I agree! This is very helpful. I just signed up and have been just scrolling around checking out all kinds of posts but not really sure what's really going on and voting on anything, I found remotely interesting, which I just learned from another post a few minutes ago is not the thing to do.

All Steem platforms require your private active key to connect via SteemConnect. How else should you be able to post from there to your Steem account?

No, they don't take beneficiary rewards. DTube however does take 25% of the author rewards.

hey flauwy, I have a question for the past few days my upvotes have been going down from my original posts. If you can, can you explain what is going on?
That's impossible. All post went up nearly 50% due to the Steem median which lags behind 3.5 days. Maybe you were downvoted. That's the only reason I could think of.

You are the third one misunderstanding this. The tags will NOT help you. You must post from their platforms directly or it will not work!

I am not sure what your question is. Do you want to access the Steem blockchain directly? That is being done with SteemJ as far as I know, a javascript language.

Yeah, DTube is great to get some upvotes but it will become much more difficult the more people are posting there.
Well I'm in trouble then. lol The videos I make require an entire day of work, or more, to put together and can't be live streamed; 4 tracks of audio and 2 tracks of video have to be mixed and cut. Nothing I can do about it. If all they want is selfie videos it's going to be a boring platform soon; I don't want to meet another 600,000 people since I can't possibly follow them all anyway. I do have an idea to mitigate that in a way that will also benefit other content creators that do similar stuff. At the same time it will reduce my own workload.

Everything is amazing, Dtube, Utopian, every day something goes out that is worth using. I'm interested in Utopian but I'm not interested in them, but if I listen a lot and since you're recommending them, I better investigate them a bit, I do not want to become a vine.

Nice contribution, this is an eye opener ,atleast these open sources/ tags will really do help minnows and i like the description and direction you give in using these tags @flauwy, i normally post about art on my blog, this means that i can now use the dmania tag, and the busy tag maybe i can still work on some awesome steemit logo to post to utopian-io tag. Please DON'T confuse using a TAG and a seperate platform. Two totally different things. If you just use dmania or busy tag you will not get anything from their platforms. You MUST use their posting editors directly on their platforms and use your private posting key (or active key) to connect your Steem account with them.

As far as I'm concerned, youtube was before my time. Dtube seemed cool.... It's just I must have spent a good three or four hours today trying to upload two videos I filmed yesterday. They weren't even very good videos, but as I have successfully uploaded a few videos before, I wanted to know what the problem could be.
I was pulling my hair out.
4 ) Then instead of copy/pasting everything into the comments box and the tag box, I chose to manually type it all up instead.
And that's when I found the answer! :D You must not copy/paste all 5 tags as a block. Because it won't be allowed into the blockchain. Type / copy-paste each one individually.
DTube's never going to break for me again. I've just got to find something better to put on it, now.
I never heard of that problem. I always type my five tags manually.
