okay i kinda felt gross typing out the title but figured I'd try something new so the perm link to the post doesn't add those extra letters/numbers if it's an identical title you've already used in the past, not that I know if I have.

I haven't been posting much lately as I've been busy with other things around hive, mainly curation on different projects/accounts and work towards zing. I do plan on improving a bit on my posting however, if anything to help with zing funding as it's still looking quite bleak there with ~$600 a week. Another thing I really need here soon is, as the title says, a vacation.

It's been over 1.5 years again since my last vacation, not sure how close to burn-out I am or how much passed, but it feels like high time to get one here soon. Naturally, being a hiver and this active, my vacation will still mean an hour or two per day voting, will have to see if someone can help get some of the daily routine off my back for a while, but that'll already be quite an improvement to how things are currently.

I'm planning on taking a longer trip this time however so maybe some hive here and there won't be too bad to keep up with things and keep down with voting power. This trip is something I've been meaning to do for quite some time now and have talked about it with a friend since forever, we'll be going and exploring Japan.

I'll also be borrowing my fiancé's camera for the trip and taking as many pics as I can and try improve on my photography while there, given how good the camera is I'm probably half-way to a pro. (just kidding)

I do plan on posting them while on the trip however, while the memories are fresh and whatever info i find out about places are still on my mind, maybe my fiancé will wanna do some editing of pics for me in exchange for some beneficiary rewards? (please)

Either way, I just need to get active in posting more generally. Noticed it had been 11 days since my post before the one I posted yesterday which is kind of a bummer as I like writing and engaging with people. I've been saying for a long time that whenever my involvement with my projects is done and they're self-sustaining/developing I'll be hands off again and get back to "my roots", which is basically curating and leaving comments here and there on newer and older accounts as that's what I did for most of my early years on this chain.

Feels like I also have a lot to post about, especially since it's hard to find people here that are this involved in the things I am, so talking to strangers/friends of friends in the real world about things hive, gaming development, etc, isn't that easy. Thus maybe my following will entertain me in that regard instead? Sure there's DM's and I'd have to admit more time is spent there on a daily basis than is probably healthy development-wise, but it's just the way it is right now I guess. I'm sure many other hivers are in the same boat where they may spend a lot of time chatting in various Hive discord servers and dm's.

Anyway, there's still a few things I'd like to get done, development-wise, before my trip. I'll be talking a bit more about them in the next few days. Maybe a bit more on why Japan as well and the plans there.

Thanks for reading, being here and of course having skin in the game those of you who've been around long enough to maybe also need some vacations now and then.

Sort:

I do a vacation once a year, well except during covid when it was all fucked up, but a vacation a year is good enough for your mind... Actually 2 would be best, like every 6 months but that takes a lot of money

Japan is a great destination, it's one I'd like to visit once in my life even tough it's like a 24h trip 🤣

I can already see you hunting Pokémon stuff there around 🤣

Be sure to post pics!

Might pick up a few japanese cards I may not have, but not much other than that.

I do wanna inquire about some custom quality printing services for my own project, however. ^^

Hope you'll have a great and deserved vacation! Looking forward to travel reports :-) For some reason I didn't even realize that you weren't posting that much, I had the feeling to be reading something by you every other day. But time flies, maybe I was mistaken. or just reading older stuff that crossed my topic-feeds or searches.

I went for a short vacation last week, only 4 days, but at a very lonesome beach where one only gets to when the tide is low. Internet was spotty, but I could make Keychain work on my phone, and it was really awesome to be reading a little at that one spot on the grades to the house where I had two bars of 4G internet, and then walking around the shoreline thinking about it while the kids played. It was refreshing. I hope you're vacation will grant you a similar feeling.

Haha that sounds great, hope I find the time to do that as well rather than some times throwing votes on authors I trust wouldn't abuse and call it curation without fully reading the posts. :D

I worry we might spend too much time exploring rather than relaxing, but let's see!

I'd say there's neither an obligation to curate, nor a right to be curated. If you're on vacation and exploring (which I'd say is a form of relaxing, as it takes you out of the regular and stimulates your brain in a different way and let's the regular part of the day-to-day rest), then that's what you're doing. If you have time to read a post or two and feel like it, great. But if you don't just don't do it.

I enjoy HIVE, and reading, especially in a nice and different environment where I can focus more on the written. But that's me. I don't dedicate my life to it as much as you 😅

It’s not easy to read every post all the time. You’re doing such a great job with curation. Hope you can relax and enjoy your time too..

I wish you a save trip and lots of fun in Japan! I have been there in the past, but unfortunately, not as tourist but only as attendant of my employer. It was in winter and I can say it was actually rather cold (at least for me as Filipina)! Nevertheless, it was a very interesting experience! Also Japanese food is quite amazing...

Good that you bring that camera with you, so I hope for some great pictures, hehe! 😊

Let me know if you want to meet up! How long will you stay here? Which cities? My bank accounts are pretty much empty but if you get the bill I can pay you back in HBD, Hive, or ..... Lotus? lol

I can think of some places I've never been that would be cool to just walk around for someone just visiting and for someone who lives here.

I have to regretfully refuse the offer :( would've been fun, though. We're thinking of starting off in tokyo, maybe going up north real quick but then moving south as the weeks go on to beat the cold :D

Feel free to recommend some places that'd make for good photography and would be a lot calmer than the cities! Although maybe not so calm that there's barely any hotels or something. :D

Ouch 😢 rejected!

I think what’s cool about Japan is that it’s all Japan and that’s generally the attractive point. I’d just google random places and their distances by train during the daytime. Just remember taxis are hard to come by outside of the city. (You generally need to call and book in Japanese and many times of day there just arent any😣, no uber except in big city centers, couldn’t even find one in Toyota city).

My major destinations now are the chain of islands between Honshu and Kyushu (there’s a road going through) and Beppu (onsen town)

Okinawa would be the best way to stay warm. Or Amami Oshima.

Haha it's cause of me, can't even go to hivefest to stay anon.

lol I wont tell. But if you are that worried about being known, I’m just going to assume you are Daði Freyr

You with find with development if you are in deep with a project for months, when you do goon holiday you are half afraid that you forget the things that you have learned. I just launched my own website and it was alot more complicated in the backend that I thought so a steep learning curve but the good thing about the holier it recharges you and you are mad to get back into it when you get home.

Sometimes I don't blog for several days either. Sometimes I just don't have the time or the desire to do so. That's why I don't have a problem with not blogging for a longer period of time. It means there are things that are more important to me or that I enjoy more. So don't be so hard on yourself. :)

In any case, I wish you a wonderful and relaxing vacation. Japan is still on my list, so I'm excited to hear what you will report about it!

Whoa Japan's a nice place for a vacation 🤩. It will definitely help you refresh your mind with everything else going on here.

It's been like 10 years since I went on a vacay 😂 so I'm not sure how badly I'm burnt out haha. This reminds me that @jijisaurart also went to Japan for vacation. Maybe you can see the actual shinaara in the Naara park hehe.

Yuhh dreaming about vacation by myself too! It passed more than year since moved to new job, had busy spring and summer with garden, rebuilding garden house etc, etc. So crossed fingers I can take a vacation lately in September or in October. Of course I had another plans for this year vacation but sometimes it's hard to predict where your life will turn.

Wait, is your fiancee not going on vacation with you that you are borrowing her camera? Or is she going you just plan on using it more than her? :) @dbooster has really painted Japan in a way that makes me want to visit one day. It sounds like an awesome place. I hope you enjoy your trip and it gives you the refresh you need!

It's kind of a longer trip and she wanted to focus on her art, it's also kind of been a thing we've been wanting to do with my friend for a long time so it'll be just us two exploring japan for the first time!

Ah, that's fair! It's nice you have that freedom to be apart like that. My wife likes to pretend different, but after 15+ years together I think she would go a bit crazy if I was gone too long!

Haha yeah I get that, well, japan isn't far from here so if she changes her mind the flight ticket isn't that expensive :D

That is cool!

In fact, I haven't seen a travel content with photos taken by you in a long time because I've been busy on this platform. After 1.5 years of being without rest, the mind definitely needs freedom. By choosing a country like Japan to explore, you can gain experiences with different landscapes, different cultural lifestyles, etc. and you can also share them with us through this platform. It will remain in your memories, and we can also learn something new. So I wish you a wonderful vacation.

I know that. I need a real vacation too. My last few vacations weren't really vacations but just a change of location. Which unfortunately didn't do me any good. We should probably all take a step back and enjoy life a bit more, but it's hard. I know that from myself. You just want to get the most out of your life. All it takes is one small setback to lose all the motivation you had. I hope you have fun in Japan and I'm looking forward to reading your posts about Japan. Many of my friends are also talking a lot about traveling to Japan. Maybe I will be able to have a little say thanks to your posts.

I do love Japan a lot, The big reason is I love anime and by that I have seen a lot already but still I want to visit it one day. Not sure when but I will try too. will wait for your photographs.

Hope you have a good vacation. It is necessary to take at least short breaks from time to time...at least to recover your energy and mental health. Well, I didn't have a proper vacay for...around 5 years. I mean a vacay without any gadgets and needs to check the emails and messangers, just time spent with myself. But that is in my list of goals for the next year lol

!BBH !PIZZA

I hope you have a great vacation and well deserved before getting a burn out. We are just on the way home from our vacation, not as big as your plans, but we needed some quiet time. I’m looking forward to reading your story in the future.

Wow, 1.5 years is a long time between vacations. Enjoy your time away exploring Japan. Hopefully you will come back fully refreshed.

I'm looking forward to seeing your photos from the trip when you get a chance to post them. Will you do any hiking at Mount Fuji?

Not sure, I read that the hiking is usually during these months only and I plan on going late september.

Soo have you already planned out which PokeShops you are going to? Cause Japan is on my bucket list as well :)

All I know so far is that I am getting a Charmander Tattoo when I go to Japan ;)

Haha will probably visit some card shops yeah, heard there's a pokemon theme park in the making so maybe you can check that out later! :D

It looks like an exciting plan to me. A break in Japan with fresh experiences & photography will absolutely help recharge. I am looking forward to see your posts from the trip. 🌷

Japan is filled with culture and beauty. It is one of the perfect settings for relaxation and photography.

Enjoy your trip!

ohhhh no fiancé? tsk, I thought fiancé and I could meet 😂
enjoy Japan!! still hot right now because still summer so bring something to make you cool 🪭

1,5 years no vacation. I would certainly have a burn out then 😬

I do plan on posting them while on the trip however, while the memories are fresh and whatever info i find out about places are still on my mind.

Don't forget to live in the moment. Be careful you don't have to look at the beauty of Japan on the photos when you're back home. I must be careful to loose myself in getting the best shots during my holidays too.

Enjoy your holiday!

Currently enjoying our first vacation (or day off even for that matter) in 7 years, so I can tell you from experience: you will enjoy it!! Have fun

Going on vacation from a cold climate country like Finland to a cold climate country like Japan is a completely different travel experience. This decision is all the more important because you haven't had a fun vacation in a long time.

I'm not in finland currently so it'll be going from warm to cold, especially when we do, cause currently I hear they're having record 35c multiple days in a row!

Enjoy your holiday! Lovely food. Remember to slurp, it is a good compliment. Lol.

Haha yeah also read that leaving any tips is considered rude, need to make sure not to accidentally do anything wrong.

True, just bow and say arigatou, and that will do. Also always have cash and use both hands to receive or give. They will love you for that. Haha.

I'll also be borrowing my fiancé's camera for the trip and taking as many pics as I can and try improve on my photography while there

You mean get ready to see you photo post in Photography Lovers?

本当に願っています 😆

とにかく、楽しんで、日本料理があなたに提供しなければならないものは何でも試してみることを忘れないでください。😂

Doubt it, it's too strict in there! :'( :P

Why are you making us both use google translate lol

Whatcha mean too strict? 😂😜

Why are you making us both use google translate lol

Just wanted to let you know I know how to use it 🤣

Hey @acidyo!
Here is a !PIZZA for you 🍕

Wish you the best vacation time

Happy holidays

Thank you!

For me, hivefest would be my vacay 🤣
See you there.

A vacation never hurts, and you do a wonderful job supporting all of Hive's friends. You're a great person with a big heart. We appreciate you so much. I hope you can take a break from so much work. I see you're going on a trip to Japan. I'll be keeping up with all the posts about your trip. Best of luck.😊😄

Enjoy vacation, my last real one is about 5/6 years ago

Go for a quick one somewhere else in germany, maybe ams meer!

No time at the moment - have job issue on court plus finding a new one plus daughter new school plus health shit - but if i survive this madness I will do - at least a weekend in the Alps (one hour drive).

and good luck with the other stuff, sounds annoying!

Thanks mate -at least I see some light - the other partie signalized something, git in theory some offers but we will see -in November I hope all solved.

ah nice, you're too south for a sea trip then!

Sea trip can be done within 6 hours as well - but hate the wind there :-)

Wow, congratulations on getting engaged. Hope you have a great trip. I bet we're going to get to see some nice pictures of sushi. 😁

Thank you!

I'll try, even though not a big fan of fish :P

Take easy until there, don't burn out!
Safe!!!

While you're in Japan, come down to Adelaide, Australia and visit our monthly hive meet - last Thursday of every month! Do iiit!

Japan looks like awesome place to visit. If I was a traveler I would want to go there as well.

I don't feel the burn-out after posting on Hive nearly daily. But now sometimes I take a day off from posting because I feel that that day I don't have any decent content to post.

well deserved bro... enjoy!

Always remember "All work and no play makes jack a dull boy", dont know where it comes from but it is something said in the UK quite often. Something I always lived my working life by.

Enjoy your downtime

I think many of us in the Hive community can relate to that feeling of burnout and the struggle to balance passion projects with real rest. So it’s inspiring to see you recognize the signs and actually give yourself permission to pause 😊😊

I've never been to Japan, but from what I've seen, it's a wonderful country. You should go soon; things can get tough when the weather gets cold. Finns are used to the cold, though.

You deserve a good, quality vacation. You're very active here and doing everything you can to make your hive even better.

Important to take vacations! We just did a short one to San Diego and I came back really refreshed!

Greetings @acidyo ,

Wishing you a 'Bon Voyage'....

Here's hoping you and the camera get along and take some lovely photographs.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

Enjoy your trip and have fun! I personally think Japan is the perfect destination for you with how it aligns with your hobbies as well. Even if it that were not the case it is a very vibrant and fun place from what I've seen. (From online and DW's trips there.)

Enjoy your vacay and good luck with your photography skills , don't forget to remove the lens cap 😂😂

Fiancé? Congrats!!

How about a trip to KL? Go on!!!!

I'd love to go but don't really wanna let go of my non-kyc streak

Create an alt for a Norwegian guy living in the Philippines (you should be able to be get away with it, I don't think there many Norwegians here ), then you can go incognito 😄

Hi, that's great. I hope you do well. Take care of yourself and take lots of photos to share on Hive.
