Hive smart seed marketing packets, read more here

Value Plan is a community-driven marketing and promotion initiative - a combined account from which funds for promotional activities all over the digital and physical world are drawn from. It is meant to be refilled on a quarterly basis. It thrives when Hive community members participate in it either through attending and organizing events and activities or through providing their unique expertise.

Please note that the events presented in this proposal are not the entirety of activities covered to date or coming up. There are many more smaller engagements on a global scale. A lot of work by a lot of passionate people went into these. Organizers, representatives, builders, developers, designers, athletes, photographers and videographers, writers, and even vendors and partners have all gone above and beyond for Hive as a whole.

Timing Pilot

Q4 will be condensed to allow Q1 to start in December. The reason is that every year we have unnecessary issues due to the end of the calendar year aligning with our end of the fiscal year. As calendar end of year for Hive holds its own challenges and deliverables, the fiscal end year for Value Plan, which consists of an annual review and strategy adjustment, is best separated. The new quarters are:

2025 Q4 - 15 September to 30 November
2026 Q1 - December, January, February
2026 Q2 - March, April, May
2026 Q3 - June, July, August
2026 Q4 - September, October, November

The above schedule puts the Q1 2026 proposal at the end of November.

Having said this, in execution the shift may be more challenging in practice than in theory. The reason is that the fiscal year end also relies on the dashboards and those must be ready prior to Q1 2026 to allow for a consistent deployment. This year we piloted KPI methods, metrics, goal-setting and other relevant processes. 2026 will see their deployment to support the overarching long-term plan of procedural autonomy.

Overview [R]

Your Value Plan keyholders as always are @theycallmedan, @smooth, @guiltyparties, @crimsonclad and @blocktrades. Project management is carried out by @crimsonclad, @lordbutterfly and @guiltyparties.

The project scope includes promotional, marketing, impact and task-based activities that support Hive and its ecosystem as a whole. Activities may be major or minor. Project costs such as logistics and merchandise fit within the scope.

We take project management and quality control very seriously. All line items are continuously scrutinized and we employ a cyclical feedback model of communication.

[R]=Repost section for your information.

Note: Please read through previous proposals for administrative points. The proposal for Q3 has additional insights in respect to metrics. Everyone is strongly encouraged to read all of the previous Value Plan posts.

Upcoming Events

The following are the confirmed events and activities. There are several more under development at this time but their details are not yet established enough to make an announcement with any level of certainty.

Date: 15-19 October, 2025
https://hivefe.st

ChainCulture
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Date: 17 October, 2025
https://chainculture.cc

image.png

HiveFest is entering its 10th edition and will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — our first ever Asia edition since Bangkok 2019. The five-day, full-board experience will bring together hundreds of Hivers from around the globe for a week of presentations, panels, excursions, food, music, and real-life connections.

Planning is well underway with venues locked in (REXKL and Glasshouse @ Seputeh), early-bird hotel partnerships secured (The Kuala Lumpur Journal Hotel), and speaker onboarding currently in progress. A mobile app is being developed to support the full schedule and experience.

This year, HiveFest will also feature a new initiative: ChainCulture — a one-day, free-entry cross-chain event on October 17 hosted at the Glasshouse. Positioned as an outward-facing Web3 culture & tech summit, ChainCulture aims to open up Hive to new builders, creators, artists, and communities across chains. It will feature cross-chain talks, workshops, activations, and community outreach via Malaysia’s active blockchain scene.

HiveFest and ChainCulture are co-organized to maximize Hive visibility:

  • Dedicated Hive onboarding space
  • Local partnerships with Web3 student clubs, Telegram groups, and regional ecosystems (OffChain KL, Club Satoshi, Ape Club, etc. - see below for more)
  • Hive payment integration exploration with local merchants
  • Audio tour content, KL city gamification, and creative projects tied to Hive-based tools

With three weeks to go, we’re in full gear finalizing logistics, confirming speakers, and expanding regional outreach. ChainCulture is being introduced as a community-owned brand, supported by HiveFest and the Value Plan, to bridge Hive into broader ecosystems and serve as a long-term outreach format for future external-facing Hive initiatives.

Central European Rally

Passau, Germany
Date: 16-19 October, 2025

The WRC CER is based out of Passau, Germany, and crosses into Austria and the Czech Republic. The event takes place at the same time as HiveFest and we will see synergies between the two activities. This particular race always generates a significant amount of publicity due to its accessible location. We will hold Hive outreach activities during the event on location.

LABITCONF

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Date: 7-8 November, 2025
https://labitconf.com/

We are currently exploring our involvement with this major conference this year. We have received a comprehensive sponsorship package from the organizers but it lacks a speaking opportunity, which we require in order to present Hive to the fullest at the appropriate level of exposure.

We were also encouraged to attend Staking Summit, a community conference put on by Staking Rewards, on the 15-16th and Devconnect Arg on the 17-22nd. We are sorting out what will be attended and by whom at this time.

Tokenize:LDN

London, UK
Date: 2-3 December, 2025
https://tokenize-event.com/

image.png

This event moved dates. It was originally scheduled for July and called Dev Expo:LDN but was re-scheduled by its organizers to maximize its impact.

During the conference, @mcsamm and @alessandrawhite will each have a presentation focusing on the Community Well Project and on Web3, respectively. We will also be sponsoring the network area located right in the middle of the conference. The entire space will act as our focal point and booth. In addition, conference attendees will be able to use their HBD to get their coffee on during the event.

Hive Cup

Maracay, Venezuela
Date: TBD (mid-December)

This annual Hive street workout sporting event will have an international focus this year despite having to be held in Venezuela (it is limited in mobility due to the amount of physical Hive assets it requires). We are exploring our relationships with the appropriate B2B partners who co-sponsor our event location.

Ongoing Activities Spotlight

Code Hive 8th Ed

Global, Online
Date: 20 November, 2025 submission deadline
https://luma.com/h4hor5rw

image.png

The latest in the line of Hive hackathons designed to inspire the global tech scene. The hackathon lasts for the entirety of Q4.

Code Hive follows in the path of its previous iterations and hackathon events including Tryst'25, which was held earlier in the year.

Tryst'25
The prize winners of this hackathon are still working on their dapps and will be formally launching their projects on Hive by the end of October. We're excited to see a new addition to our ecosystem!

Germany Strategy

Following the success of Hive Summit Aachen and Conf3rence, @Detlev has developed a comprehensive approach to amplifying Hive's position in Germany.

  • MEXC x Hive AMA to be held on 2 October, 2025
  • Expanding the support for existing local integrations and exploring new ones in follow-up to connections made during the previous events
  • B2B style development with smaller events and idea-sharing workshops

The details of this are still being developed as they in part rely on discussions with our new connections made during the previous events.

Additional elements drawn from Poland initiatives (Krolestwo, documentaries) and other parts of Europe will be incorporated in Germany and vice versa.

Hive B2B

Hive B2B is a very extensive initiative undertaken in multiple locations at once. The following is a snapshot of one location currently in progress. It is being included to show what its typical workflow looks like.

One team is currently focusing our efforts in Lechería, Venezuela as we have always seen great potential in this city due its significant economic activity. The work has been slower than expected in the sense we have not yet executed the required tasks to generate metrics due to the availability of the co-working space. The pause gave us a bit of more time to think, reevaluate and take a different approach in order to improve and manage to build a system that can be sustainable over time.

Accomplished

  • Three meetings with the Chamber of Commerce
  • A list of businesses that accept crypto and those who do not - all visited
  • A list of a 120 people that were approached directly in the selected neighborhood that will be introduced to Hive on the dates we secured with the co-working
  • A list of 60 people that will be introduced to Hive locally in the selected neighborhood
  • A meeting with a culinary academy
  • A meeting with media representatives.

Next Steps

  • Onboard at least 200 people in the selected neighborhood
  • Secure a partnership with the culinary academy in order to implement a business model focused on marketing, scholarships, the use of Hive as social media, and payments of their courses with HBD
  • Secure at least 5 businesses that sell low cost items near the onboarding points area in order to incentivize new users to use their HBD
  • Meetings with the Universidad Santa Maria

The above is a snapshot of several weeks' achievements and deliverables of a single team in a single location.

Hive LATAM Marketing Strategy

This is an ongoing and evolving initiative with adaptive approaches. It relies on KPIs and performance metrics guide its approaches. The project is managed and executed by the @hivecreators.

The ultimate goal is to establish a solid marketing foundation by early next year (during Q1 or Q2 2026). It's worth noting that this represents the first comprehensive digital marketing strategy execution for Hive in the LATAM region. It also aims to onboard and retain at least 5,000 new community members from the area in order to further solidify Hive's footing in their respective regions.

Current Progress

This initiative is treated similarly to a "plug-in" and manages its own budget. It has @enrique89 in the role of a project manager. To date, it has deployed 35% of the allocated budget while maintaining a strategic reserve for testing and optimization. This measured approach allows the team to iterate and refine their tactics until they achieve optimal efficiency across all channels.

Core Objectives

Unify and simplify Hive's messaging as a blockchain technology, presenting a clear value proposition backed by real, verifiable use cases—distinct from the fragmented communications of individual dapps.

Completed Initiatives

The team has achieved significant progress across multiple fronts:

  • Comprehensive research on "tangible value" within Hive, contributing to a lightweight whitepaper (pending finalization)
  • Assessment of Hive's current position using the Value Compass methodology
  • Enhancement of holahive.com with optimized onboarding systems, integrating the Wax library and testing JSON operations
  • Development of a mini-academy featuring tutorials and fundamental concepts for new users
  • Establishment of sustainable content creation workflows, particularly for Instagram and social media platforms

6-Step Strategic Roadmap

Step 1: Message Validation - Test and refine key messages before scaling promotional investments, ensuring alignment with target segment needs and language.
Step 2: Use Case Documentation - Identify and amplify insights with concrete data supporting Hive's value proposition.
Step 3: Onboarding Optimization - Complete implementation of enhanced user acquisition systems to reduce friction points.
Step 4: Content Scaling - Progressively increase educational and promotional content production while maintaining quality standards.
Step 5: Selective Amplification - Invest in visibility through validated channels, maximizing return on ad spend.
Step 6: Measurement and Iteration - Implement clear success metrics and make adjustments based on conversion and retention data.

Cancelled Events

Blockchain Rio

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Date: 5-7 August, 2025

While we originally intended to, we did not attend or participate this year due to the number of LATAM events already on the schedule around the time of this event. We strive for a good event and we would not have had sufficient resources or planning to make it so. We hope to attend next year. In the meantime, we encourage the local Brazilian community to seek out smaller networking engagements in their respective cities.

Concluded Events

Slot Art Festival

Lubiąż, Poland
Date: 8-12 July, 2025

image.png

Hive's presence at the festival was a hit with the attendees and we are going to explore expanding it in the coming year. The festival is an annual event, which gives us the chance to further tailor our presence there in 2026 based on lessons learned this year. A great overview of this year's event can be found here.

Crypto Experience Summit

La Paz and Santa Cruz, Bolivia
Date: 29-31 July, 2025

@Arlettemsalase represented Hive on stage during this double-location event. We had great engagement during the event as well as with the organizers. It went well although it was physically challenging due to the altitude of the venues.

SWC Duals Battles 4th Ed/Hive B2B

Maracay, Venezuela
Date: 3 August, 2025

image.png

This event surpassed all expectations. It was held in the Parque Los Aviadores mall - a large mall with a sizable interior court which they cleared for our use free of charge - but the crowds that formed made the space look small. The event was had a high focus on B2B and was executed in conjunction with part of the Hive B2B team. In addition, the Hive motorcycle was kindly brought out by @king-13 and provided an extra attraction. In addition and as a surprise to the participating Hive athletes, a five-time calisthenics world champion and sports influencer from Mexico, Tony Gaste, joined as a judge. Local media covered the event. Follow-ups to this event are still ongoing due to the volume of connections and resulting media invites.

image.png

Administrative Lessons Learned

Large events with crowds focused only on Hive require an onboarding process different from all existing ones. Individuals must be able to scan a QR code, download an application with which to interact on the Hive blockchain and at the same time create their Hive account. While the B2B and SWC teams did their best to onboard everyone interested during the event, personalized approaches are not feasible due to the sheer volume of individuals and everything that's going on.

Paraguay Blockchain Summit

Asuncion, Paraguay
Date: 11 August, 2025

This conference went well but was unexpectedly affected by global economic and geopolitical shifts. While the attendees were not whom we expected, we were able to make new connections and strengthen existing ones. Interestingly, we shared the conference with a co-sponsor who turned out to be Hive the cryptomining provider (and finally got to say hello to them in a positive environment).

Administrative Lessons Learned

As we discovered that Paraguay as a country will be increasingly focused on providing locations for POW infrastructure deployment, as a DPOS blockchain we will disengage from any large scale events there. We will instead look for smaller B2B style opportunities where possible.

Cripto Latin Fest

Medellin, Colombia
Date: 21-22 August, 2025
image.png
This is an event that went well despite every type of misunderstanding and issue seemingly possible. All are in progress or have been resolved at this time. Regardless of its lack of logistical luck, the event went very well. Hive Debit cards and Hive B2B initiatives such as Distriator made this event what it is and the Hive booth was always busy.

Administrative Lessons Learned

This event has a loss of 551 HBD due to a hacked account belonging to one of the community members who was supposed to attend. The issue happened in part as this event was almost back to back with others in the region. The event presence was expanded at the last moment to make up for Brazil being cancelled. As this constitutes an oversight in the level of hacked account identification and cross-checking that fall under the responsibility of the Spaminator project and insufficient project control and communication during the execution of this Value Plan event, the funds have been replaced back into the budget by @guiltyparties who is solely responsible for all infrastructure and processes that allowed the above.

All funds will be distributed to cold wallets only going forward and starting with October 1st. The period between now and then is the transition period. Most project accounts have already been pivoted to cold wallets but from October 1st onward, no transfer is to be carried on to any live (posting) account.

If any rushed condition exists beyond what is typically expected for the type of activity it applies to, the activity will be postponed or cancelled. Conference participation will be moved by a year and the planning to date will be paused until that year. While we all know we have delays due to budgetary constraints or waiting on partners or milestones to amplify the impact we can expect to make with any given activity, major conferences in particular will see a pause.

Hive Summit Aachen

Aachen, Germany
Date: 22-24 August, 2025

An intimate tech event geared towards tech enthusiasts that saw presentations by both Hive community members and external delegates, including a speaker from Microsoft. The event was made more special by a screening of Freechain.

HiveCubaCon

Havana, Cuba
Date: 30 August, 2025

This event had to be moved online due to new governmental approaches to cryptocurrency payments. The change happened with just over a day to spare. We were not able to recoup all of the costs as food was already ordered. The ordered food was donated to a nursing home for the elderly. The online event was held on Telegram and was enjoyed by around 30 community members.

Conf3rence

Dortmund, Germany
Date: 3-4 September, 2025

A truly phenomenal conference. Hive community members came together to make this event truly great. We worked closely with the organizer to plan our engagement and entered as a sponsor. In addition, we brought the Hive rally car into a secondary location on the conference floor which we received complimentary. This is the first time we had a double presence on a conference floor in two distinct locations.

The event went very well and everyone is still working through the new relationships and follow-ups. @Detlev took the lead on this event and set up all the planning and logistics. He was also our speaker. @Driipam organized the rally car involvement and related logistics. Partnerships gained as a result of this event are still being developed and will be announced once solidified.

Administrative Points

Inclusivity and Conduct

As a rule, no one is included or excluded from partaking in Hive promotional activities based on their appearance, age, ethnicity, sex/gender, religion/beliefs, physical ability, or any other such factor. We have always made accommodations where needed. We do not engage with events that contradict our values of equality.

In return, we ask that all team members conduct themselves in a professional manner befitting of someone representing the entirety of Hive. This includes engaging in professional communication during the event, whether at the event or between activities. Anyone engaging in dangerous behaviors, inciting hatred towards anyone else, threatening, getting drunk, etc. will not be included in promotional activities.

All activities have specific roles and responsibilities. It is assumed that those who volunteer to attend and represent Hive will do so while carrying out the required duties. That can mean minding the conference booth, engaging with visitors, and taking direction from the event team lead.

Reading Memos

For those who are wondering how to tell what funds are going to which promotional activity: Every transaction is labeled with the project name and the country to which the project applies. All transfers are for the purchase of specified items or services. The only transfers that are payments to Hive community members are either designer or developer rates. Those will always have the number of hours specified in the memo. Designer rates are set at 20 HBD/hour and developer rates are set at 40 HBD/hour. All designs and development projects are considered a common good and are available for all of Hive as needed (development is OS). Any variations to this are extremely rare. If you don't see an hours label then the wallet is only processing funds for the purchase of goods and services.

Proposal

The Q4 proposal is intended to complete Value Plan's annual 1,000,000 HBD budget. Although the annual budget dwarfs many other DHF proposals it is actually very modest in comparison to those of our competitors and the expectations of crypto events. We extend it through negotiations, saving where we can, relying on hundreds of our volunteer community members, and playing to our strengths.

This proposal is asking for 250,000 HBD for Q4 2025.

Thank you for your consideration as always,

I am all for marketing Hive - it's absolutely essential. I listened to the X space with the Dash team, Starkerz and some VCs - plus other crypto OGs and they were shocked to learn that Hive exists at all. They thought Steem died due to the centralisation of stake and fatal flaws in the design. They had never heard of Hive.

This should never have been allowed to happen.

All it takes is a few well placed articles and blogs - yes, cointelegraph are disgustingly expensive, but there is a reason why people still pay them - they have the ear of key parties in the industry.

Aside from that, as almost all other commenters are screaming here - measurement of performance is essential in marketing and not a penny would be authorised for marketing by a professional marketing team without being able to directly measure the ROI of that penny. If KPIs for aspects of a marketing strategy can't be measured, then it's probably not a solid strategy.

Yes, measuring KPIs on Hive can be a challenge - however, it is not impossible to do. It would not be too costly to develop proper tracking systems for onboards of new users.

Additionally, the CheckInWith project has the potential to improve the reliability of the uniqueness of each new account user. The intelligent systematisation of onboarding, perhaps focusing on long-term physical Hive onboarding locations (think franchise ideas like 'western union' that pop up all over) could result in solid KPIs and a new level of community/growth potential for Hive - plus business potential for Hive users. Win, Win, Win, Win, Win!

Cointelegraph was so absurdly expensive they refused to tell us the price for a non-"sponsored" article.

The KPIs and measurements will improve as the dashboards are done. Checkinwith did a great job to help at events where accounts through tokens weren't feasible. All of these tech tools aren't instant but the plan is to have them all finished and integrated into the overarching marketing site by end of year.

The franchise idea was brought up before. It can't be done through Value Plan as those locations, with the exception of Krolestwo which is a non-profit and a partial vendor, would act as businesses. Meaning, someone could make money. Value Plan has very strict controls that no Hive community member makes any money as all must be volunteers.

Oh ok, that's strange - I do recall doing an online meeting with CoinTelegraph's sales rep a few years back for a client of mine and they did quote prices to me at that time for paid articles (I get the impression that all articles on CoinTelegraph are paid).

You can get prices for CT articles from reseller agencies, I am seeing between $3000 and 18,000 being quoted, depending on details.

There shouldn't be much stopping press releases and other forms of articles going out (regularly) to update the more mainstream channels of the evolving situation on Hive.

I'm not familiar with the KPI dashboards for valueplan, I see you mentioned them once in the post here, but I haven't found any details by searching on-chain - is there a link to describe what they are somewhere?

I also dug around to try to find a statement on the requirement that valueplan recipients are 100% volunteer based and that a commercial business can't be involved - but I didn't find that so far either (I checked the early posts such as: https://peakd.com/hive/@valueplan/the-hive-value-plan-account) - is there a policy document somewhere for this too that clarifies things for the community?

Thanks

Those are articles that say 'sponsored'. They're not organic-looking articles and don't have nearly the same impact. We can afford the sponsored ones.

That's a good point. We thought that by repeating that everyone is a volunteer its clear, but doesn't seem to be the case. We can add a policy in a separate post. There's also this: https://gitlab.syncad.com/hive/marketing/-/blob/master/planning/ReadMe.md

I would personally welcome completely phasing out all expenditure on Venezuela and Africa. These regions dont have access to markets, infrastructure, investors, none of it. These regions are even seen as high risk for investors so much so that having a dominance of users from those regions could have a further negative effect on perception.
That being said, some people commenting here have unreasonable expectations, some of it due to self-imposed limitations VP put on itself structure wise. Those limitations existing due to wanting to maintain "decentralization". I hate those limitations, I think they suck but theres nothing that can be done about it unless theres consensus.

I have always advocated for a more structured approach going as far as having a community VC or at least having a foundation.

VP is reactive, its not proactive. Its based around funding requests, not strategy development.

Why?

Easy to answer. No one wants anyone to have any decision making power which creating a succinct strategy would require. Even having a carrot and a stick. Seeing the general sentiment towards VP here I can only imagine what would happen to the people with decision making power. They would probably be strung up from a tree after a week.

That being said... The overall expense is extremely minor and doesnt really affect Hive in any way financially speaking. 250k is chump change in the crypto ecosystem even when taking sub 5-10mil MC projects. Even if we consider overall expenditure.

But yeah... id really like to cut some of this stuff.

Most viewed post today with only few bucks in rewards says a lot.
I do think there may be good intentions at VP. Just seems much of the community would like to see some reallocation of certain funding. It’s time to make the painful cuts to projects that have not panned out. Learn and iterate. Spending money on ideas to benefit hive isn’t an issue, but continuing to throw money at things with little to no demonstrable results is! And that is why i think that currently there is more of a grumbling community than normal.
I commend your push toward more KPI’s. Everything funded should live and die based on KPI’s. No reason for feeling bad about defunding a project or idea if the KPI’s are not favorable.
I do hope the switch to these cold wallets moving forward does not mean even more obscuring of where and how this money is really getting used.
Any chance the community could get some actual receipts beyond the memo. As in, sure the memo said it was sent for this or that reason, but it’s pretty common practice for the receiver to show receipt's of the spend.
We all would love to live on good faith and trust in this life, yet follow up reports would take away the feeling of black hole spending that many complain of.

I sincerely hope to say im proud of the way Value Plan learned and pivoted in the future.
I believe in Hive. I believe in Value Plans ability to shift and adapt and let go.

Fair points. There are constant shifts in projects and events as partnerships and opportunities become available, which is closely tied with how well Hive becomes known in some circles. We have some limitations we can't overcome by the virtue of being decentralized. We can work on our strategy and KPIs and this and that all we want but there are portions of this that go beyond the reach of VP and into our existing infrastructure. In regards to cold wallets, these don't affect on-chain transparency. Each transaction has the name of the project and sub-project or event at the beginning. To see how much went to an event just sum all of the transactions with the same name, then divide by the country and sub-label. There's no point adding them up by wallet as these just process payments to vendors.

Comrade Guilty, brilliant plan: freeze the wallets, melt the budgets, and tell the people to do the math. In my day, we called that ‘Five-Year Transparency’ — nobody survived long enough to see the results.

The community grumbles? Excellent. Starvation makes a silent electorate.

https://tokenize-event.com/

This event moved dates. It was originally scheduled for July and called Dev Expo:LDN but was re-scheduled by its organizers to maximize its impact.

During the conference, @mcsamm and @alessandrawhite will each have a presentation focusing on the Community Well Project and on Web3, respectively. We will also be sponsoring the network area located right in the middle of the conference. The entire space will act as our focal point and booth. In addition, conference attendees will be able to use their HBD to get their coffee on during the event.

Great to see this: @steevc does a Britlist every month tagging all active users in the UK Britlist: September 2025. On the last post, there was discussion about a meetup in London and I'm wondering whether it would be possible to fund the travel and a night's accommodation for any UK and Ireland Hivers who would like to come to this event? According to the Britlist, there's currently 141 active Hivers including nine witnesses. It would be great if we could extend it to Ireland as well, I know we have a handful of Hivers there.

The team that'll be going to man the booth still needs volunteers. Right now we just have the two speakers. Logistics for the volunteers are covered by the budget. Meetups as under the definition of a Meetup don't have funding attached to them but there's no reason one can't be held at the same time while everyone is in one spot. If you're able to make it drop a message on the UK discord please.

How many volunteers are you looking for to staff the booth/networking area?

Maybe a good idea if @steevc can include the event in the Britlist for October as everyone is listed and tagged in that.

I guess what would be helpful to know is what outcomes we are looking for from the event?

Will there be a press campaign/releases around the event and the presentations?

Another quarter, another few hundred thousand HBD thrown into the wind!

At least you seem to be improving the memo with explanations.. so I will give you that.

Explanations? We had those too. Every missing ruble came with a speech about progress.

I'm generally against the proposal, but I will also have to downvote all the spam bots in the comments here, all the accounts were newly created today.

This is called far-right censorship.

Seems to me that the funds would be better spent if a larger portion of the Hive community had a say in which initiative gets funded and which doesn't, and provided feedback to each initiative individually. It becomes very difficult to evaluate the success of individual initiatives when they are lumped all into one. For substantial improvement to happen, it requires the people behind each initiative to directly interact with the community and make improvements in order to get sufficient community approval and become funded. This could create a very healthy competition and collaboration between initiatives. Now all of this potential for the community to up-level itself is lost, and not only lost but prevented because if someone has a good initiative and doesn't want to go through Value Plan (a centralized project with predefined project managers), they have extremely poor chances of being funded since the community is already super unhappy with all the funds spent by Value Plan on things they haven't agreed on. When there is artificial growth, self-growth gets stifled.

Maybe the Value Plan project managers can become coaches to people whose initiatives they think have potential? Coach them, share experiences and lessons learned, tools, etc., and all of this can help the individual initiative pass the DHF threshold. Does this seem like a viable way of doing it?

Value Plan is moving towards a portion of this. However, it requires two things:

  1. The individuals who carried out initiatives were financially compensated at a fair level (they are all volunteers who make nothing)
  2. On-chain fair competition could be established (no voting based on how much someone is liked but an automated process that only considers metrics)
While Value Plan through its dashboards, processes and tools can create 2., it can't do anything about 1. Nothing can be done about compensating anyone except for designers and developers in part because they work on call, meaning they can't take regular jobs on during that time. Everyone else is a volunteer.
There is nothing that says other projects can't be funded and there's even a Plug-In Proposal system for that where someone wants to go that route but not handle the funds.
The initiatives are lumped together because they work together. No initiative exists that isn't used to make other initiatives and results more viable. Standalone activities don't make it past the idea stage.

Thanks for responding. The stakeholders who vote for the Value Plan proposal can vote for individual initiatives (each its own proposal) to push them past the funding threshold, no?

That's the Plug-In Proposal system. It works when there's a lot of run-up time and its an activity where we know the costs. The Community Well Project in Ghana is one that would fit this. Let's say to build 10 x wells in 2026 and service the existing wells.

If there some initiatives that can more easily be separated out like that, in my opinion it would be great to do so and start with them as separate proposals.

I read the post and I see that Valueplan are doing alot of good in many areas (Don't faint) and I see the German conferences went well. Germany is a country that Hive can grown in as there is much more disposable income in a rich country. So it's good to see.
I am not against the idea of Valueplan either by the way.
And I have to say @guiltyparties ,you take alot of grief from heading this up. And I think you are thrown to the wolves in a way. You have always got back to me with any questions and you have always been courteous and I thank you for that. You could easily just tell me to fuck off 🤣. Choosing to die on this hill is a mystery to me but I respect you more for it.
I actually think the Valueplan team is probably too small to cope with the amount of stuff happening, receipts checking, conference organising and so on. While you guys all have jobs and stuff going on. And reading Crimsons post the other day it just cemented the idea that you guys have alot of stuff going on and probably need more help but people are afraid to go near you because of the stigma.

Here's what I think. I want to be objective here and not be overly critical. In my full time job I organise events and I actually hate some of the contractors that I deal with who set up these events for me. The reason for this is that they rush me into things but over the years I told them if they want the event then they have to have this , this and this set up before I release the funding. Any time constraints then tough shit. You should have come to me earlier. Anything without a receipt, tough shit. Some projects say they are voluntary and they actually include their salary in the project cost. And it is as clear as day that this happens with some projects with Valueplan but unfortunately for you ,you may have to take people at their word as you are not on the ground there.
I also think it is easier to give out funding than take it away as it is tough to break the news but I do think some of the projects have run their course on Hive. The Gym Street Workout is one of them.

I thought of 3 main things that Valueplan should do.

  • Put a spending cap and time limit cap on projects. People being funded should match projects with their a % of their own funding to ensure we are not been taken for a ride. Too easy for rally car guy. Now he is reliant on Hive. Where does it end? Gym Street has been funded for years now and returns nothing. They have only 81 active users.

  • Any project that requires over 100K for the year should be proposed separately to the DHF. This in turn may give other projects a turn or a chance for more funding in the likes of Germany which seemed to have gone well.
The rally car community has 4 active users and one of them is the rally car driver. If you are to onboard any rally car people it would be the first Community they would land. It's had its day. We own the car. Lets retire it like a Grade one Race Horse and put it into stud. Have it at our conferences but just don't race it anymore. It would be interesting to see how this would go with rally car guy.

  • Only give funding out to users that have over 5,000 HP. They have to be dedicated to Hive. If they don't have it then no funding. Our main serial conference presenter @arlettemsalase has 80 HP in her Hive account worth $17 and she has been funded 6 figures. They can say "I love Hive" all they want and be a great speaker. But if a person being onboarded takes a gander at her wallet , they won't be that eager to join if the one up on stage saying Hive is the best thing since sliced bread has nothing in her Hive account. If people want funding then they need to have skin in the game. If there is nobody to do the conference then great!! Don't do it. It will be one less thing for you to deal with. I find it hard to believe that these people do it out of their "love" for Hive. There is definitely a kick back. You don't see it but it is there. When I see the state of some of the "Hive Merch" bracelets and stickers at these events , I would start there.

  • Cut back funding in South America particularly Venezuela. The country is the worst run country in the world and it is banned on the airdrop list for major cryptocurrencies and exchanges. We come across as naïve and too trusting. I think Hive likes to think the best of people but we should be thinking the absolute worst of people especially in the crypto space. Why are we not focusing on first world countries?? Those who have disposable income to buy HP. The countries we focus on don't have a pot to piss in. Lucky to have a laptop.

I think the above points are easily done and it is just a case of winding down certain projects and you will have a lot less grief. I think there is a certain stubbornness to back down on your part on the rally car which I get.
Seeing that we love to harp on about being decentralised and all that . Maybe if you did a poll amongst the active users about whether to keep the major spends such as the rally car/ Gym Street and the expensive well digging to the Hive Community so they will have a voice and everybody would stop moaning about it. We would all get closure. Anyway thanks for you time.

Every time I see your comments or posts the real regret is you're not on any of the chats. Comments just don't hit the same way as talking things out to get the information across.

This is a job that has to be done by someone with project management experience. Its not a paying job and it takes full-time hours. When Hive launched I had no intention of taking this on but things that must be done must be done. My personal feelings toward any of this are irrelevant, only Hive does. Just like when I have to sit there making cat memes for the Hive X account. Do I give two shits about cat memes? No. Will I make them for Hive? Yes.

We ran a lot of various events all over LATAM these last few years to find the more suitable locations. What we found is countries that are just now discovering crypto aren't suitable for Hive. The population is over-reliant on the government and lacks the self-education and self-sustainability required for Hive (this is also true for large parts of North America let's say). It also won't work in areas where the people have generational poverty, such as rural areas. This is why we had good luck in Venezuela so far. The population that uses Hive were the educated middle and upper-middle classes before the collapse or are the children of those people.

The activities that are funded are not people's personal activities that benefit them. This would be explicitly prohibited as that would mean its a personal business. No one can make any money out of VP. This is the point of confusion for most and I get a lot of asks for profit-driven projects that are immediately rejected. Every organizer is just the person who puts the event together and uses the funds sent to their wallet to pay the vendors. They are volunteers and receive nothing for the trouble they go through. The projects are also not owned by them. Let's say Slaven is ill and can't represent the rally car to a conference himself. Someone else will step in and do that. This is why the speakers and booth teams change as needed.

The people presenting are not selected based on how much HIVE they hold. They're selected based on merit or they're invited by the organizers. Arlette is commonly invited. These people don't get anything out of presenting except to have to take time off their regular jobs and be away from their families. You keep referring to people getting funding. This is the entire issue. They are not receiving anything beneficial. The conferences are not fun. They are extremely long work days for the volunteers and there is absolutely nothing anyone would personally consider remuneration that they receive. Its rare for any participant to have any time to themselves during any event or activity. This is also why we have to spread out volunteers.

Funding personal activities is limited to Hive dapps. In those cases, the onus to create a good speech or event falls on the dapp but half of it must be about Hive. This is to prevent dapps from using DHF funding (VP funding is the same as any DHF funding) to promote themselves while hiding what chain they're on. It's a safeguard. Those events, even if they're Plug-In Proposals, are held to the same standard as all VP events. They are very rare and are usually either thematic (like the WOO event coming up next year) or the dapps are part of larger conference spaces housed under the Hive banner.

I think we agree on a lot of points in general. The SWC is unique in that it was started solely as a Hive promotional activity - meaning it never existed in any form prior. It's been steadily moving towards autonomy which is what it needs to become a real entity. It's gathering sponsors and supporters outside of Hive for this reason and that support is coming back to Hive. The cost to Hive is already steadily reducing and its main cost is actually Hive merch.

The rally car is about 25k per race just based on the WRC requirements. What it costs depends on how many races it does. This past year it did three. This coming year no one knows the WRC schedule yet and without it its impossible to predict what race we'll run and what we'll sit out. The race selection depends on the race itself (if this type of car is sufficient for the terrain), its location (we're not going to fly the car to Chile), and the impact to Hive (can we couple it with a side-event, can we maximize its impact, how much can we get out of it).

The projects will naturally change over time. VP is not a reactionary initiative or no one would even trust it. Everything is based on lessons learned, opportunities, partners, metrics, and etc. The strategy changes every year. This is a lot of work for myself and for others. It's meant to be hard. Sure it would be convenient to take the easy way out and tell everyone who is vocal exactly what they want to hear but that would short-sighted. This is why VP is open for anyone to positively contribute and there's no shortage of things to do.

Could invest the $250K on growing cantaloupes on the moon and probably a better investment.

This is absolutely disgusting and is a slap in the face for every investor here.

I'll write here what I wrote in chat.

We have structural level problems with onboarding and retention. These are beyond any one proposal. Its kind of like we're building this great compound with games and whatever and the best patio chairs I don't know but the main door to get in doesn't open all the way.

So spending millions on holes in third world countries, gyms in third world countries that steal money from us, tip bots that leave after getting funded, race cars that come in last and driven by a senior citizen, and who knows what else is a good value to us while our price continues to go down?

You're accusing people of stealing based on the fact that you don't like the DHF.

The car will not come in first. Anyone who knows anything about cars can tell you this. The cars that come in first are 1+ million dollar cars. Stop with the senior citizen crap. Slaven has the skills to pull crazy maneuvers like he did last race to save the car damage. Meanwhile a younger driver in another rally killed three people. A year or so ago another younger driver killed himself in one of those winning cars. That's the difference decades of experience make. The car doesn't need to come in first to do its promotional job for us.

I'm not arguing with your position on the DHF. This is beyond this proposal. I don't disagree with it.

Hive is going to zero if nothing changes

@steevc @meno @crimsonclad please tell your friend to leave me alone 🙏🏾

You're accusing people of stealing based on the fact that you don't like the DHF.

I've heard from multiple people that some shady shit went on with the Hive gym project where they took money. Am I wrong?

The car will not come in first.

Well for something we agree.

Meanwhile a younger driver in another rally killed three people.

You can come up with examples of all sorts of things to make a point, but that has nothing to do with the point at hand. I could argue knives are dangerous because someone dropped one on their foot and try to outlaw all cooking knives. They should ban all younger drivers since they kill people.

The car doesn't need to come in first to do its promotional job for us.

How many users has it onboarded that have more than 5HP?
How has it impacted the price?
Has it got any investors onboard?

Any time there are any rumors of anything 'shady' its because someone didn't get what they wanted.

There is absolutely no possibility that any one activity can be credited with moving the price. This includes all of the dapps put together. We can't blame or thank the car for something that's of a magnitude beyond any of ours individual means.

The goal of the car is not to onboard individual users as its main metric. We're not paying for a car to onboard bloggers. It's purpose is to provide a major visual impact and support partnerships. It's done that.

My 2 cents here - I value all guys of the team and the ones on the ground a lot - and @guiltyparties might know we talked a lot about what can be done in PR / marketing - I even wrote some press releases incl local German coverage some time ago.

Always happy to help still even my suggestion was maybe a bit too traditional in the past proposals I only shared with small number of people.
However we need to be where pour target group is - hence seems article on these crypto site should be one thing even it is crazy expensive still (maybe negotiate a deal of a series for time period) - but to hear Dash people and others never heard about Hive was really shicking me - Steemit is still more know - not mentioning I think the brand Hive was not a good decision (but now it is probably too late to re-brand).

VP team does great things - I love the B2B approach a lot (hence also my former suggestions to be more active on platforms such as LinkedIn and relevant events like the Dortmund conference.

In general I think most planned event make sense - but we need to measure vs. outcome with clear KPIs per activity, so per event, per PR (wider topic), advertising, sponsoring etc.

I used to support the proposals and always mentioned I struggle with the Rally sponsorship - and I struggle even more - the amount of money is way way too much with hardly any outcome and even more important I see no potential this is relevant - no one watches this sport apart from a dedicated minority - of course F1 would be too much to sponser.

Not saying stop that immediately as there are people linked but I would appreciate to consider shifting spendings via a priority program - make a list what is key important based on past learnings and spend money there (maybe via a POLL amongst the entire community?).

The schedule for the rallies is not known for next year to anyone. The car itself is an asset. It can be discussed separately although everyone likes talking about it. The locations where the races are are what matters. The last time the rally car was included in anything was Conf3rence and it actually made us money. Some of the races we've done before we won't do again. The car has a few years left before it has to be sold but we need to use it where we have people to amplify its race locally. It's already a huge hit with various partners so nothing has to be done there but we need to use it to its full potential. Maybe with more of those articles.

ok so a long-termed asset invest on car, was not aware of that (I usually invest max 3 years into a car as of the nature of that asset) - how old is this car and will there be any money back when sold realistically? (Car as asset value is usually going down pretty fast as long it is not a well known and working oldtimer or car from a true celeb where value could increase).

Glad to hear profits been made from Conf3rence - fingers crossed then.

Not sure what you been by "those articles" though.

These cars aren't like the cars we drive and holds its value over time. They're more devalued over use which is why we only drive it during select races. It doesn't train or do anything unnecessary. I'd say it can be sold for approx $100k if we sell it let's say a few years. It's needed for WRC which are the Olympics of car racing but not for smaller rallies. We had two cars for a while and one was sold. The hardest part is selecting the races. We get the most out of Monaco and CER (the one coming up).

ok - understood but Olympics of car racing ist only Formula 1, even other smaller series are more covered in public, even what the US calls Indy Car series more popular why ever - WRC is just Rally sports - really do not know anybody that watches this - and local TV not showing any races at all (was happening in the 80ies when I German "Röhrl" was World Champion).

But get your point, no worries - will stop complaining. Maybe other countries are different and if we get money out of it all good.

Yeah they're different sports - rally, NASCAR, F1, etc.

Thanks for confirming - the car is just for branding I know and it is cheap compared to real racing and you might have good results with it all good - but still I am happy when that car is sold.

And again, I appreciate what you do in total - as I read from comments many wanna just support and tell their views. So streamline spendings to focus on areas we might benefit from.

no pancakes in proposal, no vote

KPIs? My KPI was simple: Keep Power Indefinitely… yours is Keep Paying Idiots

While everyone thinks the KPIs depict reality, bourgeois poison comrades. The only metric we need is applause volume per bullet spent.

Comrades, the Value Plan has spent a million dollars… and for this achievement, you will clap until your hands break, or we will help you break them.

They see a car; I see the embodiment of socialism… equally owned by all, driven by none, paid by everyone.

The invisible hand? It’s busy driving the rally car straight into the treasury.

This quarter we deliver nothing… next quarter, we deliver nothing internationally.

Comrade @guiltyparties , the people will remember you… mainly when they ask where the money went.

The rally car burns fuel while people starve… but if you remove the hunger… there is only speed, and speed is progress.

The power is in the wrong hands 🚮
