My Little Town

My Little Town
I would say I love where I live, life is very good. I live in a small town, population about 1,400. It’s a sweet place, all rural, everyone knows everyone and I swear we “roll up the sidewalks” around 9:00 at night. There's not too much to do, but around here that doesn’t really matter. It’s a simple little town with a grocery store, a couple of places to eat and a hotel. It’s a family town and on Friday nights during football season, everyone supports our high school team.

Main Street is where people walk around to the local shops and also just to get exercise. This street is about 4 miles long if that tells you this size of our little corner of the world. Last spring, I started walking starting out a mile and gradually working my way up to walk/run for 3 miles. (The last mile on this street doesn’t have sidewalks or lights for evening walks, so for safety purposes I stick to the sidewalks).

I recently got some new “kicks” for my running. I have already worn out a pair in less than a year but during the summer, I try to run every day. During the winter, I try to do it at least 3 times a week, if weather and time allows me. I work in an office and stay inside for 9-10 hours a day, so I think this is my therapy. It's a detox from work and the everyday stresses and a way to clear my thoughts.
I usually park at my local police department and start my walking journey.

We have a barber shop for the fellows and the “Head Shoppe” for the ladies.

As we continue our walk down Main, we have a country store, an “antique” store full of some cool old signs and the most famous place on the street, the sandwich shop.

All the locals know this little place as the “Squeeze Box”, simply because in the mornings and lunch it is always packed.
If you ever need a place to stay while visiting , we have the Vintage Rose and the Sheperd’s Inn, both a B& B.

We also have some new little stores in our town, from a massage/spa, a kettle corn store, an art/paint store and a hip little bistro called “The Living Room.”

As I end my walk, I see this .....

I find him so dang cute!!!! Well, I hope you have enjoyed my quaint little town and all of the down home feel it gives. It truly doesn’t get any better that this.

Great post! Good for you for running on a regular basis. It's so important to keep moving because it keeps your joints from seizing.
Your little town is so cute! I love the little sandwich box. You can tell that life has happened there. ;)

Thanks Rebecca for visiting my blog! I've always been an active person, I just hate to sit still! Danny continuously reminds me of how fortunate I am to have my health and energy. I wish that I could give him some of my extra energy and good health. I try not to take it for granted and thats why I try to keep moving even when I don't really feel like it. Thank you again!

They have great food in there but I dont go in there due to the size of the place. Squeeze Box and claustrophobia do not mix well.

You have added a perfect post. I can see why you would not want to move. It reminds me of my little home town. Of course, I did't actually live in the town. I think it was about 800-900 people back then. Who knows what it would be now?
Now you need get noticed. I don't have much influence on Steemit.
But, I will Resteem it for you.
Thank you for showing us and helping Steemit.

Francis

Thank you so much for your encouraging and kind words, Francis! I really appreciate you and everyone else for helping me. Danny was absolutely right when he said that he knew some very good people on here.

That was excellent! Thank you for taking us on a tour of your quaint town. Roll up the sidewalks is a term I've never heard until today, I love it!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and comment! Danny tells me that your from Canada so I understand why you haven't heard that term before. We Southerner's can come up with some interesting "terms" I tell ya lol!

Small hometowns are the best! We lived 5 miles outside our little village of 700 folks when we lived in Canada. Here in the south, we live on the outskirts of a small fishing village of about 2000 folks. Love the tire snowman! He is really cute!

I just adore that snowman! Thank you for your time :)

the town is indeed very beautiful no doubt about that.

Thank you! It's small and boring but that's the way I like it. Thank you for your visit!

I love that snowman..

Ohhh, I do too! I just love how someone was so creative to make something so uplifting out of something that otherwise may have wound up in a landfill.

Great post Resteem now!!

Your small town has a beautiful description. But you did not tell your city name?

I love the small town life. That was a great little walk and the snowman at the end was really cute. What a perfect place to get a little exercise after work. 🐓🐓

Yes, I love my little town to come come to. I have to work in a busy city so it's nice to slow down a bit.

wow! that's amazing your home town you love happily!
GOD Bless you :)
I'm followed you....
