A herd of elephants with calves on the edge of the famous Musiara marsh in the Maasai mara. The elephant herd had come from the direction of the Mara river to feed on the sweet grass of the swampy area.

The whole environment is sooo calm there :) I've been to wildpark in Nepal and they didn't have elephants there :/ Is this one made available for tourists as well or is it really just for animals, totally closed from public?

The Maasai Mara is a National Reserve and is open to the public, yes. You should definitely go visit if you ever get a chance. It's one of Africa (not just Kenya's) more famous reserves, and definitely won't disappoint.
Maan would love to go there once! It looks sooo peacefull :) And those tiny elephanties sooo cute :D

Wow! That is lovely sight to behold! It feels very natural and amusing to see these animals in the open and not in zoos. Is this in a literally wild or in a protected nature park? It is amazing that there are so many of them. Basing on their tusks, they look fairly young, am I right?
The small ones are very cute. Were they the ones that made noise then the big ones started flapping their ears? I never heard the sound of an elephant so I do not know...
You got good shots even without the zooming. How far were you from the herd?
Hi @macoolette, This is a national reserve, but the animals are entirely wild (The reserve is > 1,500 sq km). Yes, as they get older, their tusks will get much much larger.
Re the sounds... at which time count in the video are you referring to? I think you might be talking about bird sounds that were in the background.
Wild Elephants aren't really scared of safari vehicles, so we're normally able to get quite close. This was maybe 150-200 yards away.
I wish I can see such amazing sight in the wild... You're blessed to have done so!
I replayed a portion of the video and the sound started at around 1:30. I think those are the baby elephants. They sound really cute. 😊

Howdy sir robtheranger! Man, I've always loved Elephants and watching them, I don't know why but I think they are so smart and magnificent! So this video was really wonderful to see them enjoying themselves in their habitat. How close were you guys to them? It looked close but I assume it wasn't as close as it looked.

howdy today robtheranger! oh how interesting. Do they ever get bothered by the vehicles? I mean it looks like they could easily charge a vehicle if they don't like you in their area right?
That is really cute video to see that families of elephants, they all look quite relaxed and enjoying their sun and their little baby-elephants, who still try to be close to their parents and not so confident. It is unusual for me to see those animals in a freedom, because in Europe they are in Zoo's although I must say nowadays the condition of Zoo's better and they try to create bigger places for such big animals still I believe nothing can replace a freedom :)
O yes! Seeing them in the wild is a far more humbling and rewarding experience than watching them in a zoo.
