You ever seen any of the above on Steemit. I'll bet my last penny, you've seen more than enough just for today. I am someone who read wide and deep on Steemit from different authors and also I have visited blogs of most of the top guys on Steemit. There is something I have noticed which have become over-disgusting here, and that is the rise of ass kissing.

I took almost an hour looking for this post by @abh12345 which he wrote more than 3 months ago and titled The Sirs Of Steemit, three months after the analysis, the people have discarded the use of the word sir and now adopt a more scammy word (not sure if scammy is in your dictionary) all in the act of praise-singing. If I have my way, I would have ask Asher to run that analysis again and find out how many times the word boss have been used in the last three or six months.
I'm not going to write much on this subject, but I'll take a few minutes to share my thoughts on this issue and why I think people should refrain from excessively ass kissing.
Daddy, What is Ass Kissing?
I do not have a child yet but I imagine my son back from school, all so excited and confused. Then over the dinner table, ask me the question above. Honestly, I'm not the best when it comes to defining things so if you have a better definition for ass-kissing you may as well earn yourself a 0.5sbd in the comment section. But in simple terms, If a boss ordered everyone to come to work in a pink tutu and bunny slippers and someone started praising the order as if it were the greatest thing since sliced bread, that would be ass kissing.
Ass kissing is the act or practice or an instance of attempting to curry favor by the excessive use of compliments, praise, or the like.
Okay Dad, So is it bad to kiss ass?
What would you say, in my opinion ass kissing is a part of our daily life. Something that must be done when we are at the bottom of the ladder. Because in whatever you choose to do, you will have two options which are to
either kiss the ass or be ready to kiss the dust.

Excessive Ass Kissing may be the kiss of death. That is to say, to be excessively polite is the ultimate rudeness.
Why do I hate it so much
Simple, because it is fake. Most praise singing are fake. I started leading groups when I was 13 and have lived a few years around a few people who were in authority. I have lived around it so much to know that they are fake and only meant to get some favours. So next time you want to talk to me, don't bother about using the word boss or sir.
You will noticed that often times spammers tend to do this. When they don't read a post but want to comments for upvotes, they quickly employ the act of ass kissing in order to make the author feel accomplished even when the comment add no valued to the discussion.
Excessive use of compliments too is an act of begging. Most times you noticed that someone who used the word boss is about to add a request in the next sentence. So I see these words as a begging technique employ by lazy, timid fellows to try and gain some favours.
Does cultural background influence the use of this words.
I'll say yes though I do not have sufficient data to back this claim. But I am a Nigerian, and I know in Nigeria words like boss, baba, daddy etc are used extensively. In fact I call @joshuaetim and some others daddy as an informal way of addressing them. Here those words holds no meaning, it's just like a girl calling you dear or darling in this part of the world - don't smile, she attached no value to it.
But what people should know is that when you are in an intercultural settings like Steemit, you should try to adhere to international standard of doing things. You can address your close pals who you hold a stronger relationship with as boss, but when addressing people outside your friend circle, refrain from these words as they are frown at by most people.
As a word of caution to my audience, I would ask that your refrain from excessive ass kissing and praise singing. If someone did something you like, a simple thank you will be sufficient. You don't need to run around the persons blog and comments, shouting how loyal you are because in most cases, you've used the exact same word on someone else. Remember,

hahahaha i am not sure i would be perfect at parenting thou but in the little way i can i would define ass kissing as an excessive use of praise or compliments..
This is so true sir and i agree 99.9% with you on this.
I think if we for once look away from the potential payout and focus on value exchange we would be surprised at how far we would have grown.
Its okay to show respect others but when you wanna lick asses just because yo want favour in upvotes, thats not healthy at all.

Ass kissing in my own understanding is over serving your boss and behaving like you are good with the bossing around but hell no you are not. I don't support ass kissing, I believe everyone has their respects even though they are under a boss.

You are right, bro @lordjames. Ass kissing is just an informal way of gaining unnecessary attention..
In my own definition of "Ass-Kissing" it's a process of doing unnecessary things, just to gain the attention and favor of one higher up the rank; working yourself out and finally it's not duely appreciated.
In another definition, "is acting as a fool or a slave to gain recognition, using constant praises that's unworthy".

Yes of course! It would be good to brave to say our opinions. I never hesitate to talk opposite to the author if I feel to. Sometimes it even rewarded me some flags(I was lucky that they were not powerful)

Let me give a trier in defining ass kisses as a way of gaining sympathy, empathy, mercy, notice or favour in a tricky way by showing excessive kindness for something little... Lol

It is a method implemented usually by the lazy readers, because they don't read and they don't want you to know that they don't read, that is when they started praising you even when what you write does not call for a praise.

I don't have lots of them yet. And probably most people now knows that it makes no meaning to me. But I have read wide on Steemit and have seen it happens a whole lot.

LMAO..... This is very funny but very true. Spammersassociation.com. A lot of persons don't know how to comment on post or a lot of times too much in a hurry to drop an unconnected thought. It really is annoying. I hope they read up this post and learn.

It is actually true that is what most people like to do, the just love their ass to be kissed and it is very fustrating becos one day it will be that their ass will be kicked and not kissed pls let us try to help others grow coz you may not know when your boy will turn your boss n it may be and it be is turn to kick your ass so long

They say Slave I Remain is the meaning of sir. Even if we don't use that word or boss, etc. there are still ways of ass kissing. At some point we do it. I think we don't want to hear the real truth and we don't want to hurt others feelings by telling them the real truth.
Yes, seems to be built-into the culture from way back. I try to mostly ignore it, and I agree, it's really not necessary.
