Small Update to the CryptoCompany Voting Service | Valid Only for Posts Not Older Than 24 Hours

cryptocompany-ceo-voting-service-update-01.png

A small update on the CryptoCompany Voting Service. Long story short: I had to introduce the rule that the service only votes for posts that are not older than 24 hours when they are submitted.

The longer story | What, how, why:

The voting service is becoming more and more popular - understandable because of the high vote it gives, with such a low investment. After all, the voter can still be described as a money glitch. If the voting service runs out of mana and drops drastically below 80% voting mana, I have paused the submission of new vote requests and let his mana regenerate again. As soon as the mana was back above 95%, I switched it back on. This has worked really well so far. The voting service has been around for about 4 months now and I've had to take a short break of a few hours 2 or 3 times all in all.

We had such a further break about 2 days ago - and I "had" to switch off the voting service for about a day. Long story short: after it went back online, there were several users who immediately pushed a whole pile of posts into the service. This may be just about acceptable for one or two users, but it forces the voting service back into pause mode as soon as several users decide to act in this way.

Do you see where this would lead? The service would go from pause to pause and whoever is quickest in between would quickly add all their unvoted articles. The voter would be drained again and would have to be sent back to the pause mode.

I considered this and found several solutions, one of which I had to choose.

I have decided in favour of the 24-hour variant. This means that an article is only valid for the voter if the post to be voted on is not older than 24 hours. This seems to me to be the most user-friendly solution at the moment. This service should be available to everyone (except spammers) - and not just the fastest. (In the end, the particularly clever ones would write bots again to operate the voter via script and a regular user would have 0 chance to use the voting service... nobody wants that. [Except the tech and bot freaks. 😉 Dear tech freaks, don't take it bad on me, I love tech, too!])

This measure should prevent whole stacks of articles from a user being "pushed in" afterwards, so that the service's break can really be used to regenerate the mana and is not basically irrelevant because a flood of articles flows in after the reopening - I think you understand the system.

Alternatively, I could have lowered the vote value to reduce the mana required per vote, but this would have negatively affected all users unless compensated by additional HP - I didn't want to/couldn't do that. The voter acts with more than 75,000 HP... (Does somebody want to sponsor/invest this? I'm open to talk about this kind of support!) I could also have asked for a higher CCD stake - but again, those who have particularly high stats win... CryptoCompany should be there for everyone; not just for the rich or technically smart Hivians.

Why the current solution is currently the best:

The current solution means you can continue to have all your postings voted at the previous price/performance ratio - if you submit them to the Voter within the first 24 hours. If you have always pushed all your articles into the voting service, you can continue to do so - as long as you submit them within the first 24 hours.

Long-term perspective:

I will always make sure that I provide a fair distribution of votes. Everyone who writes qualified articles should get their votes. However, pure logic already says (at least for me, from the beginning on I planned this service) that the current system will have to be adjusted again at some point. A further reduction of the time window would be unusual. Since the voter uses over 75,000 HP to vote you, I can't simply set up a second voting account easily - unless a noble delegator can be found. (How raises the hand? Talk to me!)

What could happen: it could well be that I adjust the price/performance ratio in the medium or long term. Currently you get a 100% vote for 1000 CCD - I could reduce this slightly in order to be able to serve more vote requests in the end. However, this will be done in small steps and ideally always in balance with more HP, so that the voter always remains as highly profitable as possible. If there are any further changes in the future, I will announce them here again.

For now, however, everything will remain as it is and the voting service will become more and more profitable from day to day as our usable HP increases. But remember: I think it is logical that the voting service will have to be adapted at some point. If you have any suggestions on how you would do this, I would be happy to read about them in the comments or talk with you. Dynamic calculation? A limit above which only CCD stakers are voted? Something different? I'm looking forward to your ideas!

Any questions about? Please feel free to ask in the comments.

Now it only remains for me to say...

Thank you for being here. Remember: YOU. ARE. AWESOME!

See you later in the comments &

hmmm, this will be long and I hope I do not offend anyone because I really want to brainstorm what inside my head

1. The 24 hours rule

everyone runs for the 24 hours rule because it gives them higher curation rewards. However personally I strongly do not agree with this. I have some talks with a few people, they refused to upvote some posts (from their friend too), because mostly they found those at the age of more than 3 days so they prefered to vote newer post for the sake of good voting APR.

It's a sad thing to see posts judged whether they get voted or not due to aging, not for the content or the value inside the post. I hope you will consider this 24 hours rule, because I believe you are not seeking highest APR from voting.

2. Limitation and Eligibility

I think we need some limitation that allow or prohibit anyone from burning CCD for votes. For example, an account could only submit one post per 24 hours or per day. If they do not have any staked CCD, they could only submit two post per week, after that they get locked until next week.

Only whitelisted or 100.000 staked CCD accounts can submit one post per day and 7 posts per week. or maybe you want to add some rule based on CCP, for example, everyone can only submit twice a week, to be able to do once everyday they need to be in Bronze or Silver Tier.

Oh God I write too long. basically these all are part of my ideas for PGM-curator. ok that's all for today, cya

untitled.gif

[@PowerPaul:] Hey @dewabrata. Thank you very much for your thoughts about the topic and the impulses that come with it. I like to answer you.

The 24 hours rule

Yes, I heard about long time ago about this time settings/effects. To be honest: but I don't know the differences; when you make which cut. Do you know them and can write them down here? This is interesting and maybe good to know. I totally agree with your meaning. What you reported is really sad. I totally agree with you, that the content should be the factor - and not if the article is 12 hours, 2 or 5 days old. Yeah, I personally think we all should act in the social correct way - and not in the most benefit way. Because if we all would act in the most profitable way, where would our chain end? Yes, there are some people here where are more focused on the revolution, others on their personal benefit.

In the role I am I do prefer to not judge behavior of any Hivian, but I have my standing and personal values and like to integrate good values into CCCEO - and I agree with you. Bro, you are right with your assumption. Sure I have to fill the fridge + sometimes I like to consume this or that, so I don't have problems with a better cut. But at the end, and that's the base, I am and work here because of the revolution our chain can provide to everyone - and I am happy to know your standing on this point! Feels really good to be with you and all the guys where think the same...

Limitation and Eligibility

The first sentence I don't would say - because I prefer as much CCD burnt as possible actually (and I think you didn't had in focus the burning, but the mass usage of the voter from a single user in a short period of time; in correlation to your further writing).

Yes, your ideas are pretty good. I had this or something similar in mind - this were a few of my options I was able to choose from. It is very likely that, if I have to adapt for the next level demand, I will go in this direction. Nothing settled right now, but this could be a acceptable way. But to be open: staking CCD is an active part of supporting CCCEO and there are some users where like to benefit from CCCEO, but hesitate or refuse to support CCCEO. So I think it just would be fair to make benefits for active supporters. And yes, the CCD stake or CCPower could be the factor. It is very likely that - I don't want to exclude - but would prefer to support the supporters of CCCEO. It is like "one hand washes the other" and I think it would be sad if non-supporters drain the voter and CCCEO supporter can't fetch their votes. Much more it is my responsibility to reward the supporters. So you see: it is very likely that something like this will come up as soon as the service needs the next edit.

I write to long

No, not for me. Everything is totally fine and I really welcome detailed thoughts and formulated thoughts. I see it as an honor that you spend this time for CCCEO and the community. I am very thankful for that! And I know (when I look at my own writings) that we need words to tell what we like to say. You are very welcome to do so! I and we as a community can be very thankful for that! I am!

Buddy, great to be with you! And I look forward for every further dialogue and exchange!

I have decided in favour of the 24-hour variant.

This makes perfectly good since to me. Even though I don't understand all the specifics, I trust you know what you're doing & would only do what's best for the company.

I really should print out all these supportive comments and pin them to my desk to have them into view...

That is a great idea, but I must warn you, your desk ends up covered in a lot of papers. I do that myself with things that interest me & I wanna keep them near so I don't forget to check them later. I have to clean my desk off often.

I use the service just after posting my article, to avoid forgetting.
The 24-hour rule seems perfectly normal to me, given the way HIVE works.
As far as limitations are concerned, I think you need to evaluate them over time, according to the amount of mana you spend.

Excellent update. I do have a question. I know that multi accounts are not allowed in the game but can someone who runs more a than one account use the voting service for more than one account? For instance I am opening a separate account focused on delegation giveaways and I want to do CCD giveaways occasionally (once or twice a month) with the new account but am not sure if I am allowed to use the voting service because I already use it for this account. I only want to use the service for CCD giveaways on the alt account.I don't want to break any rules.

[@PowerPaul:] Thank you for your question - you are very welcome! Especially a very good behavior when something seems unclear or could be questionable.

The answer is: Generally said, yes, this wouldn't be a problem as long as this content is not spam-content and is in line with the restrictions, listed in the lower area of the voting service page - but this relates to every kind of content and is a general rule. When you write legit content via different accounts (I know some reasons for that - for example sometimes we want to maintain a clear focus on a channel/label), I am totally fine with that - and to vote for both.

If there should be something one day - in your case - where I would think "Hmmm, I don't know if I or Hivewatchers would agree to boost this kind of posts" (because I am in coordination with them to keep the voter [and their users] alive) I would give you a call. Yes, feel free.

I really welcome your question - best way to go!

Hive a great day!

Thanks for clarifying. I should have no problem then. All my giveaways are done manually ( templates but no bots) and are not spammy at all. At least I hope they aren't lol.

Thanks for being so open about everything and answering questions. It is appreciated.

CCD giveaways are fun for me and people seem to like them so I plan to keep doing them :)
