Ello!
As you know, it is the Fourth Of July, Independence Day here in the US of A. Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie... and Cheverolet....LOL... that was from a Cheverolet commercial many years ago. Back in the day of the classics, Nova... Chevelle. All the rage back in my teens. My first husband courted me in a burgundy GTO (Pontiac).... the second in a gold Nova..... never really gave that much thought before and I'm done with it now too. LOLOLOL
This is a paid holiday at the company where I work and to me that is celebration enough! I won't be firing up a grill, just for myself in this heat, already 85 degrees here at 1 PM. It's expected we'll see 91 before the temperature tops out. There is a fast food place called CookOut and they have grilled burgers and hotdogs, amongst other things. Sometimes I have drove through and grabbed one as they do pretty much taste like you grilled them yourself. A small attempt to give a nod to tradition. That has crossed my mind a time or two, but my kitchen is stocked full of good food, so I will probably talk myself out of getting dressed and riding out in the heat for that. Time will tell.
Of course you know, I had to show a few things I've been working on. This first one is something new I started on a couple of nights ago, added a tiny piece or two last night and then drew on it with a marker just a little while ago. I think it is done....I think. I used multiple papers with busy designs. I wasn't sure I could pull anything off doing that from the moment I started, This is where it is now. Colorful!!

What ?? hee.... all of the papers on here are brown paper bag, like you bring your groceries home in from the market. I used to use them to cover the table I work on while I painted. Eventually the papers would get a lot of paint on them and I would change them out to a clean one. A few had neat paint combinations on them, so sometimes I would cut those parts out and keep them. I ended up with a little bag full of pieces and a couple of nights ago I came across the bag and decided to make something with some of them. I expected it to be quite wonky and I think those expectations were met. 🤣 I can't promise it's done, but this is where it is for now.

This one is a piece where I started creating it who knows how long ago. I have a stack of pieces that weren't quite done or somehow never quite worked out. Once in a while I will go through, pick one and try to make it go somewhere. This one had multiple other paper pieces that you can no longer see, but the whole thing was sad. I added the large black piece with the numbers on it (which covered a lot) and the black strip with holes across the bottom, plus that pink and black pointy piece underneath the black holey piece.... and called it done. Does it belong in the Strange & Weird category??? I believe it does, but there is something I strangely like about it now. One day when I'm famous, people will fight over this one.
😂

Here is a small animation of the flag on my Mother's front porch. I made it a couple of years ago and may have used it in another 4th post, I can't remember, but it never gets old.
I love America, what it's meant to be, what the vast majority of people still want it to be. I have hope we can get back to some of that and I believe we are working on it. I'm not sure though, but I can still hope. Most of my lifetime it's been a decent place to be and I feel lucky to have been born here. God help us! We're going to need it.

I have some red/white/blue windsocks, so I went out on the porch to hang a couple of them from existing hooks above the porch rails. The first one went on fine, but as I was hanging the second, right as I got the loop on the hook a big gust of wind caught it, pulled it back off the hook and it flew over the rail and landed in the side yard! I only had my grippy socks on and the grass is still damp from the rain the last couple of days, so I didn't go get it. Within a half hour, I looked out the front window and the second one was gone too. I found that it at least landed on the porch, so I went back out, snitched a better hook from another hanging art thing and hung it up again. So far, so good.

My goal today is to get my kitchen into extra good order. In general that doesn't sound like a lot, but there are things that need to be done, things that need to be re-organized and find new home-spaces. I am finding it hard to get in there and stick with it, so there may be starts and detours and... you know, but still, I hope when it comes time to go to the art table for the evening, that the kitchen will be looking and feeling fine.
What a way to celebrate... right ? LOL
Hope you all have a great weekend.
Love ya!
Jace
Happy Holiday Jacey,
Happy July 4th.....
Sounds like you are having a lovely day.
Enjoyed seeing what you have been working on....all quite delightful.
The second one....looks like a teapot with three mugs ready for pouring out...the spots representing steam....lovely!
The third one has Bleujay looking for 007....with the black colour and the black jutting out bit on the top left.
Lovely gif.....thank you!
Kindest Regards,
Bleujay
Thank you! Such a lovely sunny day to get paid while doing whatever you want. LOL
These art pieces have been a crazy, but fun challenge. The are still challenging me a little when I see them in this post. LOL!!
A teapot! Every time you say what you see, I have to go back and look at see if I can see it too.
When I first tested the position for the large black piece on the last one, I could not see that much of the tip, so I moved it down just a tad so it would show better. Still small, but still there.
My Mom lives in such a pretty place. You cannot see the front of her house from the road as it sits nearer the back of her property, yet she still wanted that huge flag hanging out on the front of her house.... and so it was done!
Thanks for stopping over and for all of your kind words.
Happy 4th!
I had a 77 gold Nova. That must have been a popular color back then. Mine had the 305 instead of the faster 350 engine, but I loved that car anyways.
I don't remember the year of my husband's Nova, nor which engine it had in it, although I probably knew way back then.
Back in the day, if a guy had a Nova, GTO or Chevelle, they were the envy of their friends.
Happy Independence Day Jacey! That first piece is really lovely.
Yep, likely the last one will be the one to fetch the highest price one day when you become famous- don't laugh, you never know!
Enjoy organizing the kitchen. Always nice having no clutter afterwards!
Thank you ! Thank you!
I was having some fun with the famous part, but you know, they can find a balled up napkin with an ink blot on it and if it can be attributed to one of the masters, it's worth more than gold.
The art galleries will be all atither (yes I made that word up) .... once I am a goner. I'm having a premonition about that. 🤣
I read a story about a man that bought a house or a barn or something and there were some dumpsters there. They looked like "walk-in" things to me, but in them were a massive amount of art, some huge, some dirty, some wrapped. He researched and found that they were painted by a man named Francis Hines and if I remember correctly, the man had a profession in his life or maybe an engineer of some sort and when he retired, he painted and painted and painted and never did anything with the but stack them in a barn! So the finder, once he knew who painted them, contacted that man's family and they told him to keep them! (For REAL!!).... and he researched and found some folks that knew what they were doing in the art world and has sold them for a teetotal fortune! It was a fun story.
My disclaimer: I may have some details wrong in that story, it has been quite a while since I read it.
I am close to being done with the kitchen. I am on one of my currently famous breaks. I work till I think I can't like it anymore, then I take a break and go back fresh. I didn't used to be that way. I should have been done hours ago. LOL ! I can only face a little at a time.
Thanks for stopping in. I truly appreciate it.
And I really enjoyed your little story, lovely one! Serves that family right for turning their noses up at his art. Imagine the treasures some people discard after people pass on!
It's also terribly sad that so many artists only get recognition after they die!
I love it😅
"The New English Dictionary" by Jacey Boldart😂
Crikey your mum's porch is awesome! Even with that great big flag flapping about! 😀😀
Yes, its' a very nice place to sit out and enjoy nature.
Hello there! I'm waiting to read another of your crazy posts. Hope your ribs are continuing to get better.
My ribs are totally better now! I need to get writing. I have got right out the habit!
Glad to hear your ribs have mended.
I understand getting out of the habit. Although I have never posted daily or even every other day unless it was back at the very first, if I stop for a while, usually not intentionally, it doesn't leave any open spaces in my daily life where I am wondering what to do with the time. 😂 I'm guessing with children, there is sometimes not enough hours in the day for everything already.
Yeah, I think it is as my kids get a bit older I give myself with less time rather than more as there is so much running about to do. Taking them places, feeding them and tidying up after the messy bastards ,😀😀
I can't imagine posting daily now!
"tidying up after the messy bastards"
🤣
I'd pick the first one any day, somehow it calls my name. I love it.
Do you have any step by step posts about your work?
Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸
Hi!.. and Thank you!
I can't remember if I have ever done a post where I showed step by step. The closest I have come to anything like that is that once in a while I have done what the photo program in Google Photos calls an animation. Then I have loaded a few photos that I have taken along my process and it runs through them over and over from start to finish. It is not a photo at every step, just a few along the way that shows more added... and more added till the finish.
When I create, I normally do take some photos along the way, but not of every single addition. I do that so that I can see it with a different eye. When I am working, looking down at what I am doing, from time to time I like to see it from a little further away to see the vibe the overall design is giving off and the balance. I don't know if that makes sense, but when I take a photo and then pull it up on my phone, it gives me a little different view to consider..... even though it's really nearly the same! Sounds crazy I know. Once in a while I am adding something and I test a couple of different shapes or colors, so by taking a photo of each option before gluing them down, I can see them side by side to decide which one I like better. The collage folks I know call it auditioning although that kind of makes me laugh.
I don't go by rules, I go by eye. Yikes! Right? I somehow have a pretty good eye for color balance. I guess that helps make up for the fact I have no gift for realistic representation of things. It seems to work well enough for abstract, which has always been my favorite.
Thanks for stopping over ! I appreciate it.
It makes sense and thank you for describing the process. Maybe one day you can post some process photos as well 🙂
