I Was Frustrated
When I first started using Listnerds I really was very frustrated. The reason for this frustration was that I was using the platform incorrectly. Back in the day, Listnerds was a safe mailer with an all marketer membership. Having success with the platform was as easy as making a personalized LCP and filling the auto mailer with your daily emails going out to their memberships Gmail inboxes.
I had that same type of sales mechanism, so imagine my surprise when my emails were getting downvoted. Since Listnerds has been redesigned for the Hive Blockchain, upvotes and downvotes give and remove the ability to collect rewards for your outgoing mails. My mails were not working regardless of how good the sales copy was.
Comfort Zone Destroyed
What I was doing was not working so I had to come up with a better way. I watched some of the live stream videos that Jon and Blain put out talking about what Listnerds is changing into. Treating Listnerds like a marketing safe mailer is a mistake because it is not that.
Listnerds has become a content discovery platform and the members with voting power have made this change. I believe this to mainly be due to the members of the Hive BlockChain. Hive members do not want to be inundated with advertisements, they want content.
Ever Hear Content is King?
The early days of internet marketing are also the early days of the world wide web. The content did not really need to be all that good because the majority of web pages were those written by just regular people like you and me. If you blogged daily and did some promoting, you could make a good amount of sales.
Now content has to be of a higher quality. YouTube is a multi-billion dollar content delivery system, with advertising to generate income. Saying content is King is a massive understatement. For the various communities on Hive, they want targeted content. CTPTalk and LeoFinance members want quality content about our business-building journey or our crypto market experiences.
My Secret for ListNerds Success
Easy. Either promote your own or someone else's Hive Blog. Have enough CTP staked to allow you to vote on others’ mails. Send as many mails as your membership allows. Read, vote, and comment on other members’ Listnerds content.
Content is a much better word than mail. I say this because now that Listnerds is being used for content writing the mails are basically an introduction to their post. Basically, if you send, read, and vote as close to daily as you can manage, your reputation will begin to climb. You can match your reputation score to the amount of time and effort you give to Listnerds.
Since I Have Been Using ListNerds…
I should have said since I have been using Listnerds properly, I have received more engagement and upvotes on my Hive Blog, ListNerds tokens, and some new friends.

It would be ironic for decentralization-oriented and security-docused people on Hive blockchain to be using services such as GMail. Using Google and YouTube are bad enough.

True. I know most hive'ers are purists which does make sense. The blockchain may not have every solution however. Like the 3speak. I honestly have had big struggles there for example.
In the end, we have to use whatever platforms work in our favor with minimal grief. If it means Twitter or YouTube, then so be it.
I'm just saying we should stick with the Hive ecosystem of dApps as much as we can. Part of that is because the solution may be in there and it can solve our problems. Part of that is to support our fellow Hivers and/or business owners for whom Hive is their business.
If the solution doesn't exist in the Hive ecosystem (or if the solution which Hive has is "inadequate"), then we go to the Web3 circle of dApps to find a solution we can use. If Web3 doesn't have what we're looking for (or if it sucks also), then we go back to Web2 and Big Tech.
Searching is something we should be able to do easily on Hive, but it's not what it should be. Hive offers a searching solution, but it's not what it can be. For this reason I use the Web3 search engine Presearch. It uses Google-style search functionality while rewarding searchers with its PRE token (an ERC20). For SEO reasons I would use Google to see how a post is doing. For any other reason I begin with Presearch.

Yes to targeted content. I also meet amazing people that I think there's no way I could meet apart from ListNerds. Grateful to the brains behind LN for broadening our Hive connection.
Yes, agreed. Expanding exposure to your content is a big piece of the success puzzle for sure.

I understand that, Rob! I was having a hard time "getting" how to use the new ListNerds as well. It is a real disruptor in the mailer industry. These are the best kinds of posts too.

I love that word Lisa. Disruptor. It sure is and most mailers can't or won't adapt this model. It is very unique. I've definitely taken notes and made moves accordingly as you may know. Oh, and when can I get back your 1440 show? I've got some great new talking points/learnings to share with your audience.
It's a good descriptive word, isn't it. Yeah, I am thinking about rebooting the 1440 interviews sometime in the near future. When I do I will let you know. I was the same way. I was definitely not using LN to the full potential when I first signed up. Now I am having much more success and like you said, a ton more engagement on my posts. I am glad you figured out the trick! I found your post on Listnerds.

Listnerds is not your typical mailer. To do well, you have to use a different approach. There is a couple of people who haven't figured that out.
