I think death isn't the only issue, it's the fact that you have to live your entire life in the midst of ignorant beings, selfish animal egos you can't connect with, who won't share your quest for a collective meaning. That's loneliness is crushing. Dying would perhaps be okay, if it weren't for the sea of ignorance and oblivion and the relentless selfish beings who just push on and deny you that meaning.
That's like God's loneliness.

There is of course religion. But that's no solace. Because it's a delusion, and while those people try to live in a collective meaning, try to transcend themselves. the fact that their entire worldview is deluded just makes their effort tragicomical
With others' ignorance you're forced to be an ignorant ego yourself. Get sucked into it.
It takes superhuman effort to just keep from collapsing into a scheming ego in this life. Eventually you deplete your energy and have to choose ignorance. You can't go on examining your life indefinitely, that only makes you want to transcend yourself, only to be pulled down by all the crabs in the bucket.
On the last day of your life, when the light is about to flicker out, you realize it was all for nothing. Nothing has been achieved, no one learned anything, the world is filled with new beings who pursue their relentless pointless self-projects, your life signified nothing.
