I have been in love with this place for 8yrs and every time I come here it warms my heart to see that despite what you read in the media it is still the same place

Yes! That is so very inspiring. just to know that such places exist in the world gives me hope and restores my faith in humanity. These places are beacons of light. They do have their own money but this is more of a tourist thing, they accept Danish Kroner, Europe and visa and I'm sure Bitcoin is also used :)
You could easily live there without having to leave, this place has it all :)

Is just curious that they want to be autonomous and anarchist, yet they use the government imposed currency.
I'm curious to know about taxation in the community - are the community still liable to pay this?
It seems they still use bank accounts (if they are using VISA) so then not so autonomous.

This was my first thought as well. Reliance on government backed fiat does not make for economic freedom, let alone freedom from the shackles of political oppression, since the two are definitely intertwined. At the very minimum I would have expected to see some form of cyrpto currency adoption. At least, the FSP in new Hampshire, albeit significantly larger in numbers does freely advocate BTC and agora business models.

After I read Mark's post, I did a bit of research and spoke to a friend who lives there. I think the concept sounds great - it's important to take a stand, but I think it also has many holes.
I came to the conclusion that it is very difficult to escape the banking system, and that one can be autonomous without being part of such a community.
Yes you would think that a crypto would be in circulation or some sort of trading tool.
This is why in a macro sense economic>politics as money defines the policies and laws in place that enable a collective society to function. If you get a chance, look up The Valorian Society. They had published some interesting works based around individual sovereignty and wrote on the subject several decades ago. It is eerie how they envisioned, especially the book, Word Controlled Humans.
This just shows, that when people join together and the willpower is there everything is possible. Great post mark and family :-)

Wow, I think I need to put this place on my travel list! I just got back from Damanhur - other community who has a bit different approach but really puzzled me with their Art. I love this so much!!! Of course, you would never hear anything positive about Christiania in the media. The globalist owned media has their marching orders, herd everyone into big cities so they can be watched and manipulated at will.

P.S. I still miss my kiddos when they were little and I would ride them around in their Burley (a kid trailer on the back of my bicycle). Those days were so magical.

What an absolutely wonderful and creative place to live. It must have such free and positive energy. It reminds me of when I lived in SF during the flower power, free spirit time when people went into the Haight Ashbury area and completely changed the entire neighborhood. I was young then but I remember how the neighborhood went from crime ridden to something eclectic and charming. Your family looks like they are having a great time. Have fun and be free!!! :D

It's heart warming to hear that this place has done so well and managed to stay despite the 'higher powers' wanting to replace it. I fear countries with enough freedom to allow this sort of place to exist are becoming scarcer.

Crazy town, was there 15 years ago. They sold Cannabis in the open. Got myself a funky hand made hat and ended up in a police raid. Nevertheless I didn't want to leave.
Wow this place looks beautiful! I've always been interested in living in a "alternative community" or what most people would probably call a hippie commune or something haha! Very inspiring to see more examples of free living.

very inspiring post thanks ! i love a concept like this and i would love to create or join a project like this :o really nice, respect for what thos living there have accomplished. in my opinion its the only way to change the system to peacefully break away from it and just not need the system anymore and then well then they can f*ck right off with their system. and that i find mighty cool ! keep doing what you do youre amazing !
