I hate Disney's "Rebels". The Empire doe not feel as impressive as it was. Maybe I just miss the clone troopers.

Have you seen captain Rex on rebels?

Yeah, he got old and a bit chubby.

Star Wars died to me when they broke from the original story. I haven't read all the novels (who could, there's so so many), but I read enough to know that wasn't when and where Han was supposed to meet his end.

I can appreciate wanting to shake things up a bit, but if that's the route they wanted to take they should've started a beginning to end (from the Sith being a species) anthology and just remade episodes 1-9 later, or picked another trilogy to lead with (Darth Bane would've been my wet dream come true).

Instead they butchered an amazing story that deserved so much better. I'll never forgive Disney for what they've done or Lucas for letting them do it.

R.I.P. Star Wars. The Force isn't with us anymore.

I have heard that Harrison ford begged Abrams to let Han die on screen. Rumor has it that it was a condition of ford returning. Personally I think it was one of the most heroic deaths I have ever seen on screen. Han is my favorite character ever. That movie was a love letter and a goodbye to him. He went out trying to save his son to the very last...

I do not dispute that it was a heroic death for one of the greatest causes of all, but that isn't my complaint. Star Wars is a vast and rich source to draw from to reboot the series. I get that the last 3 episodes needed to be made to finally bring a long awaited close to the story so many of us have waited for, some pretty much our entire lives. My complaint is there are resources available to breath new life into it without deviating so severely from the story.

Spoiler Alert
It was the wrong son that turned to the dark side and not for the right reason, which I felt was also somewhat heroic in a sad way. They altered the entire family structure, and the lives of all the main characters and in doing so cheated Luke out of some of his greatest moments, as well as cheating Leah out of her birthright.

The entire thing gave me the impression that Disney just didn't want to pay dues to all the independent authors who have collaborated over the years to make this amazing universe the marvel of storytelling and community it has become. I concede that I often have a skewed outlook towards corporations, especially those as gargantuan as Disney, so it's possible, maybe even likely that there's a lot I'm not taking into consideration regarding that line of thought, but I still stand on the principle that the story deserved to be told in it's original form, saving room for minor tweaks along the way to pay homage where appropriate.

I could likely rant on this for hours, but I won't. I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your reply, respect your perspective, and hopefully offer a little bit of insight as to why I felt this just wasn't the way to go with it. Thanks for the exchange and please accept my gratitude.

I completely get where you are coming from. I am a HUGE fan of the Timothy Zahn books especially. If they would have simply made the Thrawn Trilogy into movies I would have been thrilled. I actually do think the new team was influenced by several authors including Zahn. Ben turning to the Dark Side may be a shout out to Jacen Solo in the books. I am also impressed to see Thrawn in the Rebels TV show. I think he will make his way into a movie or two before it is all over. And with the universe as huge as it is, I wouldn't be surprised to see some Anderson, Jeter and other authors' ideas worked in. They are going to making these forever. We may all get to see our favorite stories told at some point.

Always happy to converse about different points of view about Star Wars! Thanks for taking the time to share yours.

i think its funny videos

Here are my top 3 star wars movies of all time:

1.The Empire Strikes Back
2.Rogue One
3.Return of the Jedi

What are yours?

Nice.
I also like all three of them

  1. Empire Strikes Back
  2. A New Hope
  3. Force Awakens

Although I do love Return of the Jedi. Force awakens took the lead because I saw it in the theater with my children. Their reaction pushed it over the top.

Force Awakens, Empire Strikes Back, A New Hope.

I dont't get why people like rogue one, it's such a bad story. The hero doesn't drive the story. there's very little chemistry between the characters on screen. It's very much like an amusement ride, without much depth at all.

Hey, can you guys answer me, can I use tag "introduceyourself" all the time when I talk about myself or it's one time usage?

Typically it is one time only for your intitial introduction.

I used it only once. Then you can do blogging or write anything you want.

I do like a bit of the old Star Wars! Thanks for posting this!!!!

are great news, I am very anxious to be able to see episode IX hopefully this lives up to expectations! thank you very much for sharing all the info

I am one of the series biggest fans, so I will follow with abated breath.

nice post @hanshotfirst, thanks for sharing new star wars improvements with us.

The force awakens was not good. It certainly wasn't Jar Jar bad but still not good. In saying that I don't think the directing was the problem, it was the story line.

I was biased by the fact I saw it with my kids and approached as a kids movie. Looking at it through their eyes really made me see it much differently.

I grew up on the original Star Wars, but I accept that magic may not be recaptured. There was certainly no 'new hope' when we saw the prequels. That said, Force Awakens was fun, even if it re-hashed some of the original. Even if there was a gender change it's still nerf herder to star base killer. What I don't want from a Star Wars movie is lots of politics. I hope the next two can at least keep the fun element. We've also got some other movies in that universe to come. Entertain us!

There is a simpsons episode that masterfully rips in the prequels over complicated politics. I will have to find a gif of the at-at breaking through a wall, putting glasses on and reading some legal document. It was fantastic!

Not sure if I've seen that one.

Trade negotiations, blah bah, galactic parliament, blah blah, racial stereotypes...

Get to the lightsaber battles!

:)

After Return Of The Jedi, Star Wars is like watching the wheels of your life slowly falling off. That magic they had in the late 70s and early 80s will never be repeated. Even if you had Jesus playing Luke Skywalker!

I am biased by the fact I saw the two most recent in the theater with my kids. They loved them and that joy definitely affected my experience in a very positive way.

I just can`t get into the new era of Star Wars at all. Maybe I am just to loyal with the very 1st 3 films as it gave me a special escape in my childhood.

I`m sure a lot of kids will be adoring it too.

Just like as a kid in the 80s watching all the early Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Goonies and the Back To The Future films too!

So excited to see how Frodo deals with Voldemort!!

Spoiler. They jump in the tardis and escape.

Me and my daughter were following Star Wars Rebels in Disney channel. We are bit excited to air S4. She's learning to read and I will introduce the book soon. Since she like it she will be a fan too @hanshotfirst.

That show is surprisingly good.

I love Star Wars, thanks for sharing the information. :)

Star wars is kool with a k

I've been keeping up on the Star Wars news all week and got myself up to a fever pitch when the director position for IX opened up again.

But then they announced is would be Abrams and... well...I didn't know what to think. I liked the idea of stylistically distinct directors taking their shot at the various episodes, and I'm particularly excited by Ryan Johnson.

Admittedly, I wasn't so excited about IX being directed by the jackass behind Jurassic World - but I though maybe we would get someone new who pushed the comfort envelope a little.

Having said that, I agree that this will definitely put to rest lingering questions among me and my geeky brethren regarding Abrams's directorial skill. I think he's very good at making everyone smile - so whatever IX ends up being, I'm certain I won't be initially disappointed, right after leaving the theater. The question is, how will I feel two weeks later... and I just don't know.
..

I think you're right about Abrams. Although I don't feel he's like, the savior of SW everybody sees, I do think it is the safest bet to put him on charge of the final episode considering he is the one that started this new trilogy. Buuut Gareth Edwards did and amazing job with Rogue One and it looks like Rian Johnson did it too with VIII, so it could have been great if any of those two were chosen. OR THE THREE OF THEM, IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!!!

I so love Star Wars, and almost as good as the film is play the game Star Wars Battlefront, - the beta of Star Wars Battlefront II opens at the start of October and it's going to be lit

Think I just got inspired by This post to watch every Star Wars Movie That ever Came out! lol

If only Han Solo had shot 1st .... a short movie I made. https://steemit.com/starwars/@offgridlife/if-only-han-had-shot-1st

Oh wait. I mean I can have a civil discourse with them and accept my victory with dignity and class... and then rub it in their stupid faces!

Somebody has been reading @lordvader posts.

JJ had said in a post Force Awakens article that he regretted not having a part in the next two Star Wars episodes. Wish granted, Mr Abrams.

Just wanted to drop a fan theory I read and it was pretty mind blowing. SPOILER-ISH SPOILERS BELOW EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN TWO YEARS:

  • Kylo didn't kill Hans.

  • Hans was the one who activated the lightsaber. The camera was never on the hands on the lightsaber.

  • Why? Hans knew that his son was manipulated and controlled by Stoke and there was no way out for him. Hans did that to fool Stoke into thinking that Kylo would now be a complete Sith. It's also to save Kylo because Stoke would kill him should he fail in his task.

  • This gives Kylo a smidgen of light left in him.

Ta dahhhh

Oh I thought Jurassic World was alright. Just a popcorn movie with Jimmy Fallon's super random cameo.

Great news as they always give us Star Wars especially now that we can enjoy itt with special effects like never before @hanshotfirst

I am not a big fan of star wars series but I am a big fan of the animation and graphics they use in it. Even the concepts which they used in movies are now becoming a reality in the modern world. Their way of thinking and farsightedness is a great source of inspiration to the inventors and scientists.

I am a starwars fan also....

hilarious steemit post. lol i love the memes. may the 4th be with you.

I have never whenever seen even one-star wars film in my life
I am one of the game plan most noteworthy fans.
