It's time to put the excuses aside
Now is the time for results!

Welcome to the FIRST fitness contest on Steemit


This contest is open to anyone who wants to start making healthier life choices, and make some money from it too!

About the contest:


The contest will take place over the span of 1 month.
Starting Monday, July 10th, and Ending Thursday, August 10th.
At the start of each week, I will post a workout regime that you can follow if you want.
You don't have to follow it, but it's recommended.

Additionally, you must weigh in at the start of every week.

Whoever loses the most weight over the duration of the contest will win:


100 SBD

ADDITIONALLY:
Everyone who remains consistent for the ENTIRE duration of the contest will win SBD.
The way this will work:
the total payout for all of my contest posts will be divided amongst all the people who complete the contest.
ex.(If the total payout for posts is $1000, and 10 people complete the challenge, each person will win $100 worth of SBD).



So sounds good, how do I enter?

To enter:


  • Post a comment on this post saying "I want to get in shape!"

  • Add a video of your current weight along with the comment (it has to be a video of you getting on a scale for proof. Please state your steemit name too).


  • To remain in the contest:


  • You must post a workout video at LEAST 3 times a week, with the tag "getinshapechallenge". The video can be as long as you want, just need proof you are being consistent throughout the week! NO SLACKERS!

  • At the end of each week, you must weigh in. Same procedure as before, a video of you on a scale.


  • So, everyone wins.
    If you remain consistent, you will be rewarded.
    If you've been holding off exercising, hopefully, this will be your incentive!

    Seriously though, good timing. Been knocking the rust off after being lazy, so following a plan for the month might be just right. Especially since we can change it up.

    So when we post, we're just posting as we would anything, but tagging it?

    What if we are skinny as hell and want to gain muscle?

    that's a little bit harder to hold a 1-month contest for :/
    But might be a good idea for the next contest, if this one does well.

    You can still join in though, you will win SBD regardless of how much weight you lose.

    Can I join in on that as well! Not interested in losing weight (and since I'm supposed to be training for a Marathon, I should be exercising right now) . But I sort of feel like I'm starting to turn into the "skinny-fat" person right now!

    He mate, Just few months ago I lost 22 pounds, Now I'm on bulking. If in future you have a bulking contest, I'll definitely participate. But still I'll be looking forward for your posts. That'll teach me a lot. :)

    This contest is focused on weight loss, so you won't be eligible for the 100SBD prize,

    BUT

    If you finish the contest, you will earn an SBD reward, depending on the total payout for the contest posts!

    I want to get in shape. However, I am not at home, I'm on the road and weighing myself is not possible at the moment. However, I weighed myself the other day and I was 68 kg. I will post a video of my weight at the earliest possible convenience and post videos of my workouts. unfortunately, I will not be on the same scale each time, so i'll have to simply average my weights and go by the trend. My videos of my workouts will be interesting as I'm walking from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic right now and my workouts will be walking ridiculous amounts of mileage most days. I may even do some Steem posts about my travels.

    Week 2: Workout #2: Rainy day in Toulouse, so we didn't go on some crazy long hike this week, but instead, holed up in a hotel and got some work done. My workout today was wall squats, a mat workout, and running the 5 flights of stairs in the hotel several times.

    Video for July 13th. OK, I'm TOTALLY lame and I used the video camera the wrong way, so you will not see ME in the video, and you'll not see a single thing I was talking about in the video because I had the camera pointed the wrong way. But I swear it was me and you could see the camera bouncing up and down as I was talking and walking! LOL. I hope that one 'counts'. I'll try to do an extra one this week.

    Unfortunately, I can't accept that.
    The video part is the only strict policy I have for the contest, for trust reasons, and because I'm putting some of my own money into this.

    Just wanted to comment on the 'most weight lost' as the end point. That always favors large men because A) they have a lot of weight to lose and B) Can usually drop a ton of weight quickly.

    A better measurement is % of total body weight lost, because it evens the playing field a bit more between men and women. It still favors REALLY heavy people over moderately heavy people, but it's still a better indicator than just total weight lost.

    Just thought I'd throw my $0.02 into the ring! Couple of people explain it here on Reddit.

    I know this, that's why I made it so everyone participating wins, not just the "biggest loser".

    Unfortunately, I still have been nowhere near a scale. Maybe a pharmacy has one, so I'll do my best, but I'm living in hotels in small towns in Europe for the next two months, so that is a challenge.

    Week 1: Weigh-in: Here's my weigh in video. Finally found a pharmacy with a scale! I'm officially starting out at, lets say 71.5 kg. That's 157.6 pounds. I'm already down by at least 10 pounds since the last time I weighed myself about a month and a half ago. I forgot to say my SteemIt name in the video! Sorry.

    Week 1: Workout 2: Here's my vid for July 14th. Happy Bastille Day from France. This ended up being a 22 mile day. Holy crap! That was not planned at all, but it worked out OK. Sorry it didn't get put up yesterday, but our hotel had no internet.

    Week 2, workout #4: Walk from Bram to Gramazie for about an 8 -9 mile walk. Watch this vid, as you'll love the scenery walking through fields of sunflowers in the South of France. Super nice day.

    That photo is awesome! Arnold is one of my favorite fitness masters. Only one I like more is probably Bruce Lee. Have you ever read Arnolds Book "Encyclopedia Of Bodybuilding?
    Its quite epic even if ur nota body builder.

    What if our goal is to get in shape by gaining weight? cause i actually do need to gain weight..lol. I weigh like 125 lbs, im 26 and male. can I still enter? if I get in shape in the opposite direction and just try to build muscle instead of losing weight? lol. cause im totally down for that. I have Lyme Disease and Biotoxin illness so im pretty skinny..been wanting to gain weight for years.. but its hard for me to gain weight.. thanks for the post either way. have fun people.

    So....is this still happening? Just wondering since I'd only seen a few people and no workout posted. I know we don't have to use @illestbambi 's workout....just wondering if we were still doing this since it didn't appear a workout was put up.

    I assume it is still on. Few people have posted there own, if not, honestly, this is still a great way to keep other accountable for their workouts!
