My Metaphoric Silver Shadow ..
Oh how things continually and dynamically change as life shuffles along .. I am now in my "Silver Years" of life (per the Silver Bloggers Community guidelines.. lol), and as I ponder what has passed and what is still left to come, I can't seem to ignore the "Shadows" I am presently casting. Maybe I really shouldn't speak in metaphors, but I just can't seem to shake this one.. And Why Would I?
I am well into my 40's and now knocking on the door of year 50.. Even though it is hard to believe that I am just a few short years from turning a half a century old, I have managed to look at my life in retrospect and really feel those years spent building it. So much has gone into making me who I am, and I truly think that I may be just scratching the surface on finding out what I value most and most importantly.. What Makes Me Happy.

A Community of individuals like me, who are in their 'Silver Years' of life too. The Silver Bloggers ~ A place to share ones 'Silver' thoughts and lives, as they unfold in front of us. Silver Shadow ..
My Life, My Metaphor, My Silver Name .. 'SILVER SHADOW' .. Well at least here in this community I suppose. My Silver Shadow isn't just a name to use while posting into this community, but a metaphor of my life, in a way I suppose. My silver shadow follows me wherever I go, casting itself to the ground where I walk along the path of life.
Sometimes my Silver Shadow precedes me .. While at other times is is left trailing behind. Regardless of where it is, it is never far from where I am in my life. It is unlike other shadows, for it is not present because of the light shining all about me.. No.. This shadow is created and fueled from the life I choose to live, day in and day out.
My Silver Shadow is .. A shinny reflection of who I was, who I am, and who I want to be. A legacy of sorts. Maybe I won't make a huge impact on this world, and maybe I won't be remembered by many. But I hope my Silver Shadow remains here in this world after I am gone, even if it is just for a short while. And maybe this is a good place for a quote from an old movie...

I've Been Thinking A Lot About This Lately ..
Not so much the quote word for word, but at least the meaning and point behind it. I don't so much care to lead a life of fame or fortune, where I am loved and remembered by many. My hope for this life is to be loved deeply, and remembered more intimately, by just a few.
It is my hope that I can create a legacy of memories in the time I have left.
Now that I am in my Silver Years .. and with every day that passes by, I feel more in tune with what matters most.. Spending time with family and friends, spending time with my wife and little Molly, spending time doing the things that make me happy, and spending time taking care of myself. I can't avoid spending time in my career, or planning for the future, but I realize more and more that time is limited and making it count matters.
Change doesn't happen quickly .. I'm not looking to change my entire life and flip it upside down, just because I am thinking that life is too short for the frivolous time wasting stuff. No. But slowly I am seeing what's more important and trying to find the best way to forge ahead on a path where my Silver Shadow will be most reflective. I don't have all the answers, nor do I have the most experience with living life to the fullest..
But that's what our Silver Years are all about. Right? Slowly finding our own way while living the best example of a life we can for those closest to us. Those close enough to appreciate the 'Shadows of our Lives'.
I will create a Silver Shadow. A shadow that will trail along with me through the life that I lead. A shadow that is preceding me at times, weaved into the shadows of others I hold dear and true. A shadow, that in time will fade and eventually disappear from this earth, but will still trail my soul as it departs to be with those few .. that I have loved deeply and truly.
My Silver Shadow won't be remembered by all, but will be remembered by a few .. A few that count .. Just a few, and that's okay by me.

I'm right there with you. Maybe not quite as old, but I am decently into my 40's. Been spending a lot of time lately thinking about how old I am. Things have definitely slowed down a bit. On so many levels! I get to celebrate my anniversary today though, so that is cool ;)

Thanks! I apologize for making my comment about me :) I realized after I posted it that it was sus. I used to have a friend that would get mad when they played Old Time Rock and Roll on the oldies station because it was from the 80's not the 50's, 60's and 70's. Now it doesn't even matter!
