Silence, oh precious silence as we awoke in the new place this morning.
Smaller than our previous home, as only two bedrooms, but the pros seriously outweigh the cons in this case.
For one thing we only have two neighbors at the left and the right and nothing else. Bonus and then the other homes are across the private road with minimal traffic. No sirens of ambulances or the noise of big trucks as we are no longer next to a busy town intersection.
So I popped out with the camera this morning to take a few shots to show you.
We were up at sunrise yesterday morning to start with the move and it was a long and a hard day. This photo was taken by me at our old house.
Must have done at least 10 trips with the car between the old place and the new place.
Great to see that we have granadilla fruits on the the front fences of the new place.
A wonderful surprise as a little Southern Double-collared sunbird landed on an antenna on the roof to come and say good morning to me.
This guy also came to greet me.
I think that we will be happy here for a while until I can find our dream home on one of the mountain farms.
What a difference as this is across the road and I have only counted 3 cars passing our new place thus far, instead of 500-1000 cars, taxis and trucks passing at the old house in the morning peak hour. Sheer bliss!
And that's it for now, as we still have a lot to do.
One would think that now after our 10th move, that we would be able to find things after we moved into the new place, but that's a fallacy as last night I had to search in the boxes to find my tooth brush. Now I am not going to say anything about finding my underpants:) Things became a bit hurried at the other side, as we had cleaning staff arriving and also the carpet cleaners. So nothing was loaded into the moving truck like we planned and now we are sitting with a mountain of boxes to sort out.
But such is life and we will slowly start settling in.

Peace and quiet is what we all want and only until you move do you realise how special it really is. I looked at a house years ago but the buzz of the freeway over 10km away was always just there and couldn't bear the thought of having that continuously. Funny as another house in the English countryside I really wanted and that was on a flight path so it was a different type of noise which I didn't mind.
I was just saying somewhere else that it is so strange how life can condition us. When we bought the old place, we were on a tight rope to find a quick spot and it seemed so perfect and ideal. But nobody told it about the noise and that was hellish. Imaging a screaming ambulance siren at 2am in the morning passing by within 10 metres from our bedroom. I could never get used to the noise and yet some of the residents have been staying there for 30 years and more.
Somehow a plane overhead does have that special sound that makes one long for travelling !LOL

One of our houses in England was a bad decision and only found out on day 1 when there was street fight in the road outside. I had done my research so this was unexpected and took a while to help clean up the area. Noise is not somehting you can ignore or get away from as a hospital is always going to be there along with the emergency service vehicles.
Bad news and glad that you could help to get the area clean. Funny how the unexpected can always pop up.
Not only the hospital as it is one of the town's major intersections and the house was on the corner of the intersection. Lately some youngsters have cars that sound like rockets because they put blasters into their car exhausts. Screaming motorbikes, cars racing late night and the air brakes of the big trucks add to the din.
Moving into a new apartment has its own joy mostly when you have less to worry over those noise that won't allow you experience the beauty of nature when it comes to quietness. You would be so busy t know trying arrange the house . What a sweet new place you got. Enjoy your new home.

Sorry for the delay, but on Thursday I have made a hike with colleagues after work and I came home too late to reply. Friday was very busy and I came home late and tired too. Today I have made another hike to a little mountain peak and a couple of minutes ago I thought it's time to do some replies before you forget me 😎
On Thursday it was hot and hazy, so I have made only a few photos when I saw one of the few clouds.
And this morning was almost cloudless in the beginning, but that changes shortly before sunrise, where a dark gray cloud blocked the sunrise almost completely. But later the clouds cleared up and I got some colours.

BEER.Congratulations on your home. Peace and quiet, that shouldn't take long to get use to. Moving is never fun. It may take a while to unpack and get settled in, but what ever it takes I'm sure you will be doing it with a smile on your face. Having a partner that is good at filling in all of the necessary paperwork is half of the battle, give me the boxes any day.
Thank you my friend and I will give all for peace and quiet. We only realize now how the old place affected our health. The unpacking is not a problem and I discovered a few things that I have been searching for. It's the simple curtain hanging and fitting of the curtain rails that I seriously dislike.
The same thing all over and over and thank goodness it is only a little 2 bedroom house. The builder was a bit window happy as there are nine of them, all calling for curtains.
Good news is that for the first time we have a garage and I am sure that our car is very happy.
But it is the silence that counts and yes, it is wonderful.

Silence is Golden has a history here, as in the 60s two different bands here made two songs in the 60s that were released at the same time. If I remember correctly.
The title of both songs were "Silence is Golden" and there was a big fight about it.
Different tunes and lyrics of course but both bands claimed the title.
I can't remember how the fight ended.

We're looking at our options as running a big house and the bnb gets a bit much at times.
KZN coastal regions are nice for a holiday but with the threat of more storms like we had in April, we're not so keen, but we know we are being led by God and that we will find our little dream home when the time is right.

Yes, so many are now scaling down to smaller places and easier lifestyles and there are stunning figures of people up north, south and west migrating into the western cape province. From what I have seen during my travels all over, the cape has the best service delivery and it's a pleasure to explore around in the countryside.
The Lord has already appointed your permanent place and I am sure that it will appear in His perfect timing.
