Hola hivers! Espero que estén bien. Este es un post muy especial para mí porque voy a compartir con ustedes cómo fue mi incursión en las artes plásticas. Fue una etapa muy bonita de mi vida que duro durante toda mi niñez, por lo que me trae recuerdos inolvidables y muy bonitos.
Hi hivers! I hope you are well. This is a very special post for me because I am going to share with you how my foray into the plastic arts was. It was a very beautiful stage of my life that lasted throughout my childhood, which is why it brings back unforgettable and very beautiful memories.

En este viaje por la memoria los llevaré a conocer como fueron mis inicios en este mundo, las diferentes exposiciones personales que hice y mis participaciones en un bonito concurso que se realiza anualmente en mi provincia. Asimismo, podrán disfrutar de una pequeña selección que hice de mis pinturas para ustedes y se sorprenderán al conocer cual era mi estilo preferido de pintura. Bienvenidos y comencemos.
On this trip down memory lane, I will take you to know how my beginnings in this world were, the different personal exhibitions I did and my participation in a beautiful contest that is held annually in my province. Likewise, you will be able to enjoy a small selection that I made of my paintings for you and you will be surprised to find out what my preferred style of painting was. Welcome and let's get started.
Primeros pasos:mis inicios
First steps: my beginnings
Todo comenzó cuando tenía 6 años. Yo era una niña que siempre andaba dibujando y mi abuela me inscribió en la Casa de la Cultura de mi ciudad. Este es un lugar para que los niños y adolescentes desarrollen sus habilidades de dibujo, canto y baile.
Las clases eran todos los sábados a las 9 de la mañana. Desde temprano mi mamá me levantaba y me preparaba las cosas: una carpeta con hojas blancas, los colores, plumas y crayolas punto mi mamá me dejaba allí y luego me recogía a las 11:00.
Durante todo este tiempo tuve una profesora muy buena, que me ayudó a mejorar muchísimo y que me acompañaba a todos los concursos, pues poco a poco me convertí en una de sus mejores alumnas tanto así que llegue a realizar dos exposiciones personales en la Casa de la Cultura, sin dudas ella estaba muy orgullosa de mí. Como empecé con solo 6 años, mis primeros dibujos eran en hojas usando colores, plumones y crayolas y eran muy simples. Aquí les dejo algunos en donde pueden ver como solía dibujar a las personas en ese tiempo, me resulta gracioso como solía hacer el pelo y los zapatos.
It all started when I was 6 years old. I was a girl who was always drawing and my grandmother enrolled me in the House of Culture in my city. This is a place for children and teenagers to develop their drawing, singing and dancing skills.
Classes were every Saturday at 9 in the morning. My mom would get me up early and prepare my things: a folder with white sheets, colors, pens, and crayons. My mom would leave me there and then pick me up at 11:00.
During all this time I had a very good teacher, who helped me improve a lot and who accompanied me to all the competitions, because little by little I became one of her best students so much so that I got to hold two personal exhibitions at the House of Culture, no doubt she was very proud of me. Like I started when I was only 6 years old, my first drawings were on sheets using colors, markers and crayons and they were very simple. Here are some where you can see how I used to draw people at that time, I find it funny how I used to do the hair and the shoes.
Luego ya empecé a pintar con témperas sobre cartulina y a realizar mis primeros cuadros. Recuerdo que llevar un bolso con todas mis témperas y pinceles de todos tamaños. Me encantaba sentarme y empezar a crear mis cuadros. No sé si esto le sorprenderá un poco, pero mi estilo preferido era la pintura abstracta. Me encantaba llevar mis ideas y muchas veces mis sueños a una pintura. Era creación pura, pues podía ser libre de dibujar lo que quisiera aún cuando no tuviera mucho sentido y me encantaba que todo fuera muy colorido.
Aquí les dejo una foto que me tomo un extranjero que pasaba por mi aula, la cual me la dio por la ventana. En ese momento tenía 8 años y el cuadro en el que estaba trabajando se llama "El huevo", que le mostraré más adelante.
Then I started to paint with temperas on cardboard and to make my first paintings. I remember carrying a bag with all my temperas and brushes of all sizes. I loved to sit down and start creating my paintings. I don't know if this will surprise you a bit, but my preferred style was abstract painting. I loved taking my ideas and many times my dreams to a painting. It was pure creation, because I could be free to draw whatever I wanted even when it didn't make much sense and I loved that everything was very colorful.
Here I leave a photo that a foreigner who passed by my classroom took, which he gave it to me through the window. At that time he was 8 years old and the painting he was working on is called "The Egg", which I will show you later.

First personal exhibition
Mi primera exposición personal fue en el 2004 cuando tenía 8 años. Fue en la Casa de la Cultura y se llamó "Un arcoiris para Wendy". Fue una noche muy bonita a la que asistieron mi familia, vecinos, mis profesores y compañeros del aula. La mayoría de los cuadros son pinturas abstractas, pues como dije, eran las que más me gustaban pintar pero también hay otras dónde se pueden ver paisajes, niños y varios dedicados al apóstol José Martí.
Aún conservo el folleto de esta exposición, en el que pueden ver cómo me describen de forma muy poética y hermosa, pueden ver algunos de mis logros y la lista de las obras a presentar.
My first personal exhibition was in 2004 when I was 8 years old. It was at the House of Culture and it was called "A rainbow for Wendy." It was a very beautiful night attended by my family, neighbors, my teachers and classmates. Most of the paintings are abstract paintings, because as I said, they were the ones I liked to paint the most, but there are also others where you can see landscapes, children and several dedicated to the apostle José Martí.
I still have the brochure of this exhibition, in which you can see how they describe me in a very poetic and beautiful way, you can see some of my achievements and the list of works to be presented.
Aquí les dejo una selección de algunos cuadros de esta exposición. Muchos de ellos están en mal estado, pues con el paso del tiempo se han deteriorado y muchos otros lamentablemente ya no los tengo.
Here is a selection of some paintings from this exhibition. Many of them are in poor condition, as they have deteriorated over time and unfortunately I no longer have many others.
Este collage a continuación también formó parte de la exposición. Son dibujos hechos con crayolas sobre papel y cómo ven el uso de los colores fue algo que siempre me caracterizó como pintora, así como mi amor por la pintura abstracta.
This collage below was also part of the exhibition. They are drawings made with crayons on paper and how they see the use of colors was something that always characterized me as a painter, as well as my love for abstract painting.
Segunda exposición personal
Second personal exhibition
Mi segunda exposición se realizó también en la Casa de la Cultura en el 2006, cuando yo tenía 10 años. Se tituló "Entre colores" y fue bastante parecida a la primera pues primaba el color y las obras abstractas. Al igual que en la primera aún conservo el folleto de la exposición donde pueden ver mis resultados y la lista de obras.
My second exhibition was also held at the House of Culture in 2006, when I was 10 years old. It was titled "Between Colors" and it was quite similar to the first one since color and abstract works prevailed. As in the first one, I still have the exhibition brochure where you can see my results and the list of works.

Esta foto me la tomaron en esta exposición y atrás de mí se pueden ver dos de los cuadros: uno dedicado a Martí y el otro sobre la vida en el mar.

Concursos: Planeta Azul 🌎

Además de aprender mucho en la Casa de la Cultura y realizar dos exposiciones personales, siempre participaba en los diferentes concursos que se convocaban .Me gustaba participar mucho porque esto me daba algo sobre lo que pintar y además me daba variedad porque además de pintar mis abstractos podía dibujar sobre otras cosas como paisajes, temas de medio ambiente, fechas históricas, entre otras temáticas.
Gracias a muchos de estos concursos pude viajar a la Habana, pues recuerdo que algunos premios para los ganadores consistían en un viaje de ida y regreso a la Habana dónde nos llevaban al Parque Lenin y Expocuba y por supuesto iba acompañada de mi mamá.
In addition to learning a lot at the House of Culture and holding two personal exhibitions, I always participated in the different contests that were held. I liked to participate a lot because this gave me something to paint about and also gave me variety because in addition to painting my abstracts I could draw on other things such as landscapes, environmental issues, historical dates, among other themes.
Thanks to many of these contests I was able to travel to Havana, as I remember that some prizes for the winners consisted of a round trip to Havana where they took us to Lenin Park and Expocuba and of course I was accompanied by my mother.
Pero el más importante de los concursos era y sigue siendo el Planeta Azul, un concurso de música y pintura que se celebra cada año en Pinar del Río. Es un gran show para los niños que dura 3 días donde cada noche muchos niños cantan y el público puede votar por su preferido. También entre canción y canción el público se entretiene con otros niños que actúan y presentan a los cantantes. En mi caso participaba en pintura, este concurso era para nosotros como los Oscars de la pintura. Recuerdo que la profesora siempre nos decía que pintáramos todo lo que decía la canción tema de concurso, que hablaba sobre el día y la noche, las mariposas y flores, la lluvia y los niños de todos los países.
Aquí les dejo los cuadros que aún conservo de este concurso, verán que empecé muy pequeña pero con el paso del tiempo me volví mejor y cada año obtenía el primer lugar.
But the most important of the contests was and still is the Blue Planet, a music and painting contest that is held every year in Pinar del Río. It is a great show for children that lasts 3 days where every night many children sing and the public can vote for their favorite. Also, between songs, the audience is entertained by other children who perform and present the singers. In my case, I participated in painting, this contest was for us like the Oscars of painting. I remember that the teacher always told us to paint everything that the contest theme song said, which talked about day and night, butterflies and flowers, rain and children from all countries.
Here are the paintings that I still have from this contest, you will see that I started at a very young age, but with the passage of time I became better and every year I obtained first place.
Esta fue mi primera participación en el Planeta Azul, solo tenía seis años. Se preguntarán porque hay dos pinturas, bueno es una historia graciosa, el dibujo a la izquierda fue el primero que hice para el concurso pero a la profesora se le extravío y me pidieron que lo volviera a hacer, pues ya había que entregarlo. Yo hice lo que pude tratando de recordar mi dibujo para replicarlo y resultó que el segundo fue mejor pues con él obtuve el primer lugar 😁.
This was my first participation in the Blue Planet, I was only six years old. You will wonder why there are two paintings, well it's a funny story, the drawing on the left was the first one I did for the contest but it got lost and they asked me to redo it, because it had to be handed in. I did what I could trying to remember my drawing to replicate it and it turned out that the second one was better because with it I got first place 😁.
En este otro obtuve el tercer lugar.
In this one I got third place.
En estos que le mostraré a continuación obtuve el primer lugar en todos, estos están un poco deteriorados pues son viejos.
In these that I will show you next I got the first place in all of them, these are a bit deteriorated because they are old.

Muchacha tu eres una baúl de sorpresas,muy bonita tus pinturas y la forma en que las presentaste en tu post. Que lástima que no hubieras seguido en las artes plásticas, aunque es un camino duro de seguir. Yo mismo pasé por eso, no es nada fácil entrar en una escuela de artes plásticas, y no por falta de talento. A veces uno se frustra, pero lo que no está para uno pues nada, se sigue con la vida.
