Life...on the refrigerator

in Reflections3 months ago

This weekend has been balanced between things that had to be done and those I wanted to do. I don't mind doing the former as I get a nice feeling from accomplishing what I set out to achieve although the latter things, those I wanted to do, were the most enjoyable.

I earned my enjoyable Sunday through hard work on Saturday as I spent most of the day, assisted by the amazing human being I get to call my partner, doing housework. It wasn't the usual though, it was one of those once every so often chore-days which involved steaming the rugs on the floor, cleaning and sanitizing sink drains, washing windows and emptying and thoroughly cleaning the refrigerator among other things.

I took this image

As I was doing the refrigerator I paused to consider what's on the doors. They're plastered with photographs from our lives, people we know, moments we've experienced and the good memories they've left us with.

Our lives are on the refrigerator doors and while that may seem an odd place for those photographs it's a location that allows us to see them every day and that's heartwarming, a beautiful reminder of life. I've found myself looking through them at times, standing there falling back into the feelings of those moments and feeling gratitude that I've had them, and have them still; it was nice to reminisce as I cleaned the refrigerator, it made the job less onerous.

I mentioned it to my partner, commented about the life we've had, the births, deaths, weddings, travels, family, our own moments all stuck on the fridge...He, in typical style, said he had some music for just this occasion by one of his favorite artists and below is the track he played. Perfect.

A hug, Becca.

A productive weekend!

It was quite productive, although not long enough.

We've got some things happening here, not nice things, involving my man and he's been a little stressed, concerned and preoccupied with those things and then his work which is also very demanding...so a nice and productive weekend was what we needed. I'm also concerned of course and worried.

Becca, I hope you are well. I wish that things find a less difficult path to resolution and that this weekend will be longer and you can relax together.

A hug!

I'd like to find that path also Nani, however it's not always possible, or isn't possible to stay on it consistently. We try though.

I hope you have been having a nice weekend.

I think the refrigerator is a good place to put very memorable pictures because you see it often. We have country magnets of places we've been to. We also have a digital photo frame in the dining area that has a lot of our old pictures. We update it from time to time with newer pictures.

Reminiscing about the good times is always nice, and it makes looking forward to even better memories exciting.

We have several magnets from countries we have visited on there also, a few images from our travels too, such great memories to see every time I go to the refrigerator.

I agree that remembering and feeling the emotions of those good times helps us live better in the moment and to create more.

I love how you described that moment. The way you had a pleasant break motivated by memories, and right in front of the refrigerator, how wonderful... I'm glad that you also have someone to spend the weekend with and that you are happy, even if it is cleaning your love nest, those moments are worth gold. Happy to read you Becca! ✌️

Hello there, thanks so much for coming by and taking a read of my post, I appreciate it.

We live so many moments in life, not all special or amazing, but they all make up our lives and I think it's nice to remember them; I'm also very lucky to have such a special person in my life to share them with.

Have a nice Sunday.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend @becca-mac. We keep childhood photos of our boys, now young men, on the fridge. Like you, we often find ourselves stopping to enjoy a memory the photos bring back. Enjoy the music moment with your man.

Hello Joe, thanks for coming by.

It's been a nice weekend so far with still a little to go before thoughts need to turn towards Monday.

I really love having all those memories on the refrigerator, I see them every day and it makes me so happy as I assume it does for you. As I get older I find those moments become more and more valued, do you feel that way? Of course, creating new ones is also important.

Becca 🌷

Best wishes for the rest of your week.

Yes, I do feel those moments are more valued, especially the older the boys get.

Again, have a great week.

The song is perfect for that moment in the refrigerator! The moments of life in photographs make us go back to that instant when they were taken and relive them.
I brought a few photographs with me from Argentina, I couldn't bring them all but I have the important ones and when I look at them I get a smile.... my maternal grandparents, my best friend, my big garden with the numerous fruit trees, flowers and lots of greenery. Pictures of my cats that I had before and some special ones with my family.

Right now when I think of them, I smile.

Thank you Becca.❤️

Keeping memories like those you brought from Argentina alive and closer to your heart through photos is something I believe to be very important. Remembering the good times, happy moments and loved ones who we value so greatly helps us to be more connected to them and I think also our lives in general.

I hope you have a good Sunday.

Those few pictures are a treasure for me, the rest are in Argentina, my friend takes care of them and one day I will bring them back!

Thanks Becca.❤️
