I'm up late tonight watching the last F1 race of the year, almost 1am here...Looks like I'll only get three hours sleep prior to work Monday...an interesting race but not going the way I'd like it. Oh well, that's how it goes I guess. A new year next year, new cars and regulations...maybe an Australian world champion in 2026.

Ah ok. We barely get any coverage (for free) of US sports, let alone college. I wish they'd put on even a random game a week of basketball, football and baseball.
Boring? We get that televised here, saw some of the games but never ended up watching any completely through.
Just two teams that I am not huge fans of. I'm glad that Indiana won though.

I was only talking about painting over this weekend, I'll have some to do in the future...but not just yet. I don't mind it, the cleaning up part sucks though. (And I hate cutting in the edges around the cornices.)
Yeah, this was skirting and it was all edges and faff. Oh and loads of furniture moving too. Still, I got to be locked away for an avo so was relatively happy 😃😃

I also sometimes stay up late watching various sports but if it is not to my liking or my favourite player is not playing well then I get bored and I end up watching movies even though it is not at midnight. Because I prefer sleeping to watching them. Anyway, it would be good if Australia gets one as the world champion.
I used to watch a lot of sports as a kid, but barely watch any now. This is the first year watching F1
I'm more of a football fan and have limited knowledge on F1, but how does it work, is it the car company that gives dominance in f1 or is it the ability of the driver?
both really. the better the car, the better the driver they can get normally. The car plays a big part, but when the times are separated by thousandths if seconds, the driver is very, very important.

I think that adhesive tape is awesome. Not long ago I was drilling the holes in the walls like a true caveman. After that I was advised about adhesive tape. So far it is a complete game changer.
It is, it's one of those little secrets that you pick up as you get older and suddenly everything becomes easier!

i am lucky, it is early morning here in Aus, and i snuck out of bed quietly didnt wake the children and i am on my 3rd coffee and painting ART painting :-) Just ordered my own christmas pressie... Paint... of course... have no idea what to get the kids...
That sounds like an amazing morning! I had a similar one. Lily was with her mom, as we're flying to Germany today, and they wanted to spend more time together. My girlfriend stayed at her place, so I had the whole morning for myself. So relaxing. Just watching series and drinking coffee in bed.
ive never managed the concept of breakfast or even coffee in bed. im a open eyes.. therefore must jump straight outta bed person. i simply can't stay in there and have coffee!! lol... however, Germany, i loved Germany. Been a couple of times. what part of Germany you going to?
Way up north, almost Denmark. I usually can't stay in bed, either, but today was different after a lot of stress the weeks before...

Nowhere are the worst for noise and general disturbance!
Alas, there was no blood of vanquished foes. Just walls and skirting boards but it was fairly relaxing because the kids were out whilst I did it and I could just get on with it and think zen thoughts!

i got discracted as i got an email this morning from my OLD employer... saying I OWE THEM $3,500 in overpayments 2 weeks before xmas. Im pissy and just spend an hour writing an email to tell them when they can shove their email....
(i left my work due to injury and am currently permanently injured and not working) so they can F off...

Every year I tell myself I will be smart and buy presents throughout the year as I find sales on things people want so that when the big day arrives, I'll be relaxed and fully prepared. But every year we get closer and closer to Santa day and I suddenly realize haven't bought anything yet. This year included.

Yeah, it's brutal. You find the perfect thing and the delivery date is delivery between the 6th and 18th of January and you feel like just giving up

I think I haven't spent that much on gifts in 15 years. Which means ever, as I didn't have much to spend back then.
But coming home for Christmas, to the family, that means bringing a load of folkloric stuff, thing that are endemic to Ecuador (for good reason!). But they're at least cheap. Same stuff is probably 10x in Germany. So they'll all think I spent a fortune.
What kind of things are traditional there?
Glühwein. 🤪 6th of December is St. Nikolaus, everyone puts cleaned shoed on the stairs and the next day they're filled with sweets, walnuts, tangerines and stuff like that.
Every Sunday, we light another candle, up to 4. Advents. Then there's the advent calendar, which @meesterboom was so happy about.
We have the tree, the ornaments, the little Crip with figures, and on the 24th the kids of the village used to do the Christmas play in church - but I think that died out maybe in the city.
That's about it.

We have a family Christmas (wife's) and a secret santa deal for the adults. Only one present each! I got my FiL again, so it is just a question of "which book" as that is all he ever wants and gets.
One present each is quite handy.
I used to have to get my FIL a book each Christmas. I was glad as it was quite easy!

For all the Americans (and American football fans) out there enjoying Sunday Funday, Week 14 of the NFL season is typically the last week of the fantasy football regular season before a cut to a single-elimination playoffs.
How are your teams fairing this season?

I wasn't very confident in either of my two fantasy drafts, but my teams have been rallying all season long and are in a good position to fight for a bye in the quarterfinals next week. Much credit is due to drafting the suspended Rashee Rice and being patient for the WR1 option to come back in Week 9. He's been well worth the wait and certainly my team MVP for the 2nd half of the season.
Here's my squad in my premium FF league with a bunch of my college buddies, a 3 keeper (on 3 year contracts), 12 team competion celebrating its 20th anniversary season. I started 3-4 and have won 8 straight matchups!
Here's my squad in the @splinterbowl FF league run by @bravetofu with a bunch of Splinterlands personalities and long-time battlemages. Again, nothing spectacular, but we've been grinding out wins with rookie RBs.

It is an interesting question to consider. When I played paper magic live in premium tournaments, I would be more focused than online, where I have so many distractions at home. Too many flees with many tabs open!
The one caveat is if I would get a feature match streamed on camera for Twitch at these magic tournaments. Those matches always felt a little more pressure-packed with an audience watching live as well as hundreds streaming at home. Sadly, I lost all four of my feature matches over the years in some pretty unfortunate circumstances. The streams typically come up on my 2nd page of Google results.

I do think that Europe needs to do more. But I also believe that Europe should make more of our own weapons and buy less from US.

If that's the key points, am comfortable with the outcome. Yes, Europe should shoulder more of the burden, and it's good that US commits to the NATO agreements. We'll see where that goes from here.
I'm more worried about Ukraine/Russia. Not my favorite negotiation strategy by Trump until now, as I don't think that a peace Agreement under the current terms will deter Putin from attacking again.

Audiobooks are great for flights, less strain on the eye and mind, plus you can drift off listening, unlike paperbacks which wakes ypu with a clatter the moment you drift......

Not necessary. I sometimes give her a pill against car sickness, which as side effect makes her very sleepy. But not today. We're on board of the first flight.

I am still optimistic that sooner or later Hive will reach at least 3 or 5 dollars. But I have nothing to support this claim other than hope. Which is the weakest possible argument.
However, I also pray from the bottom of my heart and am hopeful that the price of $Hive will exceed $3 in the future. But I cannot be sure when that future will come.

$Hive rose above $3 in the last bull market. But the current scenario is completely different and as there are many resistances above, going above all by $1 would mean a 10x increase from the current price. But it is also true that anything is possible in crypto.
I hope it goes back there... i admit i probably bought a little at the highs we had a few years ago.... however i stocked up last week... so feeling good. I love hive... part of me WANTS it more mainstream and yet... also... part of me knows that the more the price rises, the more rif raff we might get... along with hopefully more quality.. tradeoffs.....going to be a while before it hits $1

Yes, that's obvious. And it's not because Hive is bad; for me personally, it's better than all other social networks. But for the mass user, Hive is currently unappealing. Why?
Because the idea of decentralization has not become appealing to a lot of social media users. Plus there's no big name behind hive yet...
And also because Hive is visited by individuals, not groups of people from the same city, college, university, fans of the same team, etc. And these individuals don’t find their audience here (in 99% of cases).

Sorry, but I think that will be a fake fight. Anthony is flawed, but a real boxer. Jake is not a real boxer, it will be arranged so that Anthony doesn't knock out the pretender in first three rounds.
