Palancia River Delta: Trails in the Reedbed

in Amazing Nature3 months ago (edited)

Hello everyone!

Nature inspires us and makes us feel good, sometimes we don't have to go far to enjoy it, and here near the Mediterranean Sea we discover a quiet place where we can walk trails and almost immerse ourselves in the vegetation, where supposedly a river passes...

Well, you can't see the river if you don't know it, since it practically goes under the surface, but we can walk on that delta of the Palancia River in the Spanish province of Valencia, and enjoy a walk in a reed bed of native Mediterranean vegetation just a few minutes and steps away from two coastal towns.

And this time we don't see the sea, this time the environment is different despite we are very close, this time we begin by enjoying not only the vegetation but also the rays of the sun that sometimes filter through the numerous reeds that form walls on the sides of the path. Natural dirt paths that we travel without really knowing what we will find, we just keep looking everywhere, until we notice different trees, bushes and even leaves.

Some of those leaves may seem familiar to us but it is not what you think, it is castor bean or ricino, in Spanish, ("ricinus comunis", according to the PlantNet app), but its shape and large size are curious and it is seen that in areas near the sea it is normal to find a profusion of said giant castor bean bushes, even if we get closer we see some little balls, I imagine that is where the famous oil is extracted from.

We continue walking on a bed of small stones and looking at the trees in the background, while we follow the marked path, now under the leafy crowns of some of those trees and with the sun above that always illuminates us.

Afterwards the terrain opens up again, the path is clearer but we continue covered by countless reeds, at some moments it almost seems that a tunnel is formed that we cross, and from time to time there is a tree, and we feel that we have gotten lost in the nature, a feeling of peace and disconnecting from everything.

But there are signs of life, of people passing by, there are fences built in a rudimentary way where they will have crops and also animals, paradoxically, in a river bed there is life, a lot of life but without the river water.

Then there are moments in which when looking around we can see a little further and we continue seeing reeds, an immense reed field that is sometimes now interspersed with some trees and palm trees, which could not be missing in these Mediterranean areas.

And behind the last palm trees we can already see more civilization, some buildings and some roads, from which even a car appears, it must belong to someone who has some land there that they have fenced off. While we step on the broken reeds on the road.

When we go out onto a paved road, we realize that we are still immersed in the amazing nature, because the reeds continue, the trees, bushes and plants continue, and also that resplendent sun that accompanies us. So among much green and golden coastal vegetation, we continue the road, enjoying the weather, the moment, the landscape, nature and life.

I like that kind of nature trails that you go into without knowing very well what you are going to find, hehe.
You did a nice walk!
By the way, I didn't know what the leaves of the castor bean bush looked like, so thank you for that;)
Abrazos!

Yes it's cool walking through those trails specially when you did not do that before many times, all is new and you seem lost, a great feeling jajaja and even later after some walks more you have still that feeling.
Thanks a lot dear, and we learnt about that castor been leaves, I had to do some research because I wanted to know which plant was that.
Más abrazos y feliz día! 🤗

the quiet natural scenery with shady trees makes the place very comfortable to visit, the leaves you photographed seem familiar, but with the explanation I just found out there are other types of leaves that are not those familiar leaves, very good post, bro

Thanks! Indeed a very comfortable place and not much people around, so it's great for walking in a relaxed way. About the leave, yes, familiar jaja I was wondering if there was there in the location a plantation of something like that but I did the research through the app for knowing plants name and we all have learnt something new 😉

Without a doubt, nature is a source of inspiration, where one can relax and connect with our creative side, also use it to regenerate our emotions.
I love walking along natural trails where at every step, or at every intersection, you find yourself alone with nature, I would spend hours walking in a place like this
I appreciate that you let us know about this natural visit experience
Have a splendid afternoon dear friend @duvinca

Yes, totally agree @jlufer, nature is inspiring and we can feel relaxed when we enjoy there.... and it is a calm place near the town but at the same time no people there, so somehow we feel lost there just watching how beautiful is all around us.
I'm very happy you like the place too, I'll be back, actually in the past I shared other way of those many trails there, sure more someday.
Thanks a lot for your nice comment and have a great new day my friend!
