Today's Quarantine photos

in WE ARE MOVING6 years ago (edited)

Finding things to take photos of is a bit of a challenge when you are stuck at home!
Here are a couple from around my yard.

Violets are blooming.

They have spread everywhere and I have more Violets in the lawn than I do blades of grass!

Mayapples are popping up everywhere.

They grew here before my house was built and I am glad that they are thriving in my landscape plantings and all along the edges of the woods.

And this is Pink. So called because of the color of her tail.
She is very tame and counts my daughter as her best friend.

All the other Squirrels have normal grey colored tails.

Nice and green and beautiful flowers! How much longer for
your state? They let us lose last Friday, quite a few
people out Sunday, even seen the nursery open.
Wow what a cool squirrel with the fancy tail!
And those Mayapples are so cute all there little heads
and shadows! :-)

We are supposed to do the Safe at Home thing through Memorial Day. The numbers here are still climbing because there are so many people protesting and not following the plan. I just saw that a guard at our county jail tested positive
We are finally getting daytime temps in the 60s and it has been staying above freezing at night. All the rain we are getting is helping everything turn green, finally.
Those Mayapples always look like they should have an elf or a fairy sitting under them!
Pink is rather fancy!

That's all beautiful and awesome. Great pictures of nature.

Thanks! It's been difficult these days finding anything new to take pictures of!

Hi @melinda010100, you have received a small bonus upvote from MAXUV.

Thanks so much! 😘

Always love your stuff, you must have a great camera.
Although @thebigsweed is always trying to get rid of the squirrels and chipmunks because they steal the bird food, I kinda like the entertainment of watching them "steal" the food.
I think they are cute.

I have an older camera that I have never really figured out how to use, so I'm just glad it does OK set on automatic!
The critters don't get into my bird feeder. I have a baffel on the pole and it is 10 feet from anything that they could jump from. I do have trouble keeping baby raccoons out when they are young and agile, but they soon grow fat and are not able to maneuver around the baffel. My daughter probably handfeeds more seed and peanuts to the squirrels and chipmunks than I give to the birds, though. I keep threatening to cut off her Wild Birds Unlimited budget!

oh now that's a thought, put some mesh up to keep those buggers out.

Here is mine... I have never had a squirrel or chipmunk get into it.

Great! going to get @thebigsweed on it tomorrow , thanks friend.
Nature is truly amazing.

My cylinder feeder is accessible to Squirrels, but I buy the hot pepper flavor seed. The birds don't taste the pepper, but the Squirrels won't touch it.

It's good to exercise ones body.

Beautiful colour of nature. Nice photography too.
Do like these healthy activities staying at home.

It's great that you have so many violets. They are so beautiful ... All these days of quarantine have served me to sow many beautiful portulacas of many colors 😍

Beautiful pictures dear❤ I love the little chipmunk😍

Thanks, luv! Technically it is a squirrel... quite different from a chipmunk. Chipmunks are small and live in holes in the ground and Squirrels are much larger and live in the tree tops! Both are rodents, though. 😉

Thanks, I didn't know what the difference was and now I know!

More than you needed to know, probably! 😂

What beautiful flowers friend, it is great to see that there is so much green near your house!

It is beginning to get green! Finally! Some of the trees have tiny new baby leaves.

lovely and beautiful picture you have over there i must say

Thanks so much!

Hurray for the violets !

I don't know the Mayapples, so I did a research and here is what I found :

an American herbaceous plant of the barberry family with large, deeply divided leaves. The plant, which bears a yellow, egg-shaped edible fruit in May, has long been used medicinally.

do you eat their fruits, as I see they are edible..?

Pink squirrel is probably wondering where is her friend-your-daughter ...😄

Pink is often disappointed when she runs up to me before realizing that I am not Alli.

I have read conflicting info about eating Mayapples, so I never have. The single white flower they get is gorgeous, but is hidden on the stem under the leaves and you have to go looking for it.

I would have behave like you if I was unsure of the edibility...LoL...I barely pick mushrooms by fear it is not a good one, so in doubt I prefer it to stay in place because I don't like to tear the flora from its soil when it's not necessary 😉

Finally .... spring has sprung.

My wife makes glass jewelry with the flowers in our garden as inspiration ...

I’m trying to encourage her to come back to share her work on Hive .... could I get some help ?

Finding things to take photos of is a bit of a challenge when you are stuck at home!

You can say that again! What a drag... 😏
So cool that you have squirrels on your backyward. I think there are no squirrels in my country. At least, I never saw a single one. 😁

I have plenty of wildlife passing through and these days I an grateful for all the critters! They are my only visitors!

Lucky you. I only have ratdogs in my neighbourhood... and they are so annoying - barking at least 18h a day - that my head hurts. 🤯

Sounds like it is at my daughter's house! My noisest visitors are coyotes and the occasional owl. Lots of deer, Squirrels, chipmunks and wild turkeys, but they are all pretty silent.

Beautiful pictures😍

Thank you!

You are welcome💕

I sort of wish I had a tame squirrel at the moment. The guy I rent from caught one in a live trap and "relocated" it. Do squirrels like walnuts? It would be fun to give her one and see what she did with it. A whole one, still in its shell.

They love them! At Christmas time as I always buy bags of 'crackin' nuts' to have in a bowl just for the memories that my kids have with their great grandfather helping them crack nuts when they were small. After the holidays they get offered to the squirrels and they all promptly disappear!
