I don't know about you, but my Hive and Steem wallets seem to be up, even with ZERO posts from my personal account. Now that is a win. Movement in the crypto markets means old friends are getting back into the blogging game. @SENTSLESS is even posting again! :) I also received a discord message from @strenue. He was a member BEFORE I joined our group. He has been off the blockchain for maybe two/three years. With @summertooth's help we (he) found @strenue's original membership approval (made by @silverstackeruk and PHELIMINT) and we have welcomed @strenue back into our blockchain stacking crew.
Administrative "Stuff"
For those who have returned things have changed! I mean look, we are here on Hive verses Steem. So here is a little simplified history and update on the current state of things.
A bit over a year ago, a fellow named Justin Sun bought Steem from Ned. Everyone got mad. There was a revolt and Hive hardforked out of Steem in March 2020. When that happened calling our group "Steem Silver Gold" (aka ssg) seemed weird, so we rebranded to "Silver Gold Stackers" (aka sgs). Our group exists on both platforms, but is maintained from Hive.
The official SGS member list is maintained on this @myprecious account by me (@dfinney). This account was created by our group witness @guiltyparties.
Group mods are myself @dfinney and @raybrockman. Neither of us is as active as in the old days. So who knows, our roles might shift to others down the track. At the moment it is our responsibility to approve (or not approve) nominations to the community. I update the member list on the @myprecious account and within our group discord. I also add and remove members from the @myprecious autovote list and add/remove members from the community page on Hive.
@vgholdingsllc posts a membership nomination post most weeks. This is the post where we nominate and second new stackers into the community. @welshstacker and @buggedout maintain the community upvote service via the @ssgcommunity account which exists on Hive and Steem.
Late 2020, following a community proposal by @buggedout, there was a vote to change how the @ssg-community account supports our stacking crew on Hive. This vote brought two changes.
- First off, @ssg-community only upvotes the posts of DELEGATING MEMBERS who post about precious metals using the tag #silvergoldstackers. You have to use the tag and your posts need to be about precious metals. As an interest in PM's is the cornerstone of our group's very existence, this requirement isn't unfounded.
- The second change was the introduction of vote accural. Now if you don't post about metals every day, you have the opportunity to accrue a larger upvote. This gives people with less time the ability to still make the most of their delegations to @ssg-community.
These changes meant fancier coding on the back end. @buggedout did the programing and keeps the @ssg-community account up and running on HIVE. Shortly after making these changes, Bugged and @welshstacker also introduced a new community incentive called Precioius Gems. Read about it HERE. The short story - When a delegating member writes a PM post, they earn one precious gem. These gems (that you may only have one of at a time) earn you the capability to receive a community vote on your next non-PM article.
You can find posts by community members or about silver/gold stacking via our community page. We also use the tag #silvergoldstackers for precious metals post and the tag #sgslife on non metals posts. This last tag is useful if you enjoy seeing member posts about all of our non-metals interests. Use that tag (if you would like) when sharing family stories, hikes, movies, cooking, gardening, games, etc., etc., etc.
Becoming a Member
As you can see, this graphic STILL needs to be updated. However, the path to membership on Hive remains the same as on Steem.
- Post about and be interested in collecting precious metals (silver/gold).
- Comment on pm posts made by other Hive users
- Find current members via our tags, our community page and our discord. Get to know us and we will get to know you.
- Get nominated to the community by a current member.
- Receive a second from another community member.
- Membership nominations are reviewed and either approved or denied by the community mods. (Current mods are @dfinney and @raybrockman.)
- Reap the rewards of community support and friendship.
PS - If you were once a member and do not see your name on our member list, you were likely taken off of the rolls due to lack of posts or comments in 6 or MORE months. If you have returned, please let us know. We are happy to have you back.
As, I already mentioned, @strenue is back on our list after his extended absence. From his previous posts, he may know some of the really OLD school members who are still around. For the rest of us, please take a moment to say hello to our new old member. :) (Also, it looks like he is an Aussie, so there are plenty of Perth Mint coins in his posts.)
We also have three brand new members joining the community. Please welcome @cryptictruth, @juanmiguelsalas and @lionsuit. Each have been sharing fun coins from their collections and they all blog on the regular about tons of interesting topics. I see beer, NFTs, Star Wars and photography to name a few.

The Silver Gold Stackers community is still committed to providing support to our members through the @ssg-community account. This account is run on both Hive and Steem. If you have questions about delegating, subscriptions via liquid hive or steem or have "missed a vote", please reach out directly to @buggedout or @welshstacker on discord. Again @ssg-community is available to support only the delegating members of #silvergoldstackers.

As a community it feels like we are starting to build some momentum again, which is great to see!
PS - It might be worth pointing out that the @ssg-community account is run by myself on HIVE and @welshstacker on STEEM so members should direct enquiries to us dependant on which platform they are using. Also, its not entirely true that the account only upvotes delegating members. We have had excess voting power on HIVE which I've been using to manually curate the tag - by rewarding positive engagement (comments) and giving small upvotes to the metals related posts of newcomers.

I would like to say that it is so good to back in this community, I did not realise just how much I missed it. Life got busy, had other projects to focus on, but in hindsight I should have kept committed to this pastime as it is such a great creative outlet and awesome way to connect with people.
