OK, that was easy to find, thank you very much. We call it a cylinder mower. It's a very interesting piece of kit and doesn't need any fancy bits like petrol or electricity.
Is it easy to drive, or do I need a lot of muscle power? !LOL

Depends on how high the grass is... 🤣 If it's really high, you need a lot of muscle, even if you put the height of the blades to max. But if you keep it low and mow regularly, it's easy. I did another round yesterday, and it took me only 10min, not even breaking sweat.
For the rough stuff, I have a cordless lawn trimmer... that could do the preliminary work, and with the cylinder mower, I could always keep it nice and short. Sounds like a plan, what do you think?

That's a good combo. I wished I had a motor machine when I was cutting that lawn... it was so high... But I made it through, took me two hours and several cycles. Now I'm very focused on not letting it grow again.
And yes, it's very old school. My mom had one back in Germany, not sure if it's still there. But I loved to play with it as a child. Not to mow the whole lawn, that was a job for a motor machine (actually, we had an electric one with a chord - what a hassle!), but to mow little tracks into the grass and then use them for biking or games.
Hence, when Mr. K brought in that thing, I was flooded with nostalgia and wanted to do all by myself 😅

Yes, mowing the lawn can be very tiring, which is why a trimmer is great, but it's also heavy and you have to set it to exactly the right height. It would be great if you could just trim the grass with a hand mower.
I'll have a look at second-hand shops to see if they have something like that.

I think the mower has some self-propelling mechanism inside. As soon as you get it going, it's quite easy to go on.
