A New Spot At Loch Raven and A Little Surprise Greeting!

in GEMS3 years ago

This was another unexpected stop after my husband and I dropped our son off at a friends house. Of course, it is a mostly familiar spot but it is on our way back home and so I'm always happy to make a quick stop and have a look around! However, this time (like a time or two before) we decided to venture down some trails that we hadn't been on yet. There are quite a few trails around Loch Raven but some of these are just too difficult for me now but I will go as far as I can until I get to a spot that is too difficult for me. I'm getting better at recognizing that some parts of the trails are just too much for me due to some health reasons. Mind you, I'm pretty good at descending some of those steep inclines but it's the getting back up that poses a bit more of a problem for me.

We've seen this trail many times. It is right by the water but it always seemed a little overgrown. This time was no different but we ventured forward anyway and am I so glad that we did! There were spots that we had to duck down or walk sideways but it was totally worth it and it didn't have any areas that were difficult. Better yet, it offered even more water views and I even found some impressive rocks and boulders which is what I'll be sharing with you today. There were several areas both in and out of the water but I will only be sharing one spot in particular with you today. Gotta' save some for later you know! 😉

This is the spot by the water that I'll be showing some of those rocks and boulders at and we even had a little surprise visitor show up but you'll have to stay to the end of my post to see who and, don't worry, I'll try to keep this a short post!

I found some terrific rock and boulder formations along this trail but the main formation that I'm showing today is this one right by the water. It not only caught my attention because it is a nice big specimen but I found the small hole in it to be interesting.

Not only did I notice the little hole but it also looks like the letter "A" and a frog are carved into the rock! Maybe you see it but it's okay if you don't and I'm sure it was just Mother Nature that carved those markings or perceived markings out in the rock!

At this point I turned around to get a photo of some very nice large rocks on the trail.

The main rock in the photo looks like a nice sitting rock. It looks like an ancient rock from the times of Giants. I mean, just look at those butt prints left in it! Lol ... sorry, I just couldn't help myself but (come on) you have to see it?! And now, you can't un-see it! You're welcome! 😂

I also tried to get a photo to show some of the rocks and boulders under the water right in front of the big rock with the hole in it.

I decided to try to get a closer look at that hole in the rock before moving on when I noticed we had this little visitor show up!

Let me zoom in a little in case you can't see him (or her)! He just flew in and landed right where I was taking the photo!

I think the little Cicada just wanted to stop by and say hello! It even looks like he is smiling for the camera so I felt obliged to take his photo and pass it along to you!

Oh! ... and about that greeting! I felt obliged to help him out there too!

Now, I bet you're glad that I decided to venture along that slightly overgrown trail as well! With that, I'll leave you with these last two edits that I did as well! I mean, I think that little visitor would want me to! 😁

Thanks for the awesome badge @hivebuzz!! 💕

My goodness what a beautiful post of this very
magical place ❤ @deerjay! Wow this river has so many
surprises and secret spots. I would love to go on a walk
there with for real! Those holes in the boulders are so
intriguing and whats hiding inside!I I love the sign
you put on them! lol

It does look like letters or numbers around the hole
894? is what it kinda looks like to me.
The little Cicada surely landed to get their photo
take, how cool is that! :-)
I really enjoy seeing your awesome rocks, river
and critters!

Love the ripple and sparkles! Oh and the giants
boulder seat looks well used, just look at those
butt prints! I wonder when you might see the giant!?

Thank you very much @shasta!! Sometimes I imagine the stories they would/could tell if they could..lol.
I thought I saw numbers also and love looking at different things and seeing what I can find in them.
That Cicada had perfect timing and, oh my goodness, they have come out in droves here.
I think the giants are long gone or they wait till a nice moonlit night to sit on the rocks and gaze over the water and look up at the stars. 😊💕

It is so pleasant to be out and about in nature enjoying it all and taking photographs to keep and share. Thank you for sharing.

You're most welcome @angiemitchell and thank you so much also!! It is great for the Soul that is for sure! 🙂💕

Beautiful refreshing nature photos always makes me feel alive looking at your river or lake photos and you found yourself a new friend the cute Cicada they normally are pretty friendly I had one land on my coffee table the other day while having a coffee...lol 🤣

Thanks so much @kohsamui99!! We had a cold and rain spell for a couple of days here which put the Cicadas in a kind of slumber (some didn't make it also) but they have come out in droves now. Lol..that is too funny! I'm glad it was only one though. 🤨😁

They are a funny creature it's almost like they love human company this one that landed on my table I was stroking it's back like a cat it was making these purring sounds and when I stopped it would come closer for more strokes so funny 🤣

That is so funny and you would laugh at me as just yesterday I "petted" one on the Hosta plant in my front garden. I think it means that we are compassionate people..maybe a little silly too. 🤨😁
There are so many in the other parts of the yard that I haven't been spending too much time outside. Next week I may be going to the ocean where there are no Cicadas or very very few so if you don't see me then that is why. I hope the little red-eyed winged things are still around when I get back though. 🙂💕

Nothing wrong with that people talk to plants my wife does some times if she keeps doing it I may have to admit her to a psycho ward ...no only kidding plants love a bit of loving and talking to and they give you back great vibes 😜😊

Hope you enjoyed the ocean will check your post to see this lovely ocean if you made it there.

You know...I know several people in my own family that talk to plants..lol. I even do occasionally as well but more so with the animals. I'm back and happy to see my pet family again. My visit was kinda meh so I didn't get out as much as I would've liked but it is what it is till next time. 😏💕

Oh that's a shame that visit was a bit of a meh, I was looking forward to some nice sunset photos from the ocean 🌞
