Here is a user complaining about the downvotes he got, in a very serious way. He has a community and many friends who back him up. He has some knowledge on blockchain programming too. So not only complaining in a post, he is also sending a series of comments to many accounts' posts informing about the downvotes. He is doing his own campaign against the downvotes . And all is being done in automated manner. Even, he plans to sue the whale who downvoted him.
The fact is not only him, but some people that I know also got downvoted. There may be various reasons, and some of them that I gathered from the post's comments include:
- Wrong tags.
- Wrong community.
- Upvoted by Haejin and friends.
- Disagree with the high reward.
The first two reasons may be understandable, but imho downvote is too harsh for such a minor mistake. For the last two reasons I feel that they're somehow too private and don't constitute a valid reason to downvote.
Therefore, now we may realized that this kind of downvotes create problems in our platform. Because downvoting is punishing, unregulated downvote mechanism is not wise. We have to somehow regulate the downvote behavior in order to retain current users, as well as to welcome new users.
