... Y hablar de las películas y series que vi en el mes.
Debo admitir que estos posts empezaron un poco porque sí. Como que había algo dentro de mí que quería hacerlo sin motivo aparente. Ahora me doy cuenta de que – consiente o inconscientemente, me ha motivado a ver más películas y a entrenar mi ojo crítico.
Y este sí que fue un mes de películas y series. Y de unas que no me gustaron tanto… Todo hay que decirlo.

I have to admit that this posts came out of nowhere. It was something I wanted to do for no apparent reason. Now I realize that - consciously or unconsciously, it has motivated me to watch more movies and train my critical eye.
And this was indeed a month of movies and series. And some that I did not like so much ... Everything must be said.

Perfect Blue (1997)

Odio decirlo pero, esta película me dejó con mucho que desear. Días antes de verla me dijeron No, es muy fuerte… Podría hacerte mal y capaz por mi masoquismo quise verla.
Pero lo cierto es que no me hizo sentir nada.
I hate to say it, but this movie left me with a lot to be desired. Days before seeing it someone told me No, it is very strong… I could make you ill and maybe because of my masochism I wanted to see it.
But the truth is that I did not feel anything.
Cuenta la historia de Mima, una chica que aparentemente es miembro de un grupo de J-Pop. Obligada por sus managers, Mima abandona el grupo para convertirse en actriz. Pero un fan comienza a acosarla y a hacerse pasar por ella a través de una página de internet. La situación escala al punto de hacer que Mima comience a dudar de su salud mental y finalmente, su propia existencia.
Y luego me perdí. Hay una película dentro de la película, asesinatos, hospitales psiquiátricos, violaciones y definitivamente la realidad se quiebra por completo.
It tells the story of Mima, a girl who is apparently a member of a J-Pop group. Forced by her managers, Mima leaves the group to become an actress. But a fan who's obsessed with her begins to harass and impersonate her through a website. The situation escalates to the point that Mima begins to doubt her mental health and ultimately her own existence.
And then I got lost. There is a movie within the movie, murders, psychiatric hospitals, rapes and the reality is definitely shattered completely.
Es una película caótica y creo que no en el buen sentido. Empieza siendo una cosa, termina siendo otra que nada tiene que ver.
A pesar de estar bellamente realizada y de tratar temas importantes como el cyberacoso, la explotación sexual de la figura femenina en la industria del entretenimiento, la violación y la misma existencia... El enredo que envuelve a esta película hace que los mensajes se diluyan. Haciéndola tan estática como indescifrable.
Como que dice mucho sin terminar de decir nada concreto. Y lo que dice al final no se entiende.
It is a chaotic movie and I think not in a good way. It starts being one thing, it ends up being another that has nothing to do with it.
Despite being beautifully made and dealing with important issues such as cyberbullying, sexual exploitation of the female figure in the entertainment industry, rape and the very existence ... The entanglement that surrounds this film makes the messages dissolve. Making it as static as it is indecipherable.
It says a lot without saying anything concrete. And what it says at the end is not understood.
Evil Genius (2018)

Esta es una serie documental acerca de uno de los casos de robo más bizarros de la historia de Estados Unidos.
La cosa va así.
This is a documentary series about one of the most bizarre theft cases in United States history.
It goes like this.
Un día un hombre con un gran aparato de metal en el cuello entra un banco. Le dice a la cajera que tiene una bomba y que debe darle todo el dinero porque de lo contrario, la bomba explotaría. El hombre logra hacer el robo pero la policía lo detiene cerca del lugar. Lamentablemente, esta persona explota frente a todo el mundo.
Y nadie entiende lo que está pasando. ¿Lo secuestraron? ¿Quiénes lo hicieron? ¿Por qué de esa forma?
One day a man with a large metal thing around his neck enters a bank. He tells the cashiers that he has a bomb and that they must give him all the money because otherwise the bomb would explode. The man manages to make the robbery but the police stop him near the scene. Unfortunately, this person explodes in front of everyone.
And nobody understands what is happening. He was kidnapped? Who did it? Why that way?
Lo que pasa es que se pierde en tangentes poco relevantes. Entonces la serie pasa sin mencionar la psicología detrás del plan de robo más retorcido de la historia y, sin hablar nunca de la clara negligencia y falta de tacto que tuvieron la policía y los servicios judiciales que trataron el caso.
Me decepcionó un poco, la verdad. Pero sigue siendo interesante de ver.
What happens is that it is lost in irrelevant tangents. So the series goes by without mentioning the psychology behind the most twisted robbery plan in history and, without ever mentioning the clear negligence and lack of tact that the police and the judicial services that handled the case had.
I was a little disappointed, really. But it is still interesting to watch.
Goddess Remembered (1989)

This documentary invites us to travel and meet again with the history of the different feminine deities that were present in the pre-christian era. It tells us myths and legends and also, how these deities - like many others, were misrepresented and even forgotten over time. It also takes a look on today and how we can redeem the worship of the goddess.
Este es un documental muy pertinente. No porque hable de lo femenino sino porque lo femenino es parte del universo.
No es una película de ni para mujeres como puede parecer. Es una película sobre una parte de la historia de la humanidad. Una que se ha dejado de lado. De la que aún podemos aprender y que – bien o mal, nos ha forjado de alguna manera.
This is a very relevant documentary. Not because it is about the feminine but because the feminine is part of the universe.
It is not a movie to or for women as it may seem. It is a film about a part of the human history. One that has been neglected. From which we can still learn and that - for good or bad, has shaped us in some way.

Comencé a verla nuevamente con mi papá. Esta serie es un encanto. Es divertida, emocionante, ligera y no es para nada superficial.
Durante cuatro temporadas, seguimos las aventuras de Aang en su misión de salvar al mundo. Un universo donde ciertas personas tienen poderes para controlar los elementos. I started seeing it again with my dad. This series is a charm. It's fun, exciting, light, and not superficial at all. For four seasons, we follow Aang's adventures on his mission to save the world. A universe where certain people have powers to control the elements. After a hundred year war between the Fire Nation and the other nations - air, water and earth, Avatar Aang master of the four elements is the only one who can save them.
Y lo interesante es que Aang debe aprender a dominar los elementos a través de la la conciencia, el autocontrol y la m e d i t a c i ó n. ¿No es perfecto?
Cada capítulo guarda enseñanzas sobre estos temas y conforme va a avanzando la serie nos damos cuenta de que lo malo y lo bueno tiene muchos matices.
And the interesting thing is that Aang must learn to master the elements through consciousness, self-control, and measurement. Perfect. ¿Isn't it?
Each chapter has teachings on these topics and as the series progresses we realize that the bad and the good have many shades.

También vi los ciclos 6 y 8 de American Next Top Model – absolutamente icónico. Y varios capítulos de Explained, una serie de netflix producida por Vox.
Dos cosas que están buenas para pasar el rato.
Y bien, estas fueron las series y películas que vi en el mes. Lo que me gustó y lo que no. Lo profundo y lo superficial.

Yo amo, AMO, amo Avatar.
Es una de mis series favoritas en la vida. La vi cuando estaba chiquita y, ajá, me gustaba. Pero cuando la volví a ver ya grande no podía creer cómo había TANTA enseñanza en lo que parece ser -y, a la vez, es- una caricatura infantil.
La meditación, cómo dominar los 7 estados /siete chakras/ para alcanzar el Estado Avatar /el Nirvana/. El dominio de los 4 elementos dentro de nuestro cuerpo y nuestra vida para poder vivir en armonía con lo que somos y con los otros. Es una obra de arte.
Otras caricaturas que puedo recomendar de ese estilo son Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood y The Midnight Gospel.
Ahora, Goddess Remembered es una que me hiciste agregar a la lista y, a cambio, te recomendaré un libro: Las Diosas de Cada Mujer de Jean Shinoda Bolen.
Está bueno echarle un ojo cuando termines Luna Roja. ❤️
Desde que abrí Hive quise escribir sobre los libros que me han ayudado en mi estudio de la Medicina de la Mujer pero nunca he sabido cómo escribirlo. Mientras, los recomiendo.

La del Avatar: La Leyenda de Aang, la vi cuando mi hijo tenía como 6-7 años. Termine comprando todos los CDs porque era muy buena y a veces no tenía tiempo. Luego me agarraba el sábado a las 6:00 a.m. con el café viendo esos episodios. Muy instructiva. Recomendada para todos.

I studied film in University from 2000 to 2007 and must have seen five thousand movies in my life. There have been moments when I was tired of it.
I remember watching Perfect Blue a long time ago. It impressed me but I had forgotten about it. Watched Evil Genius on Netflix and although I kind of enjoyed it, I had already erased it from my memory.
To be honest, I've never really gotten into avatar. Watched some episodes back in my Uni days but I kind of felt too old for it haha. I might like it more these days as I've changed quite a lot as a person.

Hi Vincent! Yesss, I understand what you say. I studied - and I am still studying, cinema too. And I do get tired of movies haha. I was just talking about it with a friend.
It's like we're blessed with a curse haha. It's getting harder and harder to find movies that I really enjoy.
But I try to take it easy. I also know that I haven't seen everything yet.
