LIke the shirt? Yes it is from a certain other blockchain platform, but I am not going to just throw barely worn clothes away and I was only wearing it around the house under a sweater until I decided to do a video.
I have been meaning to do more music videos as well as it being a reason to practice more. I was trying to think of songs that would be fun to drum with and this is one that I played with a band when I was one of two guitarists. This has a nice snare drum section in the middle.
I have not practiced this much, so I am winging it and I messed up the start. I am playing my no-name electronic drum pad fed through a mixer to the audio interface with my phone picking up what comes out of the computer speakers. It is not ideal, but I have had sync issues when I record video with the webcam.
If I am going to take drumming seriously I really ought to get some lessons. I have not really played on a proper kit apart from some brief messing around years ago.
How many drummers do we have on Hive? I know @ashtv likes to play and @heymattsokol just came back.
We shall see if I can also do guitar video this week. I need to find something to play.
Rock on!

Nice man, sounds good! Fun song to drum along to.
I have a little technique advice: If you watch the video and look at your left hand, there is a lot of extra movement. You are moving your left hand away from the drum pad every other beat, then moving it back above the pad right before hitting.
You might try to keep your left hand more steady above the snare pad whenever it's resting. Avoid "dancing" your hands around when they aren't doing anything, it tends to result in shakier beats. Focus on that left hand staying in one place during the beat and it might help you tighten up even more. Either way sounding good my friend, cheers
Thanks for the tip. I'll try to keep an eye on that. I know keeping tight (in the right ways) is important. Need to keep working on it.

I do love smashing the shit out of drums
Nice one on the drum practice!
Sync between different audio devices and cameras is a constant battle (I still haven't got everything in sync even though I'm streaming every week) - I think if it encourages you to practice that's the main thing.
A long time ago I dabbled with drumming - I suspect trying a real kit again (or at least a full size electronic one) would make a big difference to your experience.
Anyway looking forward to some guitar videos from you!

I should experiment more with the webcam. Using the interface for audio definitely had some lag and it's a hassle to fix it. I want to do more playing and less fiddling, so I will use the easy option unless I am aiming for a more professional result.
I may look out for a cheap electronic kit to see how it goes. I'm sure people try it and give up.
I need to find something to work on with the guitar. Plenty of online inspiration out there.

Yeah totally hear you on "more playing and less fiddling" - making music is the main thing!

I haven't played in years. I was never that great anyway. It was more of a marching band sort of thing and less of an actual drum set. This is sounding great. You need to relax a bit more. You can tell you are thinking really hard about what you are trying to do. As you practice it should get easier and then you can have more fun with it.
The only real drumming experience I have is from when I did some African drumming. With any instrument you tend to have to think a lot to start with before it becomes intuitive. I am having fun anyway. I think I could do with the pad a bit lower, but that stand is on its lowest setting. I may invest in a proper drum stand and make a board to go on top.
That sounds like it would be really cool. I know you are likely having a good time. It just shows in your face how much you are thinking about what to do next and concentrating. My niece is the same way when she plays basketball. You can see her out on the court running the play in her head. In time it will become more natural.
I don't have to think so much when I play guitar, but then I have done it for a long time. Have to put in the 10,000 hours :) I seriously doubt I have played that much.
The drum kit looks fun! I wondered if you can hit it really hard like a normal drum?
It can take quite a beating, but hitting harder does not give a louder drum sound and it will not feel like a real one. It was something to try drumming and I have taken it to some jam sessions. It can run off battery and the speakers are fairly loud. Maybe I will get a proper electronic kit some day, but an traditional one would just be too loud.

Ahh so it's not touch sensitive. That makes sense. It's amazing how neat and portable it looks though.
You can roll it up for sticking in a bag plus there are footswitches for high-hat and bass drum. It has some other sounds, but I tend to stick to the default.
