Introduction

Hello Everyone, I hope your day is going well. The last time i wrote here, I shared My Content Creation Process and gave a few tips on how Newbies can get better at content creation. I was amazed at the lovely responses i got from that post, so I have decided to write again.

20220309_195935_0000.png

This time I'm going to focus on explaining an important concept about hive. I'd also focus on some of the questions and replies from my previous write up. I hope it offers some help and understanding too.

Before i begin, I'd like to appreciate the @hive-learners team for supporting the @newbies-hive initiative. I believe this initiative will help alot of newbies get better. As shown above in his quote, @starstrings01, the founder of the newbies initiative has always been about helping others. Onboarding alot of people on hive often comes with great responsibilities. Over the years, he has helped alot of people. He's very passionate about it. I believe the program for the newbies will kick off soon and I'm happy to be a part of it.

An Important Concept About Hive

rehive.png

I think staying, succeeding and enjoying yourself on hive boils down to this concept am about to tell you. I actually got this idea when i was preparing to address some of my hive friends in a physical meet-up few months ago.

The concept involves asking yourself why exactly you are on hive and also why the next user is on hive.
Understanding this concept will help you know if you are growing or not.

Let me explain. Hive is decentralized, community-driven, censorship-resistant platform where you can own your content. It covers alot of social areas like vlogging, gaming, finance, sports, lifestyle, exchanges, media e.t.c. There are alot of decentralized applications built on the Blockchain. Thus, people are on hive for different reasons.

With this in mind you can relate to people better, and you can also give yourself a better approach.

Let's take myself for example.

Why Exactly am i on hive?

IMG_1431.jpeg

Personally, Hive provides alot of opportunities for me. I am on hive to make money, learn from other people and make friends. With this in mind, I know what to focus on. There are alot of investors/accounts on hive who would never make a post. These accounts are solely focus on the business aspects of the Blockchain. They are here to support content creators and also to yield profits via curation.

Being honest to yourself helps you achieve your goals or success. If you're 100% in the system for the rewards, it is totally okay. What that means is that, you have to add a lot of value regularly to keep getting rewarded. For example, if you are a professional musician and you are on hive just for the rewards, All you have to do Is to keep giving quality and you just might get what you came for.

A better approach might be scaling your reasons being on hive in percentage. I'm here for 50% fun, 50% money. Something like that should work i guess.

Anyway, this way you can assess if you are doing it right.

I was recently ill and i wrote a post about it and I got alot of people wishing me well. That alone is success to me. I strive everyday to make friends as that is one way of achieving happiness. I feel fulfilled everytime i write and i get feedback. At that point the Payout doesn't really matter. I once ask myself to choose between a $500 single post Payout or 1000 comments on a post. Up until now, I don't know which would make me more happy. Believe you me, I still have a screenshot of a post i had 500+ comments.

Screenshot_20220309-185112_Chrome.jpg

These is an engagement post. However, because i love engaging, there is a certain joy that comes out from it. Imagining having a post Payout of $200 with zero comment. I wouldn't like it but that doesn't make it bad.

What's my point exactly? The concept is simple, know the reason why you are on the Blockchain and focus on it.

Know the next user too. A perfect example is @mipiano. She's a talented pianist (the name is kindof a giveaway). Anyway, from her posts, you can see a pattern. She loves to engage. Hive to her is more than just earning. She loves to share her passion and she loves to meet new people. With that in mind, you can relate easily with people.

Okay that would be all in that regards. I hope the concept is well understood. Know your reasons and work with it.

I always wonder about creating videos and just chatting about things. Sometimes, I think I will make venting videos. LOL> It would just be fun to get things off your chest without being too personal. I have been busy, so am trying to make sure I get back on more regularly. I also use inshot. I am still trying to figure out how to upload a video on 3speak to put on my post without having to post it to 3speak first. I just want the video in my post. LIttle things like that are things I struggle with, but don't really know where to ask, so then it just falls by the wayside.

As regards to this, There are alot of communities that supports that thoughts or passion of yours, all you have to do is find it. In this case, i can recommend The Rant,Complain And Talk community. In this community, you can talk about things that don't fit in anywhere else. Just like this community, there are alot that supports your passion, you just have to find it.

Concerning How to use @threespeak, I have a video that explains it. You can find it here.

Also, I have a trick i use, just write your post on the Peakd interface, don't publish it first. Just preview and see everything is okay.
Then you go to 3speak, upload your video. Then copy and paste your write up on peakd into the description area on 3speak.
You can insert your tags then push the publish button.
This way, your post will have both the video and the post at once on the Blockchain.

the most important thing is courage, sometimes many people are actually able to make something extraordinary but are ashamed to publish it

I think this is perfect, I believe this too. Everyone has alot to share, but they are ashamed. I believe no one should be. Believe in yourself and also believe in your content. Just like Eddiespino said, no one learnt on their first day!

In Conclusion...

I just hope what I've written down would help someone out there. It is my two cents on growing on hive. Yes, it's not the only approach, however, I think it is one that could help. Thanks for reading, see you next time.

Nice and informative post 📯
Really loving your word's ❣️
I totally agree with many of your word's.
But it's really hard for newcomers to get started, because they don't get good quality support, Many people don't want to read their posts. I know we are new guys can do better day by day. I am grateful to you because you are really thinking of new people like us and guiding us. Stay by our side, our prayers are with you.
Good luck to you ♥️

I really recommend in choosing a community/communities that fits your niche/interest plus engaging. Engaging helps a lot when you are new. Here's another helpful read by @adamada Guide to Hive [1.2]

"When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable"

A lot of people miss this important factor. Understanding and defining Purpose is very important in any endeavour. Without this, we tend to abuse or give up easily.

Awesome content on creative process @samostically and yeah, a big thanks to @hive-learners for supporting the @newbies-hive initiative. I was a part of the last session and I really learnt a lot. It is highly recommended for newbies. Bigs up to @starstrings01 for the initiative.

Much love man😍

Thank you very much. This is a beautiful comment. I appreciate that you like my post.

I could very well relate with what you gracefully dished out here. When I came onto the chain was cos of the monetary part but I was warned that it was never one you would not work for. You'd have to put in work for good quality. I could say at first my percentage was 80% money and 20% for just others, maybe. But now, truthfully speaking @samostically , the % for money has reduced to like 40 while I'd jist love to do my thing and engage other authors - I could rate that at 60%. At times, many days go by without posting at all and I have as much as 20 notifications from just the engagements alone. And now no day goes by without me coming on HIVE 😊

You are getting to love the chain man. It's great to hear this.

We learnt from one of the best, oga @starstrings01 🙇. God bless you.
Why I no go love it, atleast it gives me inspiration.

Well, I'm super certain too. I've seen you engage on posts back to back to back. Sometimes I wish I could be everywhere like you. I'm glad you understand my concept, makes me happy that you read the post. Thanks.

Sometimes I wish I could be everywhere like you.

I am honoured, sire 🙇.

I'm glad you understand my concept, makes me happy that you read the post. Thanks.

Anytime. Actually there is no day I would not check on your blog to either read or comment or both. Although at times, all this deep crypto stuff dey oppress.😂

A better approach might be scaling your reasons being on hive in percentage. I'm here for 50% fun, 50% money. Something like that should work I guess.

I remembered when we had this conversation and I shared my honest view on this matter and you encouraged me to have as much fun on Hive as I can. You encouraged me to keep up with my quality content regardless of the support I got and stated that the support will eventually come as long as I remain consistent.

I took that advice and have since explored different communities on here with the aim of expressing myself, engaging, and having fun while doing both. It has not been easy managing my busy offline work and life schedule with Hive but we somehow make it work.

You did not lie. I am not there yet but we are leaving the trenches slowly but surely (pun intended 😂😂😂😂) and I am super glad I am not where I started. Indeed growth is clear. The process is gradual but success is inevitable!

Also, thank you so much for being a free giver of knowledge. I admire how willing you are to always give from the little you have. It is highly appreciated. And Yes! Your 2cents and more have been helpful to me in my Hive journey. I couldn't be more grateful.

P.S: This is a beautifully written and structured post!
Keep soaring and keep Being a valuable gem on Hive Sam😊😊😊

Okay Bye...😂😂😂

I am short of words. Thank you my friend. Knowing you has been a fun ride too. More importantly, I've learnt alot from you too. I will update this comment later. It can't be this short lol

You're welcome Sam!

I have read all the contents of the writing that you share, there are many things that I can take as additional insight for me, I agree with what is said @shopnilhasan this is something that I experienced myself when I first joined, let alone for people who provide support, people who comment on posts that we have written just don't exist, so it has such a big impact for beginners, in fact many don't continue because no one wants to read even though not all beginners who join have no expertise, it's just that maybe he just found out about this hive, one thing I like about your writing, without us realizing it you taught us to grow together, by interacting with people, and providing support comments so that he is even more enthusiastic in creating content and getting better from day to day. If you can't make a big impact, at least give a little because that's what is expected.

Finally, I apologize if there are words that are not appropriate because I use translate, thank you for sharing this beautiful article

Not knowing your purpose of been on the platform, clearly states that you are not going to learn anything.

Thanks for sharing this amazing content.
No one wants to spend time working in vain, especially when it involves spending money to buy data and not being able to get anything from it.

I'm here on hive to earn, and have fun too, engaging with other readers.

The trick about writing the text on peaks, I recently discovered it too and it's how I published my last video on 3speak.

It's also important that every writer believes in their content, it's easy to get intimidated by the content of others. It is always good when that happens.

Very very helpful, God bless you for this , I personally have been looking for way to keep up,thanks so much

Well written, I have to sit down and ask myself again the reason why I'm on hive. Your post will make a lot of people understand why there here and how to grow their account.

Thanks for making us the newbies to see and know the purpose of hive

Oh my God! You know, I admire the way you always dish out knowledge free of charge with the purpose of seeing others succeed, that's so thoughtful of you and I am not taking this for granted, thank you so much.

Even in a relationship, it needs to be defined otherwise you may have issues with each other along the line so the same applicable to our journey here on hive, our motives for coming here needs to be defined inorder to achieve our set goals.

Once again thanks for this insightful tips!

I love to read your content because you teach a lot. A great teacher you are indeed. Thank you again for another information.... I didn't know about the @newbies-hive initiative. I would love to participate next time.

Thank you for stopping by! I'm glad you found my contents worthy of your time.

I think it is important to have a reason to be on hive, a few months ago, I will say I was on hive for majorly the money not because I didn't love hive but because I was unemployed and hive was my only source of income.

It still is but with time, it has become way more than that.

Also, Sam, you are doing amazing and I enjoyed reading this.

Thank you so much for the mention in this post. Yes, that is true, I love to engage and I do hope many people too! You are showing an excellent example too, with your work around hive and supporting engagement! Let's keep it up @samostically😀

I really enjoy engagement as well, that used to be the selling point for me when I just joined hive, then I became greedy, I started to think making more posts would get me more money. I ended up becoming more disappointed when i didn't get the desired payouts in the posts, so I got really annoyed, got discouraged and almost gave up..

Then one day I was just ravaging through my posts then I saw an old post I did, I read through it and I was surprised, it wasn't the most articulate post you could ever find but then it showed the passion I put into it and most of all it showed fun. I remember @mineopoly 's advice to always have fun when you're on hive and looking back it actually had a way of pushing me , to do more. It's ok to be after the rewards but you'll only strive if you take it little by little, enjoy yourself, meet people, make friends and create connections, you'll be surprised at your own growth.

Thank you for sharing this amazing words with us

I'm glad you understand and find it helpful.
Thanks for your detailed contribution too. It means alot.

Knowing the purpose for being on hive gives one a direction, a path to follow, makes it easier for them to get what they want because hive offers a lot. If you find the purpose for being on hive then you may have just found a source of constant inspiration.

Engagement and making new friends is a great fun in Hive Blockchain.

That's great, man. Keep doing the good work. I think similar. The way you can know if the content move people is by the comments. The comments bring followers that bring us money and relationships, and not the other way around.
