A dead Quiet walk
Been hectic this week with a few things going on, so even though I have got out for a few morning walks, I haven't had time to edit photos or prepare posts.
This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)
Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk,
Actifit
A good App that works well in conjunction with the Wednesday Walk or any day walk is @actifit, which rewards you with Actifit Tokens and Upvotes, if you use the app to track your steps and do a post of your actifit total each day.
If you do a lot of activity I do recommend you check it out
Make me Smile Collaboration
As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng,
Here are the rules for her challenge
Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem, drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.
b. Your content must be ORIGINAL CONTENT
c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post
A dead Quiet walk
In our new house our backyard backs onto a cemetery, and we have had many walks through it, it is so peaceful and quiet, I even joke our neighbors are dead quiet LOL.
so a few shows from one of the walks through the cemetry.

.We have a cemetery near where I live that has an entrance kind of like that. I always like looking at the big fancy mausoleums and the statues that some people put on graves. Like the big ornate obelisk type things. Nice shots from your walk!
I am the same i love seeing both the ornate mausoleums and statues and some of the more simple but aged headstones
'
Nice walk, and very nice photos.
I looked at a house (a cottage, really) that bordered on a cemetery. I loved it, but I couldn't convince my then wife. We bought another place, but that was on a dead end street (appropriately :)) and would have fit my life perfectly. I've never forgotten it...
I know some people have a real phobia about living by a cemetery, we have one friend who when they visit wont go into the backyard because of the cemetery, but it doesn't bother my wife or me
Thank you very much, @tattoodjay
most welcome
hello dear friend @tattoodjay good morning
Some years ago I invested in the purchase of some land in a city in the interior, our land overlooks the side of a cemetery, my wife and son declared that they would never live there. as you say, it is the quietest place to live
What beautiful pictures dear friend, I appreciate that you let us know
Have a wonderful day
I have friends who also would never live near a cemetery luckily for my wife and I it is not a problem we actually like it so close makes for a quiet neigherhood
I transmit that to my family, the tranquility that exists in the place is unique
I appreciate that you let us know these beautiful photographs dear friend @tattoodjay
have a great day
You to have a great day
I think I would love it there: I can see in your photos that it is a very beautiful place, I love the silence and my wife would have many new friends to talk to, which can't run away 🤣

Have a great day
No wild parties, no screaming or shouting, nice place to enjoy is the dead center of town. Graveyard is a bonus, not many will walk around, so often you will be able to drop the mask and enjoy the fresh air to the full.
Good to see you back on track and settling down, now you find more to do than you ever thought possible that keeps one on their toes. Who said going on pension was lazing your days away?
Never enough hours in a day, have a great week and thanks for taking us on this walk today.
Ohh yeah in the cemetery and on early morning Cove walks, we have the mask on but lowered down so we can breathe freely and only put them on properly if we see someone approaching, luckily there both quiet spots at the time we walk there
Ohh yeah I have well Lulu and I have so many things we want to do I swear I am busier now than I was when I was working lOL
I find no time for myself, always on the go.
Unfortunately not the case for my husband who really needs a hobby, other than walking and bowls, neither of which fill your day.
I like to kepe myself busy so I am happy with how its going for me, sitting around wondering what to do would drive me nuts well more nuts than I am now LOL
Looks like a very peaceful place to walk. Close and no traffic to worry about.
That's a really neat looking mausoleum.
That describe sit well and at the times we walk not many people there so we have masks with us, but only put them on if someone is approaching
Nice quiet cemetery walk photography. Here is my entry : https://hive.blog/gems/@kamrunnahar/wednesday-walk-and-make-me-smile-challenge-walking-moment-of-my-pretty-village-paddy-field
I saw you post thanks for sharing the link here :)

thanks for sharing the link :)
It has been awhile, but I have enjoyed walking through graveyards over the years. Every year there is a Stories in Stones at one of the local cemeteries where people dress up as certain people and tell stories about their lives before they died. Usually it is a fun time.
WOw that stories in stone sounds amazing to me i would love to see something like that
It is a lot of fun. We have enjoyed it every time we have gone.
I suspect its a place I would visit many times as well
Those aren't the worst neighbors to have I guess, quite indeed.
Thanks for sharing your #WednesdayWalk.
Yes indeed
I am glad you like your new place. Not my favorite, I am a city girl, I actually love the noise. Hopefully you will still post those amazing shots of NYC, I am sure you have a whole library! I adore your city shots, you are so talented. I prefer Chrysler building vs a grave yard for sure 😊
I am a country boy at heart but yes I have plenty in my archives
That is a beautiful cemetery, great that it is so close that you can take your walks through it!
Love that mausoleum and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in your future post!
I have a #WednesdayWalk post for you where I added my full moon photos in it at:
https://peakd.com/hive-127788/@porters/wednesday-walk-the-moon-is-full-it-bought-butterflies-horses-and-more-birds-flocking
It truly is so well maintained and beautiful, we enjoy our walks there, thanks for sharing the link for your post :)
The cemetery you have there is way more delightful than the ones we have here...
Such a good walk!
Ohh yes there are some nice and well maintained cemetery here :)
I think it's better that way, less scary at night! 😊
yes indeed thats true
I have a fascination with old cemeteries, always wonder about the people that once were part of the community and now at rest. Sadly here in our country, many are not being maintained like they should by the authorities!
My contribution this week, a tad late, Meeting Lord Melbourne.
Thanks for sharing your link, I to have a fascination with cemeterys, I find it tranquil and thought provoking walking through them
It looks that you had a nice walk :)
Ohh I truly did :)
Coool, I LOVE cemeteries, probably as much as you do doors...lol
And you're up there in Ct and I know that there some seriously old cemeteries up there! However one of the best (coolest/creepiest) that I found was in upstate NY just down the road from the summer camp that I was at (Frenchwoods near Hancock).
There was a whole bunch of abandoned houses around the lake which seemed to be fairly old (back in 97), but the cemetery was way beyond that.
Only a few grave sites that I could see and really unkempt.
I'm going to go back there one day. I hope its still there...
Hmmm, Make me smile challenge eh... Challenge accepted! 😁
I find them so relaxing to stroll through, I used to live in Ct now I live in MA but many old cemeteries here as well
I think I visited that one you mention in French woods many years ago and yes it was both cool and creepy
Oh Ma, I'm sure would probably have some slightly older ones than Ct....
So you been over there for awhile now by the sounds of it. Wish I had never left...But I'll be back! 😀
Hey you know what I was thinking about the Wednesday walk...maybe we could incorporate a treasure hunt into it. Everyone submits an idea to hunt, then the community votes on which one it should be for that week, then everyone goes on the hunt for it during their wednesday walk.
Like I said, giving me a door to find gave me purpose not only to get out there but to do something when I got out there and I felt like a little kid, all excited at trying to find you a cool door you know...It would be like a Hive version of that global geo caching game...
I think it was maybe 15 years ago I visited French woods but i remember it well
Thats a great idea for the walk, I am busy this week but will give it some thought for sure :)
Sweet! I look forward to it.
I went for another walk today and now you've got me looking for doors- which is great, because it has made me even more aware of the things around me (and I am always seeing things that most people don't) so it's nice to be more motivated to do so.
And it adds a nice bit of adventure into an otherwise, standard walk along the same route.
I find once you start thinking about photos you notice so much that you never did before
Have a great weekend
Yes so true and thank you! You too! 😊
Cemeteries can be quite interesting walks seeing old the designs of headstone and even more lovely when they are perfectly maintained and it does look dead quiet 😅
Ohh yes indeed i findit so relaxing and thought provoking walking through a cemetery
I love cemeteries, and also find them to be very peaceful places. I think it's great that your house backs up to one. You know no one will ever build in your backyard!
It's funny, because I'm a believer in cremation, myself. I have no intention of buying a burial plot. When you think about it, there's no way we could keep creating more and more cemeteries to bury all the dead throughout time. So it's a model that is not sustainable. I don't cast aspersions on anyone whose beliefs dictate burial, but it's just good that we don't all make that choice!
That said, they are truly beautiful places to visit. I sometimes visit graveyards and read the stones and think about the lives that may have been lived.
Yes thats a big plus knowing no one will ever build behind us keeps the backyard nice and quiet
I to wish to be cremated and would like my ashes dropped into the ocean or a river to flow away, and if people wanted a special spot to come and think about me by any waterway anywhere would work I think
MY wife also wants to be cremated but would love a small plot in this cemetery for us both or a portion of our ashes if we were to go that way
