This wonderful space was inaugurated on April 17, 1972, its name "Jardin botanico Atilio Lombardo", makes reference and honor to a professor who directed this botanical center for more than 30 years, to a great extent his management increased the herbarium and organized all the collections of plants that we can see in this space.
Este maravilloso espacio fue inaugurado el 17 de abril de 1972, su nombre "Jardin botanico Atilio Lombardo", hace referencia y honor a un profesor que dirigió este centro botánico durante mas de 30 años, en gran medida su gestion incremento el herbario y organizo todas las colecciones de plantas que podemos conocer en este espacio.
I visited the garden with my mother-in-law and my fiancé on December 26, summer began recently so it was a sunny and beautiful day, we were able to do the complete tour around the botanical garden but we could not see the museum facilities because it was closed.
At a general view, it has many native species from Uruguay, almost all the plants have a descriptive poster that indicates the botanical family, their common name and the scientific name, it also contains plants from other countries and is organized by their coincidences such as classes, order or family, a clear example is that there is a part of the park that has many varieties of pine trees and others that have many varieties of palm trees.

Visite el jardín junto a mi suegra y mi prometido el día de 26 de Diciembre, hace poco comenzó el verano así que era un dia soleado y bien lindo, pudimos hacer el recorrido completo al rededor del jardín botánico pero no pudimos conocer las instalaciones del museo porque se encontraba cerrado.
A vista general tiene muchas especies autóctonas de Uruguay, casi todas las plantas tiene un cartel descriptivo que te indica la familia botánica, su nombre común y el nombre científico, también contiene plantas de otros países y se encuentra organizadas por sus coincidencias tales como clases , orden o familia, un claro es ejemplo es que hay una parte del parque que hay muchas variedades de pinos y otras que tiene muchas variedades de palmeras.
In the places where the plants are watered and puddles are made in the grasses you can see the birds, bathing and jumping in the water, I did not see many insects as you could imagine in a place like this full of flowers, however some of the fuestes Under the lotus flowers they had good-sized koi fish.
People often gather in this park to enjoy the green areas, bring the children to an amusement park for young children, to do sports or to rest outdoors.
En los lugares donde se riegan las plantas y se hacen charcos en las gramas puedes ver a las aves, bañándose y saltando en el agua, no vi muchos insectos como se podría imaginar en un lugar así lleno de flores, sin embargo algunas de las fuestes, bajo las flores de loto tenían peces koi de un buen tamaño.
La gente suele reunirse en este parque para disfrutar de las areas verdes, traer a los niños a un parque de atracciones para niños pequeños, a hacer deportes o a descansar al aire libre.
However, the main idea of this place was to create a space for the knowledge and study of botany in Uruguay, it hosts more than 400,000 visitors throughout the year, including multiple foreign researchers who visit the herbarium annually.
As a curious fact is its gardening school, created in 1916, this training began with the idea of instructing public officials, and today, it continues to be a reference in public works, some time later in 1986 some courses were opened for anyone who would like to receive training in this area.
Sin embargo la idea principal de este lugar fue generar un espacio, para el conocimiento y estudio de la botánica en Uruguay, alberga mas de 400.000 visitantes en todo el año, entre ellos multiples investigadores extranjeros que visitan el herbario anualmente.
Como dato curioso se encuentra su escuela de jardinería, creada en el año 1916, esta formación comenzó con la idea de instruir a los funcionarios públicos, y hoy en día, sigue siendo referente en obras publicas, tiempo después en 1986 se abrieron algunos cursos para cualquier persona que deseara recibir formación en esta área.
I wish I could have seen the museum (in the 6 photographs above this paragraph, the first one on the left), on the outside the building is covered with plants making a giant shrub in the form of a building, we can also appreciate large varieties of flowers, although according to some people to whom you ask some questions, in the spring time, the park is much more colorful.
I also knew a part that was from fruit trees, there were some fruits that I knew and others that I did not dare to try because they were red, with the consistency of a very small peach.

Ojala hubiera podido conocer el museo (en las 6 fotografías arriba de este párrafo, la primera de la izquierda), por fuera la edificación esta cubierta con plantas haciendo un arbusto gigante en forma de edificio, también podemos apreciar grandes variedades de flores, aunque según algunas personas a quienes les pregunte algunas cosas, en la época de primavera, el parque se encuentra mucho mas colorido.
También conocí una parte que era de arboles frutales, habían algunas frutas que conocía y otras que no me atreví a probar porque eran rojitas, con la consistencia de un durazno muy pequeñito.
Si algún día vienes a Uruguay es un lugar obligatorio por conocer, muy cerca de este jardín en el parque el prado, se encuentra el Rosedal que les estaré mostrando en otra publicación.
