A wonderful day in the Carpathians and a mini-adventure with a happy ending (EN-UA)

Hi friends! It was a wonderful day filled with joy, warmth and activity. I wish there were more such days in my life. Looking at the photos, I feel great happiness, so I want to share this happiness with you. After all, I think many readers here love the mountains, as I do.

Привіт, друзі! Це був чудовий день наповнений радістю, теплом та активністю. Я б хотіла, щоб таких днів у моєму житті було побільше. Переглядаючи фото, я відчуваю велике щастя, тому хочу поділитись цим щастям із вами. Адже думаю тут багато читачів люблять гори, як і я.

It was our old dream to go to the mountains together. "We" is me and my small church choir. Sometimes we go to beautiful places together, but we have never been to the mountains!
In order to make our dream come true, we had to wake up at 5.00 in the morning (for me it is a feat) and drive from our native Lviv to the Carpathians for two and a half hours!

Це була наша давня мрія - піти разом в гори. "Ми" - це я і мій невеликий хоровий колектив, з яким ми співаємо у церкві. Іноді ми разом їздимо у красиві місця, але в горах ще ніколи не бували! Для того, що здійснити мрію, нам довелось прокинутись вранці о 5.00 (для мене це подвиг) і дві з половиною години їхати з нашого рідного Львова у Карпати!

When the sun rose we noticed a lot of hoarfrost on the grass in the mountains. It was so beautiful and interesting!
As soon as we found ourselves in the town of Slavske, the driver of the minibus "caught" us and carefully drove us to the foot of the mountain (it happened so fast that I didn't have time to take a photo!)))). The distance there is about 8 km. It's not so much, but our time was limited and we wanted to spend more time on the mountain!

And so the climb began. We seem to be immersed in another world! I was amazed by the frost-covered plants!

Коли сонце зійшло ми помітили багато інію на траві у гірській місцевості. Це було так красиво та цікаво!
Як тільки ми опинились у містчеку Славське, то нас "впіймав" водій мікроавтобуса і дбайливо завіз до підніжжя гори (це сталось так швидко, що я не встигла зробити фото!)))). Відстань туди десь 8 км. Це не так і багато, проте наш час був обмежений і ми хотіли більше часу провести а самій горі!
І ось почалось сходження. Ми наче занурились в інший світ! Мене вражали рослини покриті інеєм!

Despite the clear sun, it was cool! The hoarfrost was not even going to melt! Our mountains are almost completely covered with forest. Mostly these are coniferous trees, which are evergreen, as well as beeches and birches, which decorated the world with their red and gold colors. These contrasts were breathtaking!
By the way, at the beginning of our trip we still did not know exactly where we were going. There was a funny situation. We have two mountains, which are popularly called "Zahar Berkut" (officially there are other names). By the way, Zakhar Berkut is a semi-legendary historical hero who defeated the Tatars in 1240.
I planned to climb an easier mountain in the village of Tukhlya (about 800 m), and young people wanted a more difficult climb to the mountain Vysokyi Verkh (1243 m).

Незважаючи на ясне сонце, було прохолодно! Іній навіть не збирався танути! Наші гори майже повністю покриті лісом. Переважно це хвойні дерева, які є вічнозелені, а також буки і берези, які прикрасили світ своїм рудим і золотим кольорами. Від цих контрастів захоплювало дух!
До речі, на початку нашої подорожі ми ще точно не знали куди їдемо. Виникла смішна ситуація. У нам є дві гори, які в народі називаються "Захар Беркут" (офіційно назви є інші). До речі, Захар Беркут - це є напівлегендарний історичний герой, який переміг татар у 1240 році.
Я планувала легшу гору у селі Тухля (780м), а діти захотіли складніший підйом на гору Високий Верх (1243 м).

It was not easy to climb up, because my children and teenagers do not have such experience! Adding to the complexity was the fact that the frost on the dirt road melted and it turned into a swamp. We often rested, took photos and just admired the scenery! With each meter up we saw more and more mountains. How I love this feeling!!!

Підніматись було непросто, адже мої діти та підлітки не мають такого досвіду! Складності додавало те, що мороз на грунтовій дорозі розтанув і вона перетворилась у болото... Ми часто відпочивали, робили фото і просто милувались краєвидами! З кожним метром угору ми бачили все більше і більше гір. Як я люблю це відчуття!!!

Why are there such roads? Here is the answer! In fact, this mountain is part of a ski resort. In winter there is a track for skiers. And in the warm season, people are usually taken to the top in jeeps or ATVs.
Of course it's interesting, but for me it was unexpected! If I were in the mountains every week, I would also like to ride an ATV. But I rarely come here, so for me the main thing is unity with nature, relishing the moment. Honestly, the constant noise and smell of gasoline distracted me from it!

Чому ж тут такі дороги? Ось і відповідь! Наспрвді ця гора входить до гірськолижного курорту. Взимку тут є траса для лижників. А у теплу пору року людей зазвичай возять на вершину на джипах або квадроциклах. Це звісно цікаво, але для мене це було несподівано! Якщо б я щотижня бувала в горах, то теж би хотіла покататись на квадроциклі. Але я тут буваю рідко, тому для мене головне це єдність із природою, смакування моменту. Чесно кажучи, постійний шум і запах бензину мене відволікав від цього!

In one place we had a halt near a closed well. And then we saw a very beautiful wooden house. Apparently there lives a worker who oversees the lift. When I see this, I always think: what is it like to live in such wild conditions away from people in winter?

В одному місці у нас був привал біля зачиненої криниці. А згодом ми побачили дуже красиву хатинку з дерева. Мабуть там живе працівник, що наглядає за підйомником. Я коли бачу таке, то завжди думаю: як це жити у таких диких умовах далеко від людей взимку?

My gaze focused either on close objects, such as this interesting plant, or on the beautiful scenery.
The contrast between the sun and the shadow was crazy, so I tried to take less photos (because it was difficult) and absorb these mountains more, just enjoy life!

Мій погляд фокусувався або на близьких об'єктах, як наприклад ця цікава рослина, або на чудових краєвидах. Контраст між сонцем і тінню був шаленим, тому я старалсь менше фотографувати (бо це було важко) і більше всотувати у себе ці гори, просто радіти життю!

After a snack, we overcame the last section before the top. Our youngest participant Dana was quite brave. And I realized that children should be taken more often on such trips. That they harden!

Підкріпившись смачними снеками, ми долали останній відрізок перед вершиною. Наша наймолодша учасниця Дана була досить сміливою. А я зрозуміла, що дітей варто частіше брати у такі подорожі. Щоб вони загартовувались!

The closer to the top, the more joy on the face.

That's the ridge. This is an unusual place! There are many roads made by transport, as well as yellowed grass. It all gave the impression that I was in the desert. And I liked it.)

Аж ось і хребет. Незвичайне місце! Тут багато доріг, зроблених транспортом, а також пожовкла трава. Це все створювало враження, що я є у пустелі. І це мені сподобалось)

That's the top! Wow, there is a whole park of jeeps. In the middle of the site there is a cafe where you can eat Carpathian dishes, and there is a stand with information about the ski resort. This is where the bravest skiers descend. After all, there is an even lower descent for beginners and a track for children.

Ось і вершина! Ого, тут є цілий парк із джипів. Посередині площадки стоїть кафе, де можна поїсти карпатських страв, а також тут є стенд з інформацією про гірськолижний комплекс. Саме звідси спускаються найбільш сміливі лижники. Адже є ще нижчий підйомник для початківців та траса для дітей

We were overwhelmed by the joy of achieving the goal. I had two opposite desires: to sit and relax drinking hot tea and walk around, admiring different landscapes. My wards chose the first option. It was windy, but so nice that you can finally sit down. We had about two and a half hours to stay on top. But they flew by like 5 minutes!

Нас охолювала радість від досягнутої мети. У мене було два протилежних бажання: сидіти і відпочивати, п'ючи гарячий чай і гуляти навколо, милуючись щоразу іншими краєвидами. Мої підопічні обрали перший варіант. Було вітряно, але так приємно, що можна нарешті посидіти. У нас було десь дві з половиною години для перебування на вершині. Але вони пролетіли як 5 хвилин!!!

Here, walking through the site, we noticed the entrance to the museum "kryivka". What is it? This was the name of the dugouts where the soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army lived in World War II.
They fought for the country's independence against the Nazis and the USSR (at least that was the official position of this organization!) After the victory of the USSR in the war and Ukraine's accession to the Union, they continued the guerrilla war for another 10-15 years. They hid in the woods and mountains. For the whole winter they hid in such underground places as this.

Ось, гуляючи площадкою, ми помітили вхід у музей криївку. Ще таке криївка? Так у 2 світову війну називали землянки, де жили воїни Української повстанської армії. Вони боролись за незалежність країни проти нацистів та СРСР. Після перемоги СРСР у війні і приєднання України до Союзу вони ще 10-15 років продовжували партизанську війну. Вони ховались у лісах та горах. На всю зиму вони ховались у такі підземні місця, як ось це.

This museum was created by a history teacher (this is a stylization, the real hiding place was of course not at the top, but in a more hidden place nearby). There is a collection of weapons, household items of the insurgents, as well as several mannequins that are a little scary.

Цей музей створив вчитель історії (це є стилізація, справжня криївка знаходилась звісно не на вершині, а в більш прихованому місці неподалік). Тут є колекція зброї, побутові предмети повстанців, а також кілька манекенів, які трохи лякають.

Kryivka is located inside the hill, and then it turns into a traditional house of a Carpathian mountaineer (here the mountaineers are called "bojky"). The large room and barn have old furniture, tools for making threads, wheels for the cart, a plow and much more.

Криївка розташована всередині пагорба, а потім вона переходить у традиційну хату карпатського горця (тут горці називаються "бойки"). У великій кімнаті та стодолі зосереджені старі меблі, інструменти для виготовлення ниток, колеса до воза, плуг та багато іншого.

And on the roof of this old house I suddenly saw solar panels. Such a combination of past and present. So, these light bulbs that shone in the dungeon, apparently take energy from the sun.

А на даху цієї старої хати я раптом побачила сонячні батареї. Отаке поєднання минулого і теперішнього. Отож, оці лампочки, які світили у підземеллі, мабуть беруть енергію у сонця.

Time flew incessantly. Everyone liked the tour and my teenagers had some free time without a special program. They stayed to rest and eat, and I went to the metal tower, because it seemed that there were fewer people and cars. I wanted to be alone with the mountains.

Час летів невпинно. Усім сподобалась екскурсія і було ще трохи вільного часу без особливої програми. Діти лишились відпочивати та їсти, а я пішла до вишки, адже здавалось, що там менше людей і машин. Мені хотілось побути наодинці з горами.

And here is the geographical peak of the mountain Vysokyi Verkh (ie High Top)!

Everything around was flooded with sun. It's so beautiful. On one tree were placed several boards on which children sat. Children-birds, I thought. And I envied them a little. I love such places!

Все навколо було залите сонцем... Це так красиво. На одному дереві були розміщені кілька дошок, на яких сиділи діти. Діти-птахи, - подумала я. І трошки їм позаздрила. Люблю такі місця!

I decided to take an example from a group of tourists who settled on the grass and just admired the mountains. I am writing these lines and I understand that I want to go there again! If November gives a little more warmth, I hope to fulfill this wish.

Я вирішила взяти приклад із групи туристів, які розташувались на траві та просто милувались горами. Пишу ці рядки і розумію, що хочу туди знову! Якщо Листопад подарує ще трохи тепла, то сподіваюсь здійснити це бажання.

It was much easier to go down! It was about three o'clock, but the sun was rapidly descending and the shadows became even thicker. I thought lightly that we were going down too fast and we could sit on top longer. But...

Вниз спуститись було значно легше! Була приблизно третя година, але сонце стрімко спускалось вниз і тіні стали ще густішими. Я легковажно подумала, що ми занадто швидко сходимо вниз і треба було ще посидіти на вершині. Але...

Проте з нами трапилась міні-прпигода. У мене розрядилась батарея і я попросила одну дівчинку зробити мені фото. І вона зрозуміла, що загубила телефон! Це був новий і досить дорогий телефон! Часу до поїзда лишилось не так багато. Нас чекав водій таксі, який мав підвезти нас до поїзда. Мої підопічні повелись дуже дружно і розумно. Частина людей пішла до таксиста вниз, а інша частина постійно дзонила на номер дівчинки та пішла вверх. Ми знали, що телефон загублено відносно недалеко. І буквально за хвилину нам відповів жіночий голос. Дійсно, телефон знайшла на узбіччі дороги пара молодих людей. Ми пішли їм назустріч. Як це чудово! На поїзд ми теж встигли і навіть попили кави на вокзалі.

A mini-accident happened to us. My battery ran out and I asked a girl to take a photo of me. And she realized that she had lost her iPhone! There is not much time left before the train leaves. A taxi driver was waiting for us to take us to the train.
My wards were very friendly and calm. Some people went to the taxi driver downstairs, and the other part constantly called the girl's number and went upstairs. We knew the phone was lost relatively close. And literally in a minute a woman's voice answered us. Indeed, a couple of young people found the phone on the side of the road. We went to meet them.
How wonderful! We were not late for the train.

The dog drinks drops of water from a spring.

And again a familiar house. We rested there for a while and I really liked the old apple tree. It was covered with lichen to the tips of the branches.

І знову знайома хатка. Ми трохи відпочивали там і мені дуже сподобалась стара яблуня. Вона до кінчиків гілок була покрита лишайником.
