One more reason why you don't let adventurers host dinner parties...

You might be asking, is that giant pig story a normal kind of thing that adventurers do in D&D? I can't speak for others, but in my experience it's ENTIRELY too common. In fact, the giant pig story presented here probably only rates maybe a 6 out of 10 among all the messed up stuff I've seen in games over the years. Personally, I suspect D&D tends to strongly attract the perversely creative members of the population more so than others. So I guess you normies should be thankful some of us weirdos have an activity to channel these anti-social impulses... 😁

Now as to the D&D game setting, one thing I've never seen mentioned are professional networks of teleportation circles. For those unfamiliar with 5th edition D&D, teleportation circles are something like destination-only 'Stargates'... to transport to them you have to know the right sequence of symbols. They're costly and time intensive to set up, but once done they can make travel a breeze for those who know the sequence. And so in my custom setting, that is how the Adventurer's Guild of the Forgotten Realms make much of their money... by facilitating instant travel for a fee. If you can't cast Teleport yourself, most guild branches have wizards available that can cast it for you for a hefty fee. But whether your party has a wizard that can cast 'Teleport' or not, the Guild still collects a nice fee for every arrival in one of their guild houses. Win win, baby!

As for Adventurer's Guilds themselves, I've never read anything saying they're a part of the D&D Forgotten Realms setting. But they ARE a pretty big staple in D&D-themed anime ('KonoSuba' is my favorite so far!). So I made them a part of my D&D comic universe, and made them just like any other bureaucratic, profit-obsessed organization. For you American readers, just think of my Adventurer's Guild something like if AT&T or Comcast were transported into the D&D universe. Yeah that's right, it's THAT bad... 😉

Yeah, that's pretty standard adventurer technique I think. !BEER

I've heard tales of D&D gaming groups that do NOT slaughter every monster they see, sell their enemies into slavery, or create chaos & disruption wherever they go. But like Bigfoot or an honest politician, they have yet to be conclusively proven to exist...

You know, any way to fatten up a pig for bacon is something that should be celebrated. I like it!

Have you seen the Acquisitions Incorporated expansion? Too much hilarious inspiration.

I haven't seen the actual expansion for D&D 5e, but I'm familiar with the series and the theme (gotta love Penny Arcade). My guild concept is a little more like a penny-pinching, bureaucratic corporation started to make money off of adventurers (rather than a company started by said adventurers) and whose mindset is that any collateral damage or destruction from their activities is someone else's problem. Kinda like if Mr. Burns from "The Simpsons" was dropped in a fantasy setting to run a business. 😈
