Well let's just say that I don't have any other vices for now, but just watching series, movies and as many documentaries that come my way.In this opportunity, I come to show you a miniseries that in turn is divided into several chapters, referring to scandals in the sports world, which is one more of my hobbies; I don't practice any of them, but it's something I like a lot, so as a spectator I know the basics of some sports.
Let's take a look at the technical data before getting into the subject.
Series: Uncovered.
Chapter: The bride that never existed.
Year: 2022.
Synopsis: While the American Football player Manti Te 'o draws the attention of professional league teams, his sentimental relationship over the Internet begins to grow (real life case).
Platform: Netflix.

In general terms I can say that this is not a series about athletes or sports, of course it touches the fiber of each of them, but it is more focused on scandals related to them and how to handle it.
I liked this one a lot and I feel that to a certain extent I identified with it, not because it happened to me (nor do I expect it to happen to me), but it is a case that apart from the typical situations that athletes or celebrities in general go through, such as drugs, prostitution, hotel scandals, cheating in gambling or even tax evasion, it does not compare to damaging the reputation of an athlete (or a normal person) with something he did not commit and for which he is judged harshly. So that you can understand a little of what I am talking about, keep reading these lines. I think I can avoid the Spoiler but if I must name facts that are unavoidable and important to understand the context of what the series is about.
Manti Te'o
Manti (in English Mantai) is originally from Hawaii. Because this is an island where the Polynesian culture predominates, he is a practitioner of respect for his parents, prayer, exemplary with values of obedience, discipline, and focused on getting his scholarship at the university because this is the most common way to enter the system without having resources.
With his values well established and following his father's advice, emphasizing his religious beliefs and practices, Manti was accepted in a soccer team and from then on his success was escalating due to his good play and results with his team. His life, despite being miles away from his family and the emotional and cultural shock, was not an impediment to his continued growth within his league.
For an 18 year old who was making it big, what could he be missing? ujum love. Age, hormones and fame are unforgiving so girls began to notice him, but because of his religion he was very cautious to talk to them. to tell the truth, soccer players are always the most acclaimed and for this reason, Manti did not go unnoticed; however, there was another trait, he was very shy.
One day, while visiting his social networks, he met a girl who sent him an application and he, being very reserved, made sure she was known to him (he had his cousin as a contact), to accept her.

Lennay Kekua
Lennay is a 22 year old Polynesian college girl, with very pretty pictures and that for any guy, would not go unnoticed. Lennay approaches Manti through the networks and begins a connection with him, writing to him daily, worrying about his strategies in the game, until little by little he begins to have a more intimate relationship with the promise of soccer.
One day, Manti receives the news that Lennay has had an accident and is in the hospital; he wanted to go to help her but they refuse to let him go. During those days, they keep in touch by phone since she was connected to breathing machines. At that very moment, they tell him that she has leukemia and soon after, Lennay dies the same day that Manti's grandmother dies, the same day that he has an important match. The soccer player dedicates his two important people on television. He has a sensational game that helps him to gain fame and position in his aspirations.

What do you mean the girl didn't exist? Look my dear readers, I was surprised because with so much advance in technology, so many ways to demonstrate false profiles, and to be fooled like that, well, it happened to him. The detail was that the way to deceive and manipulate him, even to call him with a feminine voice and keep the lie, was very well orchestrated. Everything is discovered because some journalists insinuate that he used all this to take advantage of the "compassion" of the people and climb up the ladder.
Naya Tuiasosopo, is the real name of the person behind the hoax. Naya is a trans woman, who when she started this lie, was still a man. She was not satisfied with her gender and took some photos from the network to make a false profile. The lie reached such a point that, like a murderer or psychopath, she watched the programs where they discovered this type of deception so as not to be discovered. Manti was unaware of all these strategies and that is why she fell so easily.

My assessment
I believe in her innocence, because Naya accepts her guilt. Also because sometimes we have the truth so obvious in our sight and we don't notice it. Besides that, Manti is a boy recognized for his effort, bravery, discipline and pride within his community, why do that?
Lies exist, people who cheat exist, people who take advantage of the honesty and affection of others exist, and it is not that we are distrustful but we must be more careful with the people we have contact with. Beyond the scandal, the deceit, he went through the shame of accepting that he was deceived and that his feelings were violated by a person.
However, the final lesson is that Manti came out ahead, with courage and with nothing to fear. His family was a great support and the people who believed in him are still by his side. This helped him to mature and focus on his game. Finally, what I liked the most, is that Manti did not hold a grudge or speak anything bad about Lennay, but rather, he has her in his prayers because he does not wish her ill.
And I call him Lennay, because he still doesn't know that his real name is Naya.

Espero que la puedan disfrutar y sea de su agrado, también si han pasado algún problema de este tipo sería recomendable para que vean que no estan solos y que las mentiras estan en todos lados.

Estupenda reseña, algo de Spoilers jajaja no es.mi.costumbre leerlas con Spoilers pero como bien dices, era necesario para explicar ciertas cosas. Sin embargo, se hace interesante por lo del fenómeno del engaño en las redes y de cómo pecamos de confiados y caemos aún sabiendo de esto.

Estado viendo estás series de "al descubierto", mi hermano me recomendó está, pero aún no la he visto, justo ayer ví la de hockey sobre hielo, te la recomiendo.
Pero para hablar de esto, pues no me sorprende el engaño, conozco amigos que les ha pasado, claro en una escala menor, pero en internet, pueden engañar a las personas fácilmente y más si eres un poco inocente.
Lo que me sorprende es que aún no sepa que Lennay no existió, tengo que verla para comprender todo mejor. Saludos
