Are you new to Splinterlands and searching for some advice, then you found the correct series! In this Beginner’s Guide Series, we are discussing things that new players of Splinterlands should know or try to learn. In this specific episode we will talk about the new reward cards in the Water Splinter. I already started with the Fire Splinter in my previous post, so check it out too! We will go trough every new reward card out there and discuss some of the pros and cons. In general I think that the water Splinter is one of the strongest Elements anyways which is probably the reason why they do not have the best reward cards. Nevertheless, I think there are a few gems that we will try to unveil. With that being said, if this article motivated you to start playing this amazing game, then feel free to join the fun over the following link:

Common Cards

Let’s start off with some interesting cards straight away. The Swap Spitter is a seven ma cost card that has very average stats in my opinion. With 2 ranged attack, 2 speed, 1 armor and 5 health it is a pretty alright card. What makes this card interesting to use is the Repair Ability. We are finally getting a Repair Card that can be used in the higher mana battles and that will probably be used very often in the Water Splinter with Kelya as summoner. The damage this card is making is not the biggest around town but it definitely is more than sufficient for a support card like this.

Next up we have one of my favorite cards in this Splinter now. It is basically the poor man’s Grund. Coastal Sentry has 3 attack, 3 speed, one armor and 6 health. The cost as well as the first two stats are very similar to Grund. The biggest similarity is the Double Strike Ability though! This card can be an awesome tank as well as second position card with the Water summoner that allows us to have the Reach ability. There will be plenty of use-cases for this card. I am very sure of that.

Rare Card

Moving on to the Rare Cards we have the Riverboat Captain. I was already lucky enough to get this card in one of my reward chests and let me tell you, this card is amazing! In general I would say that every card with the Explosion Ability is just awesome! It allows you to hit several targets at once and because this card is a magic attacker this damage goes immediately through to the hearth! Once you can level this card to level 6 with 3 mana attack, this card definitely will be a dangerous opponent, especially because it will be placed anywhere on the field and therefore have enough protection by other cards on your side!

Epic Card

Moving on to the only epic card in this set. This card is definitely designed to be paired with the legendary card that we are about to look at next. With weapons Training this card will get some attacking points and will be able to deal some damage. With an amazing speed of 6 and the additional Dodge ability, this card will be absolutely hard to hit. On the highest level it even has the newest Ability which allows to buff the cards around it once it dies. This means that it has a lot of benefits while alive and even gives something back if dead. A good card but very difficult to play if you do not have the correct cards to pair it with.

Legendary Cards

Last but not least we need to talk about the two legendary cards. Like I said in the beginning, these two cards are among the weakest legendary cards for this set of reward cards. Now, I might be completely wrong here, but this is just the first impression to be honest. With Kulu Mastermind, we are getting a pretty cool looking card! For 9 mana we are getting 4 attack, 4 speed and 9 health. In addition we have the Weapons Training Ability as well as the Opportunity Ability. The thing is that if we consider a normal match up, the Opportunity ability will basically help us to attack from the second position because the buff that this monster gives out to non attack monster will only give us a benefit if the buffed monster is in the first position. This means that this card needs to be in second position if we want to make the buff count. Admittedly not the end of the world but takes a little bit away from the opportunity ability in my opinion. With higher levels it even gets the Shield and Enrage Ability which makes him a very good tank by himself but in terms of combinations and creative plays I see a lot of lost potential here.

Last card for the water Splinter is Musa Saline. For 3 mana we are getting a Scavenge card that has 1 mana attack, 3 speed and 3 health. A cool card that is very well balanced I suppose. The longer the battle goes the stronger she gets and is definitely a great card to play in low mana battles. With the magic attacking style, this card is always a good choice which is why I would even prefer to have this card before the Kulu Mastermind. Nevertheless, if you get a quick hit on this card, you can lose her, so enjoy her services carefully as she might get sniped rather easily if not protected.
