1927 Swiss 20 Francs Gold Helvetia

in LeoFinance3 years ago

You cannot venture to improve your financial situation until you come to terms with what got you there in that situation, to begin with. It's the choices you make.

Some of the choices we make may have seemed great at the time. Like the $1,000 you spent on Christmas presents, the $3,000 spent on a trip to Disneyland, the $25,000 car loan you got yourself into because you needed a reliable car!

You can’t return your diploma and student loans. You can’t return a vacation you just took. Many of the financial choices we make are difficult to undo.

We all have money regrets. Accept yourself for where you are and the decisions you’ve made.

Learn from them. Try not to dwell on my money mistakes but use them as an educational tool to help yourself. And try not to make them again.

NOW is the time to start saving!

1927 Swiss 20 Francs Gold Helvetia

Swiss confederation occurred in 1848 and the new nation adopted the Swiss Franc as a form of currency tied to the French Franc. The 20 Francs denomination was introduced in Europe by Napoleon for France back in 1803, and before the continent had its modern Euro, there was the Franc as an international monetary piece. Nations across the continent adopted the 20 Francs denomination.

The history of Switzerland's 20 Francs Gold Coin includes a period of Helvetica design that stretches to the early 1880s and depicts a crowned Helvetia. These 20 Francs Gold Helvetia coins lack the crowned design and were issued in total from 1897 to 1935, and again in 1947 and 1949.

The Swiss 20 Franc Helvetia is one of the classic smaller gold bullion coins with a rich history dating back more than 100 years. And during that time it has stood for Swiss independence, sovereignty, fiscal strength, and a real gold-backed currency. The Swiss 20 Franc Helvetia gold coin is legal tender minted by the Swiss National Mint in Bern, Switzerland. This popular bullion coin is 90% gold meaning it contains a small amount of copper added for strength and durability.

The Swiss 20 Franc Helvetia weighs 6.45 grams and contains 0.1867 oz of gold. The Swiss 20 Franc Helvetia was struck in large quantities between 1897 and 1949 and was a bank reserve throughout Europe, trades for a small premium over its melt value. and fluctuates directly with the price of gold.

The reverse of the 20 Francs Gold Coins in the Swiss Helvetia collection includes the coat of arms of Switzerland. The coat of arms includes the national shield in the center with the country's traditional cross in the center. The background is adorned with oak leaves and its legal tender value (20 FR) and the date.

On the obverse of the 20 Francs Gold Coin is the bust of Helvetia. A female personification of Switzerland, her figure has flowing hair with a braid through the top and the peaks of the Swiss Alps visible in the background. This design for the coins came from Fritz Ulysse Landry in 1895.

And the next best TIME TO START is Tomorrow after you pay off the bills today.
When ever I see anything Swiss my mind goes back to the Movie, "The Sound of Music" when the VonTrapp family inspires the audience to sing 'Edelweiss'.

I may be old fashioned but always, with love 🤗 🌺 💖

No need for regrets... financial regrets that is.
Just correct the course!
I vaguely remember "The Sound of Music". I'm sure I watched the movie... or did I.
I know the line... 🎵 the hills are alive 🎵 with the sound of music 🎵... that's all I know!

Hugs and Kisses sis🥰🌺🤙!!!!

By November 1966, The Sound of Music had become the highest-grossing film of all-time—surpassing Gone with the Wind—and held that distinction for five years.

Wow the design goes back over a century. I thought there would be some changes by now.

Yes, the design goes back over a century... until 1947.
There are a few BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) left like this one.
Nice, huh?!
Thanks for your comment, @jfang003.

Yes it is nice. I guess you learn a few new things everyday.

always beautiful coins and they still have silver coins rattling around in circulation

Well, isn't that a pretty coin? Aren't they all? So hard to pick one, well, just one anyway. I agree with the savings plan, always.

Start young and teach your kids how to save so they don't struggle with debt when they get to be adults. Parents take too good care of their kids and forget to teach them the lesson.

Thank you always for the history behind the coins!

If there is anything parents should teach their young kids ... it is to save! It's so unfortunate that some themselves don't know how to save and they can't teach what they do not know.
They are pretty coins, alright! 1892, 1908, and 1927. How many years old is that... 129, 113, and 94 years old.
COOL!

I think one of the biggest problems is that a lot of parents from yesterday year did save because they didn't have credit cards and instant gratification was not here yet.

That is actually when the big problem started and the parents didn't know how to teach that because they didn't know. Everything started to go to hell in a handbasket when people overextended their credit and had no way to pay it back. At the same time when they wanted a new shirt slacks shoes or vacation oh, they just got it and worried about paying for it tomorrow.

You said it well, @dswigle!
A credit card is convenient... too convenient for the undisciplined user.
And the purchase of large, high ticket items is so easy to make with these cards, like cars...
Instead of the card used as a convenience, the card (the institutions that own it) has now enslaved the user.

I got a bunch of 20 Francs from 1910 to 1947, many from 1935.

Not as well protected as yours though.

Wow.
Please show them, @orlandumike!

I'm not sure I want to expose what I got ;)

But they looks exactly the same as yours, I got one from 1927 too.

Okay. Understood.

Gold is beautiful! I like the coat of arms; but then I tend to like coats of arms (is that said right, lol?) anyway!

A nice little gold piece for your stack my sis! Hugs and kisses!🤗😘💖🌸

Me too. The Coat of Arms of Switzerland is very simple! The traditional cross in the middle is telling.
Yup, another gold piece to the stack!

Hugs and Kisses sis 🥰🌺🤙!!!

Awesome!🤗😘🌸💖

It's so easy to get yourself in debt @silversaver888, the banking system in this country encourages everyone to get into debt! It takes quite a bit of willpower to not splurge on unnecessary things and to continue to save and invest. It goes against everything that we have been taught.....
Beautiful Swiss 20 Franc Helvetia @silversaver888!😀

Certainly easy, @silvertop.
I pity those who have gotten into the rut and are paying monthly, through the roof, minimum amounts just to get by. I have to thank one guy in the silver stacking community of YouTube who had the courage to speak his mind and said that I had to be debt-free before I could stack. I believed him! And here I am today!

Excellent @silversaver888, we were in that trap when we were first married! Revolving charge cards that let you pay the minimum balance, it's like digging a hole and never getting out! So glad we also started stacking have a wonderful weekend my friend! 😀

Oooooooo Aaaaaaaa ... GOLD! I never would have guessed those where the Swiss Alps there in the background, but now that you mention it I can see it. I bet it's much cooler in person.

Nice intro again. Save save save. Hard to avoid some bills, but with age comes wisdom. I was always saving my money from a very early age. I also started off at local county college to save dough. I was either smart or very lucky in some of the choices I made early on. hahaha.

Good for you! You made wise choices!
I started to pay off my revolving credit 7 years ago and was totally done with it in less than two years. That's when I started stacking! It was a thorn in my side... and what a relief!
