LeoFinance User Feedback. Leo Pride.

in LeoFinance3 years ago

A couple of days ago I asked the LeoFinance Community for feedback in this post.

https://leofinance.io/@whatsup/leo-pride-farming-the-community-for-ideas

The feedback and interaction on the post was awesome, thank you all for taking your time to communicate. Our current users are a reflection of our future users and play an important role in shaping the future of the platform.

The post asked 2 questions: How did you hear about or find Leofinace.io and what can we do to grow the community as a Social Network vs. only being attractive to a limited market of aspiring Authors and Bloggers.

Most of those who responded reported that they joined back in the Steem days and migrated over with the split.

Other answers included clicking on twitter articles or found an article via an Internet Search.

I'd like to get more feedback from some of the younger accounts that have found us more recently. So please continue to respond here.

Regarding growth many focused on the retention side of the issue of making things easier on end users, a theme of needing support, guides or mentoring was a strong theme amongst those who took the time to answer.

Many users also mentioned how important engagement is to them, and I understand that feeling there is nothing worse than posting to the universe and having total silence as a response.

A part of @shortsegments thoughtful answer above.

I'd like to gather a bit more feedback before moving on, so please continue to provide feedback here.

Early suggestions:

Young accounts could use some support to get up and operational. We don't have a formal plan for this yet, but in the meantime when you come across new users offer some assistance, or if they are just misusing tags try offering assistance instead of harsh reprimands.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) could be key to users wanting to join the conversations here. Note: Please see @hitmeasap recent posts on this topic to understand how this works.

Please continue to answer the following questions.

  1. How you found out about LeoFinance.
  2. What are your suggestions on growing the User base.

A note about the last post and some clarification and Politics and it pains me to address it at all. :)

It seems an end user thought I used the leo.voter account to upvote the post.

I didn't.. Khal upvoted it for visibility. I have no access to that account.
HiveWatchers decided to downvote that post and another based on this end-user's report. It was a funny process trying to communicate with them, ultimately they removed one downvote but not the other, and chose not to answer why.

I have zero interest in "Rewards Disagreement" battles, but I want to make it clear as a Leo Curator I do not control nor have access to the Leo.voter account. Let's avoid being petty.

Social Media is fun, it's casual and does not require stress.

My goals as a Leo Curator are to reward end-users for engagement and participation and to build enthusiasm within the community.

Sort:

I’ll be honest. That’s what I do best.

I found Leo via Hive and Figure I could cash a couple extra shit tokens. Honestly though between here and a farther back second with peakd, I really like what the platforms are doing. I’ll probably power up as much as I can here.

Leo is trying to be a bigger brand. It’s built on Hive and is still reliant on certain mechanisms of it but it focuses on growing out of our little echo chamber here. That’s commendable and what we need.

Will I use it everyday? No.

Will I use Leo when it’s relevant to use it? Absolutely.

The focus should be exactly where it’s at, growing the brand and expanding the user base. Maybe integrating technical chart ideas would be a great asset to have here. (Something in the flavor of Tradingview.)

I'm so glad you are back! I love this answer, no need to use it everyday, that's the kind of stress this Community wants to avoid. :)

Use it when it works and watch market trends!

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah I have a much healthier view of my relationship to the chain now. I want to have fun with it. Enjoy it casually. The chain is not life.

I do however feel great about everything. Crypto is fun. I’ll be (trying to) work on dev projects to build up my school portfolio. Between being a dad, working emergency services, and school I don’t have the time to be a lifer here any more. This is my fun time. I also no longer have a tolerance for bullshit. Much of the bullshit is gone now though.

I couldn't agree more, social media is for fun.

Let the Authors.. Author, but let's not make this have to be a full time job. It runs people off.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Just keep doing what you do. I like the approach you take conflicts and needless battles on the chain. I've been very bullish on Leo and see it having as bright a future as Splinterlands or brighter. Let's just keep up with the enthusiasm and support

That's exactly what I hope to do, just go about the business of supporting and enjoying Leofinance.

I would say the same back to you, keep doing what you are doing.

I won't talk about downvotes or people feeling the need to police. Let's focus on other things instead, such as why I love LeoFinance and things I believe is crucial to take us to new heights.

Long story short, I knew about this place ever since the Steem days, but it wasn't until we moved to Hive I finally decided to jump on board.

I did so mainly because I loved how responsive the team behind LeoFinance where. I felt welcome on Leo. It felt like people actually cared about me on Leo, regardless of my stake and regardless of me being new to the scene or not.

The frequent updates and the amazing communication with the community, to see that the team actually cared about what people said made the decision one of the easiest ones ever.

The community members where another extremely awesome thing as well. It was an active community with people like you and me. I never felt like anyone was trying to diminish or ridicule me or others. I saw people trying to help, encourage, inspire and support each other, along with trying to do what they felt was the best for the entire community.

I have not always agreed with everything people have said or done and I am sure that everyone doesn't agree with everything I have said or done either, but it has never been a discussion or bad behaviour because of it which is something I believe is crucial for success.

You can't knock, hit or slap people around if you want them to do something. You can't control or steer people's actions like that. The only thing it will lead to is misery and people leaving, which is the exact opposite of what we want. LeoFinance and the community members seemed to be on the same page as me in that regard.

I also believe in organic traffic (thanks for the mention), which means optimized content, and even though there are many doubters out there who questions the importance of rankings and even though some people seems to be certain of the fact that it's "impossible for a place like Hive to focus on optimized content", I was thrilled and amazed when I saw khal talking about hiring SEO experts for LeoFinance. That was "ages ago" already, and even though that had nothing to do with me joining LeoFinance, it definitely encouraged me greatly as it felt like someone had finally been able to understand how important organic traffic is..

So, I am not the absolute best paid author, not the best author or content creator, I'm not on some awesome whale-auto votes and I wouldn't call myself a friend of Khal or anyone else for that matter, but this is home.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I love the tone and the attitude in this post and this is what I want to develop as a culture. People gathering to talk about opportunity and options and support each other in growth.

We can continue to make Leo an awesome place to make friends, hang out and enjoy.

Quality content is great, but so is engagement and friendship.

Glad you are here and I appreciate what you are doing with SEO stuff

It’s sad that people feel the need to police in that way. Policing can be good but it can be just as bad (even worse) for the Hive blockchain when it’s overdone, communication about why/when/how, etc. are poor.

It seems an end user thought I used the leo.voter account to upvote the post.

Can confirm that I have sole access to curation via leo.voter and when I upvoted your post it was to front-page it on the hive blockchain.

Downvote pictures of flowers getting $10. Don’t downvote the newest team member of the #1 ranked community on the entire chain. 🤦🏽‍♀️ If stuff like this continues, let me know and we can take action. Downvote wars are so pointless

Thanks for doing these WU! I had fun reading through the responses on the last one and look forward to what we find in this one 🦁

Posted Using LeoFinance Mobile

No one wins with downvotes. Maybe people should focus on what they bring to the table, you know?

I actually think downvotes and curation are important, but when a group of people decide it is their job and spend hours a day in a chatroom talking about who to downvote and why... and are using community funds, they should stick to clearly defined guidelines and their stated purpose, which isn't to pick winners it's to fight abuse and plagiarism.

The problem comes when they decide to use that "antiabuse" stake for personal disagreement.

If they want to do that, get their own damn stake.

Well stated.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thanks Khal!

Onward and Upward!

Downvote pictures of flowers getting $10.

I rarely see flower photo posts, which get $10, but still.
Why downvote it, if the content is original and quality?
Some people spend a lot of money on their photo equipment, and they also often spend a lot of time to take photos. Sometimes they even edit their photos. They deserve the rewards. $10 is not that big anyway. The half of that will go to the curators, and the author will get only $5.

Good points. Since it's not my thing, I can't imagine surfing pictures of flowers, but I am sure people do!

I found LEO after I came back from "the drama" early this year. The only surviving "friend" I had from the pre-Hive days responded to a discord message I sent him and told me I should check out LeoFinance. So I did.

I was hooked immediately and set about building a stake. This was in January when the #ProjectBlank hype was happening and there was going to be a snapshot for an airdrop. It obviously didn't happen and we got CUB instead but I was off to the races with this community right out of the gate.

As far as suggestions go, it was extremely difficult for me to get any questions answered or find information on how to do certain things early on. Things as simple as "How do I transfer HIVE from Bittrex?" or "What is LeoDex and what's the difference between that and Hive-Engine?" These were very important questions to me and there wasn't an easy place to go to get any answers.

So my suggestions would be: there needs to be a place newbies can go to find answers. I love what @shortsegments suggested above with the 10-step process thing. However, if I want to do things NOW, it would be very helpful to find a wiki or something filled with information I can read through on my own, as fast or as slow as I want. And something I can go back to time and again to refresh my memory or get more answers.

While discord can be a good resource, many people don't even know what that is let alone how to go about getting on it to ask questions. There just needs to be a link on the home screen somewhere that people looking for answers can click on to get somewhere they can find them.

Another suggestion would be to possibly have different "Feeds" for different user-levels. In other words, have a "newbie" feed, or less-than-100 LEO Power feed. And then maybe different levels like 100-1000 Leo Power feed. It would be a way for new users to interact with people at their same level so they don't feel alone. It would also be a place larger accounts could go to curate and see about helping out some of those new users; rewarding them for effort and maybe giving some constructive feedback on their posts.

No one would be "forced" to use any of those particular feeds, but, again, it would give new-users a sense that they're not alone staring at posts that get $30, $50, even $100 or more while they struggle to get a single LEO. Most of us have been there. It's not fun.

Anyway, those are a couple of my thoughts. The wiki idea seems like one users could get behind. Someone would have to lead the charge though and I am definitely NOT a candidate. lol

I'm glad you found your way back and made it to Leo!

What a thoughtful and detailed response you've left! Thank you so much for the feedback, I think the information, training and resources for questions has been a very consistent message in this post!

I'm going to make a follow up post, but Thanks for the great input!

I am not a new account, but I would like to comment on what has worked for me.

Among many things it has worked for me to comment, since it forms 70% of the work as a blogger that I do in leofinance, since this way I get noticed and learn many things that may not come out in the instructions.

The remaining 30% is to publish quality content and invest what you can earn, since investing will have greater impact on your business.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Great article that shows the pride of a curator and plans to enrich this community. Manual curation is not an easy thing and going over 100 posts and seeing maybe 10 worth upvoting and encouraging sometimes might not be so motivating, but consistency is the key. Spreading the wealth is something that we need to have in mind and giving a boost and some advice to new users is one thing we should be looking for.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes, if we want to grow we have to make things easier, be more welcoming, celebrate success and break away from making people do this full-time to be successful.

As a co-curator maybe we should post about our various styles. I like to reward engagement and fun over painstaking articles.

Would love to hear your criteria and thought process.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Is it true that LeoFinance is only meant for those users here on HIVE who write about cryptocurrency and economy? I mean, can you be potentially well rewarded if you write about other topics as well? I was just wondering and thank you very much in advance for a pertinent answer! Keep up the good work as well, wonderful article! :)

Yes, it is true that LeoFinance is focused on Investment, finances and crypto.

I wouldn't use the tag if I were writing about my cat.

I sometimes post articles about a health issue in my family, and when I write those, I do not use the tag.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Oh, I see. Thank you very much for this clarification. Keep up the good work and all the best! :)

You are welcome! There are many tribes that focus on other topics or that allow general topic conversations.

All the best to you as well!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thank you once again for another great clarification! All the best to you too! :)

Well I started on HIVE through Splinterlands. LeoFinance was one of the sites that gave me more relevant information through the search engines and I decided to look through it when I had some time later on.

As for suggestions, I would probably have a help button that people can press on that leads them to a FAQ button as most people who start off are probably still learning about how HP and RCs work.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's cool, I've been wondering if we would get any splinterlands traffic!

Super happy to hear it.

We do need a centralized, searchable, help/guide data base.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It was almost a year back when I joined due to Splinterlands. As I was learning how to convert tokens and how to join the play to earn scene. I found the best resources tend to be on PeakD or LeoFinance so I ended up going towards those.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Got to meet this part of the entire post and I believe that apart from the weekly top article picks , I think engagement should be considered. Leo Finance members who engaged in other people's post should be rewarded in monthly or biweekly intervals

Well, I'm not sure how that would work, but one thing I try to do to encourage this is to vote heavily on comments!

Curation rewards remain the same now.

I'll think about this though

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well , since you vote on engagement then it should be enough because I got to understand that it will be a big task on you to curate comments as well

People can always reward each other with something.
For example now I give you some !PIZZA and !LUV.

<><

<><

LUV

Connect

Trade

@joseph23, you've been given LUV from @xplosive.

Check the LUV in your H-E wallet. LUV changes soon. (1/3)

@joseph23! I sent you a slice of $PIZZA on behalf of @xplosive.

Did you know Pizzabot speaks Spanish if you use the command ESPIZZA? (1/10)

Wow am not aware of this. How can this be done , what are the command to be used ?

Pizza and Luv are tokens. You can call their bots in the comments to reward others, if you hold enough of them in your Hive Engine wallet. The bots will give tokens from their own wallets, and not from yours. There are other similar tokens, for example Beer, Wine, Engage, etc.

@whatsup,
I don't think that post deserve a flag. It feels like a brainstorm session for the community!
$WINE

Cheers~

Thanks my friend! I didn't think so either.

Hive Power Up Month - Feedback from Day 7
Feedback from the September 1st Hive Power Up Day

Is there any easy way to see how this ranks? :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sure, use our ranking page.

I'm not quite a "young" user when it comes to Hive, as it's been about a year and a half for me here (with a wide absence in the middle), however, I am still pretty new to the Leo community.

I really enjoy everything that's going on here - the community has absolutely flourished since I last noticed when I was around last year. So many cool initiatives going on, and the fact that the community is expanding outside of just Hive (in terms of tokenomics and projects, i.e. wLeo and Cub DeFi), it's honestly what made me gravitate over here. You guys literally are creating your own galaxy, and naturally, new people with an affinity for investing / finance will find themselves caught in orbit around LEO's moon!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

La idea es que cada persona interactúe en las comunidades, contribuya cosas buenas y de interés para todos, me gusta siempre revisar los post de las personas para aprender de cada uno poco a poco. Saludos.

I think this site is awesome and easy to use. If you try other blockchain blogs trust me you need to this and that OMG lol where as LEO it is easy. Where ever I can I will help others and share this platform on my twitter feed most of the time so you should get some positive ROI Network Effects from me Leo.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Maybe a nice clear link on the front page of the website that takes you to a list of pages with all the info to get started on Leo/ Hive, like a wiki including FAQ on how to do certain things.
I have been around LEO since the start, often lurking in the background trying to learn from the wise. I still have great difficulty finding information.

I think the new curation team, some of the projects being worked on and discussed and up and coming marketing efforts will get things back on track.

A lot of people understandably moved from LEO into Cub. There they can earn rewards without having to Authors posts.

That's one of the reasons we want to change the culture and move forward with more fun and less stress in the Leo Community

 3 years ago  Reveal Comment

Hello, I don't think we've meet! I love high engagement posts and I like it that you found LEO and are enjoying it.

Yes, we do need to keep the engagement up and comment comment comment!

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback.

but i know most people would rather eat a rotten fish and poison themselves than complain

And if you complain, some people will blame you that you complain. I know. I used to complain (write the truth about the lack of the real human engagement on the Hive blockchain).
