People are not disturbed by things, but by the view they take of them.

I’ve been craving this view for a few weeks now but, because of my commitments and other factors, have been unable to make it a reality. It’s not that I’ve not had the time to go there on the weekend, more that I’ve not found the motivation to take the drive to get there. Here’s the thing though, a day spent looking at this view would improve my overall view. Walking the coastal trail with rolling green hills on one side and to the south nothing but ocean and, eventually Antarctica, really is something special. Is it really that hard to drive a couple hours for this view and the benefits I’ll get from it? Well, no not really, I’ve just been lazy I guess.

This weekend I’ll be taking the drive and, despite the fact there’s supposed to be some rain, they’ve forecast intermittent blue skies so I’ve decided to take the risk. What’s the worst that can happen, and besides, I have wet weather gear and a little rain will keep others away; that’s a good thing.

It’ll take me almost two hours to get there so my plan is to head down early and grab a light breakfast in Victor Harbour then head over to Petrel Cove and take a long hike heading to the west. I’ll do a four hour round trip with a stop for something to eat and drink at some point. I’ll take my food with me, trail mix, crackers, a small can of tuna and dried apricots for something sweet. I’m taking my JetBoil also so I’ll be able to brew up some coffee. It sounds ok, right?

I’ll not be hiking alone this weekend and the company will be welcome. Having said that though, there’ll be long moments of silence and it’s in those moments I’ll find the most value , and in them when the view will begin to work and to change my view.

I’m not one to hold onto a bad attitude generally and usually my view on life is positive; sometimes though, like all of us, there’s moments in which I backslide and I think that’s where I am currently. I don’t like it. I’ve had a few things going on in the last couple weeks, not just work, but in my personal life also, and I’ve let it pile on a little, the weight I mean. Today, after yet a little more weight, I decided it was time to cast some off and that’s what I’ll do on the weekend.

How about y’all? What’s on your agenda? Have you even thought about the weekend yet? Let me know what’s up in the comments.

Happens to the best of us. For me, it is partly why I started running. You do what you need to do to get your head straight...have a great time hiking

Running has the same ability to centre a person for sure. It brings focus through the repetition of one food in front of the other and the brain's need to regulate breathing. I'm not surprised you say this and I think it works the same for many others. Do you run every day?

Thanks for commenting.

Three times a week, but it does wonders

Three is a good number and allows some rest in-between. I used to run a lot myself but not so much anymore. I hike a lot though, usually. Work has been a bit full on these last week's though, hence my need to escape for a day of hiking.

My heart warmed looking at the photo 😍✨ I am such a big fan of the ocean. The quality of the photo looks amazing as well ❤

It's a beautiful part of the world. From that point I took the photo, looking south, the next land a person comes to is Antarctica. That's cool right? It can be very cold in this spot though, the day looked sunny but it was only about 12 degrees C. This weekend it's supposed to be a little warmer at 15 degrees C. It's ok though, I'll take my chances. 😁

Seems when people are that tired the body/brain/both rebel hard against doing anything else at all even if long term it would be something beneficial.

Sounds like you've got a great weekend planned :)

I'm hoping we'll squeeze in another hike this weekend (we try to go at least once). Other than that I tend to focus on roleplaying stuff (I'm also crunching roleplaying stuff for the rest of this week probably seeing as enough randomness happened that the schedule went violently out of whack and it was much easier to just try again later than try to salvage anything).

Yep, I think you're exactly right with the mind-rebel comment; it's not that I don't want to, just that the brain said rest. Well, fuck you brain, I'm making a hike happen. 😉

Although...so have to spend some time working on my tax stuff for my accountant also. 😥

It sounds like you have a bit happening this weekend also, I hope you have a good one.

Oh yeh tax time, yay -_- will probably be some of that happening too. Bleh XD

Tax time = 🤮

No.... I haven't thought as far as the weekend yet.

This is phone HEdoublehockeysticks week at work and I am just trying to get through it with most of what is left of my sanity intact. LOL So I took tomorrow off to break it up, my mental health day. I don't even have tomorrow plan except for about an hour where I will go have my blood drawn for my doctor's appointment next week. Before and after are all mine and I don't have plan one ! I still manage to use all my time up, even if I don't have a plan. ha ha

That is a lovely view for sure. Being near water is magic. Soak up all those negative ions and come away lighter in mind and spirit.

Retaining one's sanity is always advantageous. 🤪

No plans? Fancy a hike in Australia? You're welcome to join us this weekend. 🤣

It IS advantageous and you do at least have to try to hold onto it.

A hike in Australia??.... I'm thinking on that and even the thought of it makes me tired...LOL.... and I just up ! I'll just be lazy here and hope you are taking lots of photos of what I am missing ... or have missed already.... since our time zones are different.

Being lazy is ok sometimes. ✅

I'll also be off soon, out of town searching for such views for about 5 days or so. Dying for some fresh air and pretty views.

Nice work, I'm sure you'll find something, and enjoy it when you do.

YESS SIRRR, that's the plan. 🥃

To be honest, my first thoughts were... I think it's fun to do that if you're someone who enjoys being alone . While on the other hand, it's too boring and lonely if you're someone who's not used to being alone. I think that's how we say everyone of us is different.

As for me, I enjoy both. It's good to have some change of space from time to time. It's also good for our wellness to meet other people and see other places than where we think is a safe place for us. Just like how no man is an island, it's indeed a good idea to have a better view of the world outside than staying in one place. You know, experiences are once in a life time.

Also, it's nice that you're able to go to places like that. Someday, I'll be able to do that too without worrying what I could leave behind.

I hike alone quite a lot, I guess for the solace I find in silence, although yes, having company is also nice for many reasons. The right company of course.

I hope you are able to find places like this sooner rather than later, they are wondrous. I don't necessarily mean the same view, I mean places that make you feel centred, relaxed and more in tune with yourself.

Thanks for your comment.

The right company of course.

Indeed, the right company... You're right I hope I can do that sooner than later. Other than gathering courage to change how I present myself and my way of living, I still need to do lots of work to achieve my goals. There were many things that got out of hand in my life for the past years but I still wanted to do what I wanted to do at the start. The goal and passion never changed.

I would rather be stubborn with my view than take on other path and realize that everything wasn't meant for me. It's just me and my stubbornness. Looks I quite stayed out of the topic.

If you have goals and passion then you've got at least two of the elements you'll require to move yourself forward. Find the others then bring the together as best you can and you'll find yourself moving forward; will it bring you ultimate success? Hmm, maybe...and if not then it'll at least bring you a little closer.

Why was there a doubt? On a serious note, I think the decisions we make plays are vital apart from the two. Although, I think the journey isn't so worth it without a goal and passion.

You're right, the journey is made a little better through having a concept of where the destination may lie, and through having the ability to pivot if required.

I like how you reply to my thoughts Mr. @galenkp. And I can say that you're far ahead of me in terms of wisdom. Of course, I will not dare to say why. 😉

I've lost touch with that place that makes everything all right. I can almost reach it, but, it might as well be 100 mikes away.

Sounds like it can be a productive weekend for body and soul. That can never be bad, right? Tuna in a tin and time with nature. Everything will be alright.

I'll be off to the shore for a couple of days. Lightning killed my internet and other issues with a big storm last night. It actually turned on my dvd player and turned it back off. Scenes from a thriller.

Hi, Galen.

Hey Swigs, one must always know when to find that place in which one feels whole, and wholesome. I'll be doing it on Sunday. (Shooting Saturday.)

You sure it was a storm or was it a ghost? Lol.

I hope you have a good Wednesday, I'm at the end of mine with Only two more days to go before the weekend...which I'm looking forward to. 😊

It was like the house got hit with an explosive.

The fog opened the morning, and now it is brilliant out. I'll hopefully get it squared away soon.

Boy! When it rains on life, it pours. Then of course, it eventually dries. Have a great night!

Well said, the rains then dries comment. ✅

If it were in my hands to travel those 4 hours round trip just to have this beautiful view I would surely do it.

It is really beautiful, subtle, striking, the quality of the image makes it feel like we are so close to that place through the screen.

I hope you are doing great and that a warm breeze envelopes your being, as you concentrate on that majestic view.

I also hope to go out on the weekend to a place where I can have a nice time with the family.

It's going to be a great day I think, rain or sunshine, and I'm looking forward to it. Do you have any plans of where your going this weekend? Somewhere enjoyable I hope.

I'm sure it will be great to be in that beautiful place.

And do you just contemplate that beautiful view or do you also take a bath at the beach, even if the water is very cold....

This weekend I will go with my girl to a photo pose workshop. It will be good to learn too.

I'm not one to get into the water much, it's Australia, too many sharks. 😊

I hope you enjoy your workshop this weekend.

Hahahaha I love how you looked at the positive side of the rain...at least it would keep others away 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 so you can have the time for yourself.

I can see you are prepared for this trip with the amazing things you would take along to keep your mouth busy and body refreshed too. Who wouldn't love such a view as this? A view to change the view...🤩🤩🤩

My weekend was busy, stressful but fun. Moved to the other end of the state I am residing to greet my brother and his family. The rain didn't help though because when it rains here, traffic is always a mess. We spent longer hours on the road. My body aches. Got there Saturday noon and left just yesterday. It was fun and engaging but faced another traffic coming back home. I haven't recovered yet 🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂 I need more sleep but looking at responsibilities 😂😂🤣😂😂 sleep disappeared.

How are you doing today, sir?

So...you need a weekend to recover from your weekend? I need the same on occasions! Lol.

😂😂😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣 absolutely... But I would manage... 🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂😂. Try and rest as much as you can sir. You have worked hard for it.

You drove for four hour, to and fro to get to this place the view is lovely the water and the leaves in front are pretty amazing, it is indeed hiking alone, for you to have this amazing view the four hours drive is worth it.

Hmm no, I did nothing about driving for four hours. I think when you skimmed my text you missed many points indeed. Take another read and then feel free to comment once you have actually read my post.

If it takes you almost 2 hours to get there, then definitely it will take you almost 4 hours for the entire journey.

You didn't read my post, I know you didn't because you said, I drove, using past tense, meaning it has already happened, which it has not.

My suggestion is you read a post and understand it before you comment and then comment with relevance. That way you'll have more of a chance to actually engage with the author rather than make yourself look ridiculous.

ok, i really missed it, i will be taken a drive to, it hasn't happen yet, my bad
