II

Ramon Letondu has settled in Szohôd. It took him only two hours to drive from the border to the capital city of Borduria, where he first rented a room for two weeks at the Metropol Hotel.

This 19th-century hotel has had an interesting history. From the time of his creation to the beginning of World War II, many famous people and even more non-famous ones stayed at the Metropol Hotel when visiting the capital city of the Kingdom of Borduria.

Borduria stayed neutral during World War I, but it could not do the same in 1940 when Germany invaded them. The Metropol Hotel became the seat of the occupation government. After the war, during the dictatorship of Marshal Plekszy-Gladz, several ministries of the central government continued to occupy the building.

After the Tulip Revolution, when Borduria became a democracy in 1968, it became again a hotel, after more than a year of rehabilitation and modernization.

During his two week stay at the hotel, Ramon looked for more permanent lodgings. He bought a large loft in the oldest part of the city, where many artists and writers from many European nations were living. He bought furniture at the IKEA store and had them installed professionally.

Ramon Letondu has settled in Szohôd.

You have used persnickety verb tenses incorrectly, making it difficult to follow. Your first and last sentences are in present perfect tense, which is a wonky tense to write in. But pretty simple to fix I think.

Three simple verb tense suggestions to make it less clunky:

  • It took him only two hours to drive from the border
  • where he first rented a room
  • Borderia stayed neutral

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

Ah, Ikea. We know a song about that :)

interesting story, I will wait for the next part.

Man like Ramon. Seems to have everything at his beck and call 😁
