I DO NOT support dTube videos
Yes. From this point onward, I DO NOT support D.Tube videos posted on hive blockchain. This is simply because most of that content is completely useless crap posted just to milk hive reward pool. Mostly commonly these are junk phone videos posted by people from South East Asia (also from other places, but I wanted to single it out on purpose). No, this is not a racial or provincial comment, simply because I am from South East Asia. I am a brown guy, so don't try and pull the 'race card' on me, as it will be useless.
The main problem is the lazy, auto curation by dtube. Once people are on the DT 'approved' list, an individual can post any old useless crap cell phone video (typically posted on youTube, as it is nearly impossible to post anything natively on dtube) and it will gain a vote. In addition to that the owner of dtube clearly hates hive, and does not care about content quality. So if dtube does not takes care of content quality, we will do it ourselves.
Nearly all of the posts with pending DT rewards are from small accounts, some of which are years old. They barely any VP to speak off, get no comments, and if they do, they don't respond. If they respond, it is usually 'thank you'. They cash out regularly (not all, but most).
Based on all these points I have decided majority of dtube content is for farming purposes only. I prefer NOT of support such spam. So I will not and if I see fit I will downvote as many accounts as I can posting useless junk on dtube.
Thanks to @slobberchops for helping me out with some of these points, and also for creating a digital tool to screen, some of the lowest of the low contents. These low contents, many of us will downvote on a dairly basis, without any explanation.
It's the mindless churning out of content that appears 'template based' that nobody looks at, nobody comments on, the OP does not vote, the OP does not comment that I object to.
Besides this, these posts contain a YouTube video as the main feature with a dtube one somewhere in the footer of the content. The tag is being abused and the owner does not give a crap about what dtube votes for.
These accounts almost always have barely any HP, and often they send the dtube rewards of $1.35 or so per day to Binance or some other exchange on a regular basis. HBD gets converted to liquid and that follows.
I don't take any pleasure in downvoting anyone, there needs to be good reason. This misused part of the reward pool could go to someone who is trying hard to make a name on HIVE.
This is what the dtube owner thinks of HIVE. His personal account is well into the negative and so he shows his disdain in transactions memos.
If you want to flaunt your video content, use @threespeak. These guys do give a shit (and hopefully curate better than the non-existant dtube curation).
I think @azircon, we can use this post of yours as a template to any confused farmer who complains about his money being 'stolen'. Most of them think doing this is 'free' money.
Some of us bought a lot of HIVE with ££, $$ or some other fiat and have a valid investment in the chain, and it's perception should not be thought of as 'freebies' or 'scammy content'.

Yeah, as you know, I have been seeing this for a while. I felt writing this post will help, so that if anyone asks for 'explanation', just point to this post. I am willing to take the responsibility of whatever crap that comes.
The sad thing is that so few address this issue and that allows it to continue. You know those I mean, five or six users. The rest don't use their downvote out of fear they may lose a few cents from downvote reprisals, which rarely happens...But if a thousand users downvoted each of these dtube fuck heads, the vote farmers, they'd not exist and the blockchain would be a better place for everyone.
Upvote abuse is actually the biggest problem of hive, since the beginning. So few uses their DV power!
Most of my DV power has been consumed on these videos. Have been trying to make them understand that posting shit to milk the automated votes is not what we support here. I'm glad to see you join as, even though the rewards are little over $1 per post, my DV power is almost zero every day. Rewards should go to those who make an effort to bring quality posts.

Fully agree as this is a low effort post offering no value to Hive as there is no effort and is purely posted for milking the dtube automated vote. I have been roped in to help when required and will continue to down vote.

I see some people posting videos with it, but never commenting on Hive. I think those videos end up on other sites too. I guess it's all just automatic if they upload to YT. I'm less likely to vote up people who never engage here anyway.

I stopped posting my YouTube videos on dtube a few months ago after a tip off from @slobberchops as to the site owners attitude to hive. I had no clue what was going on.
So I did my own research and came to the conclusion that posting there was hurting my Youtube channels content discovery in general.
Thankfully since I stopped posting on dtube my YouTube viewers stats have improved back to and beyond normal.
Much as we hate to admit it Google has the technology to make or break any website it likes.
I don't know what the problem is with dtube but I'm out.
I don't have time for online dramas and there is always 3Speak if I want my videos on chain.
Other than that I'll just add a YouTube link if the post requires a video on the subject.

I noticed a significant drop in my channels views when I was posting on dtube.
I was wondering what was going on? It was actually stifling my channels growth!
It's a historical thing, that goes back to the STEEM days.
I do recall a lot of strife and drama on Steem. It turned into a real shitshow and hard to keep track of the goods guys from the bad actors.
There are accounts here on hive that shit posted 10 times a day on steem and robbed the reward pool for years. They are still active on hive which surprises me?
We all know who these people are. Maybe they should be looked into again?

Appreciated. dtube is a defunct tool and a rouge curation system. It is predominantly used by abusers. We are trying our best to shut in down. In a decentralized system it is not easy. I can't ask people not to use it, I can suggest only and show leadership

Have I forgotten myself and the promises I made when I first started here? Maybe. After all, I might be one of the larger accounts in the discussion, actually colliding with spam posters. I started a while back, but I think I am really blogging for the first time right now.

Think about it, with deep fakes, shit content being the mainstream, the people who want to build themselves will have to become something else. Already happening on YouTube. The amount of rendered voices I accidentally stumble across with shitty generated backgrounds is beyond belief. Even people trying to be real content creators don't are not bothering to actually be on screen or use their own voices anymore. That way they can produce hundreds of videos in a few hours, instead of 1 video per week.
yeah man. Part of my recent purchase of older Nvidia machine learning cards was actually to play with GeneFace which is an audio to video "deepfake" technology from a team in China..
With a good speech synthesizer and enough videos to train GeneFace models on, a person possessing enough computing power can create videos that are basically imperceptible from the real thing with people they know saying whatever the hell you want.
Should be a hell of a tool to create and/or combat fake news / false narratives..!

This is interesting. Ever since starting to do videos again occasionally on Hive I've been using #3speak and only the other day remembered, oh yea, it used to be dtube I used. So, it sounds like @3speak is the better choice I assume?

DTube was the thing that made me meet HIVE, but I haven't checked it for years. I also don't find posting a video, which has only 7 days rewards life, reasonable.
I relate to your frustration. I make animations which are very time consuming and require a lot of work. At the end the day, they're just another video in a sea of content.
Same happens in all platforms. I'm new to Hive, give me a follow in 3speak, my next animation will be epic!

Oh, so that's not only me. I tried the platform a few weeks ago and I ended up uploading the game first to Youtube than cross-posting on dTube as it was impossible to make their native file upload to work.

Sadly curtations like this are happening on many topics, not just Dtube. Maybe there should be more curators and fewer auto-curations via list.
I think 3Speak was always better than dTube. I never saw any quality content on dTube anyway

There isn't an auto-curation there, there is a originaldtubers list that won't automatically transform to an upvote for each post of those users, we have a manual curation team that is hand-picking videos, tagging them and upvoting them, the list will only allow to get bigger upvotes on avalon (our chain) from dtube account, and you can be curated also without being in that list. Anyway there are also users that actively downvotes spam videos to blur them. In the past were more of those users, and yeah, we have a pretty big spam problem on dtube, but we're slowly working on it.
Also, hopefully free IPFS uploads are coming back, as I'm working on it for almost 2 weeks every free moment I had, and no, I owe you no explanation on how I spend my dev time.

What's the problem with that? Heim also left us more than 1 year ago, coming each few months and then disappearing again. He owns the domain, a few other things like bridges contract addresses. But he is more out from us than with us (as he's most of the time absent).

I guess there you're talking about hive accounts there, what's wrong with that (remember that we have different websites, and checking all at once is hard, that's not for everyone to check more than 2 or 3 social websites much often, we have also an outside live, I wouldn't ever find this post if someone didn't post it to our discord)? You want to damage a whole community for an old founder that left us a while ago as explained above and also in @techcoderx post and still have access and uses dtube's hive account?
Also, after they earn it, they are free to do what they want with that money, aren't they? Should they stake blindlessly? Also, I would like to see numbers and stats with account names proving that point. I'm not saying it isn't true, but I cannot say it's true without seeing it with my eyes.

Anyway, I would prefer a platfrom full of spam, than one full of toxicity like your post, and your comments are worse, but those are my preferences, everyone has it's own.

I've not seen too many of these, perhaps based on who I follow here, a select few. Totally agree though, what's the point of just milking the system or barely engaging. The true value of Hive is to engage in a deeper way and then you really get the enjoyment out of it!

I appreciate this post like you have no idea. With the fall of NFT's games by mindless farmers I was fearing the same might happen to this blockchain. But what I am wondering is, can we do something about it? Because it seems to me that steps to follow are downvoting or ignoring, but they will still cash out without honoring any HP. What can we do to preserve the pool for real effort contributions?

There is a Spanish speaking dtube community that reviewed my content, it wasn't spam my content, why didn't they leave me a comment or a warning? I even tried to talk to @slobberchops, but he never responded and kept on giving downvote, how sad that they prefer to take action on their own and not integrate one.... They would have given me in a comment this post, they would have responded or warned me don't you think? I had no problem going to 3speak and even had it planned, but happy night and do things better next time, remember we are supposed to be a community.
