Autumn + Sunday + Faith + the G-dog = A kick-ass day!

in OCD5 years ago

Today my wife Faith and I decided a walk at the beach would do us some good. It was a beautiful day after all, 21°C and sunny, and simply begging to be enjoyed. There she is above rocking the denim jacket.

We headed to the beach, not too far from where we live, and simply started walking...And walking...And walking...Three hours of it actually. It was pretty perfect I have to say. There were people everywhere but they didn't trouble us and I guess they were simply out and about doing exactly what we were doing...I can't blame them really as the weather was glorious.

I took my camera today, usually I forget it; I was quite proud of myself for remembering it but...No sooner had we arrived at the seaside I realised I'd put the wrong lens on like a dumb ass. So all of these shots were taken with the 25mm fixed-lens that, whilst is good for portraits isn't the one I wanted today...Oh well, I never suggested for a second that I'm not a dum-ass; This proves I am, beyond doubt.

older brother who is not on hive.)We headed off with the sun at our backs chatting away, mostly about family stuff as there's a bit going on with my ailing dad who is really not going so well and one of my brothers who has had one of those momentous life-speed-bumps get in his way, (not @tarazkp, my

There's been a lot of development in this area and the esplanade walkway has changed over the years; It used to be no more than a footpath but now there's playgrounds, picnic areas, boardwalks, sculptures observation decks and all sorts of community spaces for people to enjoy.

The day wasn't really warm enough to go into the water although a few did. Most were walking along the sand with their dogs, families, friends or partners though. We stood and watched this exuberant fella (the dog) go a little crazy in and out of the water. You can see his owner, the chap in the dark pants struggling to keep up...He didn't manage it.

We planned to get to one of the little cafe precincts just near the jetty you see in the pictures and have some lunch and about an hour after starting out we arrived ready for a cool beverage and something to eat.

All the cafés are open, or mostly anyway, although they are limited to take-away and no more than 10 people sitting in an outside area. That was cool by us as we wanted to enjoy the day, and beach, so grabbed some chow and went back to the beach sitting on some rocks (below) and ate our lunch.

I had a crispy bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheddar cheese and mayo baguette and Faith had a smoked salmon, smashed avocado and feta cheese open sandwich on toasted rye. There's no pictures as we're not big on photographing food...We generally just eat it.

We shared a small lemon baked cheesecake as well. It was a pretty legit lunch, with the sounds of the small waves breaking on the shore providing the soundtrack.

After lunch we strolled up the jetty to have a sneaky peak to see if the jetty-anglers were catching anything...Judging by what we saw there's a few people going hungry tonight, that's if they were relying on their catch any way. Still, they were having fun so good on them right?

I grabbed this shot below from the jetty also. It shows a part of the beach and the few who were braving the water which would have been reasonably cool. The clouds in the distance were the only ones in the sky which was cool, although clouds do make for nice photos right? Oh well, there'll be plenty of those in the next coming months. You can see the yellow lifeguard tower on the left of shot, closed at this time of year of course.

We started the walk back from here grabbing some snaps along the way, a couple of which are below. Again, I didn't really have the right lens, and I'm a terrible photographer anyway, so they are what they are.

These were some flowers that were scratching out a living between the rocks; They were quite tiny but I liked the contrast of yellow and green against the ocean and sky which is what I tried to capture.

This is an iron pelican, there's actually three of these there, you can see the back of the second to the left and the third sits on a pole about 8 feet hight. They're pretty big and kind of cool, all welded together with a rusty patina; Worth photo I guess right?

We had a great day, pretty-much doing nothing at all, but enjoying each other's company and the weather. Of course, getting a little exercise is good too, although maybe the cheese cake negates the exercise? We only had half each though...Ok, I had a little more than half. Ok, I had a three quarters...Ok, damn you...Faith had one bite and I ate the rest! Lol.

We live for days like this and fortunately Adelaide autumns, and indeed winters, are quite mild and we often enjoy blue-sky days like this...It's a pretty nice place to live and we make the most of it, like today.

I hope you guys are all enjoying your respective Sundays, or will when the day arrives, and that you get after something that makes your heart sing, puts a smile on your face and inspires you to get out and live the best version of your life today.

Later y'all.

Oh damn, you're in Adelaide? Didn't realise that! Spent a day or two there last year and went up Mount Lofty but the skies were decidedly greyer than they are in your pictures from today!

I heard the views are pretty decent at the top though, we could only see about 10 metres, if that!

Haha, I know you've been to Mt Lofty because you described it perfectly on a cloudy day...10 metres is about it! Lol.

Yeah, Adelaide. I love it as it's quiet, easy to get around on the roads and we have mountains and coast all very close. It's a nice place to live...Not too costly like Melbourne and Sydney and far less busy. You planning to come back sometime?

Haha well there was great food at the cafe at the top so every cloud...

I'd love to come back to that part of the world. I got lucky with last year's travels around Aus and NZ as the weather on the whole was good to me for that 3 months. I missed the volcanic eruption off the North Island of NZ by a couple of weeks and the bush fires followed by this pandemic... Hope you weren't too badly affected by that?

I heard Australia is opening things up again?

We were in NZ ourselves last year, October, but the South island which we loved!

Yeah, we had fires here, people died and property got taken but Faith and I were ok fortunately. The parents of my sisters partner lost everything they owned though, house, cars, farm vehicles, all their livestock, dogs horses...So many suffered.

Yeah I LOVED the South Island, spent about 3 weeks going to all the highlights and hiking around... I simply have to go back and, when all this pandemic is over, might see if I can get a cheeky transfer over with my company for a couple of years 😊

It was so sad to see the devastation and the scale of the fires and sorry to hear about your sister's partner's parents. I hope they are managing to rebuild

We hose the south island because it is less populated, only about 25% of the entire NZ population live there. So nice. We'll go back.

Yeah, thanks mate, they are rebuilding. Slow going.

Yeah if you go during shoulder season (Spring or Autumn) it's a lot more peaceful, can imagine peak season would be a nightmare with so many "pesky tourists" 😁

Can recommend another book for you - "New Zealand's Best Trips" by Lonely Planet. I stitched a few of those trips together to make my own and ended up driving about 3,500km and hiked every day in about 9 days... you might want something a little more chilled I'd imagine!

Beautiful outdoor over there I can litterarily give anything to be out there on the coast. I love the coast compared to the inland.

Those pictures are beautifully captured.

Thanks mate, yes it's a pretty sweet spot. Australia is full of places like this...So much coastline...We prefer more secluded spots, less people and all, but this was kind of nice today, a really cosmopolitan sort of feel, people all happy and enjoying the freedom and weather. We had a great time for sure. Thanks for the compliment on the photos...I'm not very good at photography really, I just point and shoot mainly. Lol.

Lol neither am I good at photography but I guess Hive is creating the best out of us to improve daily

Yes, seeking the best version of ourselves daily is the way to go. To be honest I'd love to be great and taking photos but not badly enough to invest the time to learn about it. I am constantly amazed at some of the shots people take here but I really only take photos to document the moment and for hive blogs so seeking greatness isn't really on my radar.

Sounds like a lovely day, and yeah, fuck taking photographs of food 😄. So @tarazkp is your brother, that's dope and it seems like good writing runs in the family. My brother's also on hive, he's @ebingo while my sister is @young-boss-karin. You know that they say, a family that hodls together, stays together. Okay nobody says that.

Haha, yeah I was wondering if you'd see this post and that food-photo comment was for you! No photos, I just smashed it down! Lol

Yeah, he is my brother...I think yours follows me and I've voted on him a few times. Your sister too? I'll have a look at her blog.

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. Have a great Sunday huh?

I'll try to enjoy my day. I'm going to learn how to ride a motorcycle today and if I don't fall too many times, I might even upload a video 😄. My neighbour got one recently and it's something that I've always wanted to try.

Oh cool, I ride motorbikes! It's not that hard really, just working out what thing to do and when, coordinating it all, balancing and stuff...Take your time with it and you'll be fine. Good luck, and yes, do a post on it.

Thanks Uncle G, have a great day ahead of you.

Look at the brightness, look at the flowers, everything is perfect. You should be thankful everyday for where you are, not everyone is opportuned to be where you are. Enjoy!

Yes, it is nice. I am grateful for where I live, Australia is the best country in the world! Thanks for your comment, and for skimming the photos in my post.

Wow looks like awesome weather to be out and about and glad it was a most enjoyable day. Hope Grouchy doesn't see these photos he might get pissed off you didn't take him. Unless he got up to mischief at home and had his own fun🤣

It was a really nice day man, such great weather!

The little green bastard was with us...He's still in trouble for taking my comp truck to the billabong so he spent most of the time in my pocket. Lol.

P5170091.jpeg

Fair enough and he has a very cheeky looking grin what's he been up to 🤣

Trouble as usual for sure.

Beautiful pictures and I must also say, your wife is really pretty.

Thank you for commenting on my pictures. And yes, she is...After 33 years together as a couple i still think so. I'm a very lucky person to have her as my wife...I have no clue why she stays around and puts up with me. Lol.

Awwww, that's so beautiful. You guys look so young.

what a lovely atmosphere there. amazingly captured photographs thanks for sharing it. ☺

Hi, thanks for your comment and taking the time to check out my post. I appreciate it.

The perfect type of weather in my opinion. 21°C, sunny and blue, and you have some great shots in here. I don't know for what the other lens were supposed to be but I like the ones you took with the lens you had at hand. I guess you forgot the macro ones 😁, and I see there plenty of subjects for some macro shoots. Although I like that pelican my fav one would be the fourth. Have a great Sunday!

Thanks mate...I appreciate you saying so. Was a really nice day for sure.

Nah, didn't have my macro but the zoom might have come in handy; Boats on the water, people at a distance and all...oh well. They came out ok. Have a good Sunday.

If I showed these pics to the missus she would kill me for not wanting to leave Scotland and live elsewhere and then she would drag my murdered body onto a plane and go and live there anyway.

Haha, Mrs Boom would be welcome here for sure...Ok, you can come too...Dead or otherwise. I can't overstate how good this country is man. Sure, we have problems, but days like today make up for the small issues we have. Pack your bags lad!

I bloody wish man, I showed her them anyway, even at the risk of being murdurt and she was blown away. I also got to do my best Aussie impression whilst reading out the first para, the humour of which probably saved my life ;O)

Glad you're not murdered, being so could be problematic for your future...Better send me your hive keys though, just in case it happens in your sleep. 😝

Glad she liked them and by the way...I need to see a video of you doing your Aussie accent. This must happen most urgently. 😊

Hahaha, of the two things both are possible!

Active key - 5PdrGETj8wIT7963UPDRh612YOUxh6LOL

video soon 😁

Lol.

The funny thing is that probably is someone's key!

I was imaging someone getting their hopes up and plugging it in!

Looks like a cracker!

All that's missing is a few shot of you in your Speedo's :D

Well, I took them mate, but you know, I'm modest, and don't want to make anyone feel inadequate. 🤣

Bloody pearler of a day man...I needed a good one after Faith made me watch that movie Grease last night. She's got a craft show on now... Goddamn it! I wanna watch Blackhawk Down! Lol...Or anything else at all. 😁

Fair enough :)

I'm sure the water would have made most feel a bit more inadequate than usual.

Grease and craft shows, I'd be at my wits end!

You don't even know. it's an annoying American one too. The worst thing is...She doesn't even do crafts! I'm like, what the actual fuck!?

The cheese cake part was funny ngl.

Lol, yeah...She actually didn't want any...I made her have some so I didn't feel like a total pig. It worked, even though it was a small bite...More of a nibble really. 😉

😂😂 fairs

You two had so much fun there. Thanks for sharing the experience sir @galenkp

Yes, it's a nice spot and close to where we live so pretty easy to get to. Thanks for taking a look at my post. I appreciate it.

It seems like a perfect outing, you might have had great time.

I miss going out because of the lock done in India. It's been 2 full months and we had not travelled anywhere only till the grocery store.

It was a nice day for sure.

We haven't been as affected by the flu as some other countries, I'm sure there's a reason for that, but I don't know it. We're coming out of lockdown although it wasn't all that strict so we were fortunate. Thanks for commenting. I hope you are well and have a great week ahead.

Looks such a beautiful day to enjoy around i still miss going to beach around but you seem to be making the most out of it have a nice day :)

When was the last time you went to the beach?

Wow what an awesome day! So glad you brought your camera even though I would have enjoyed seeing the food too! Sounds delicious!

It was pretty good for sure...I'll be honest, it was a going to be a bit awkward to photograph the food due to the location...No table etc. As we were perched on some rocks. Besides, we tucked in before thinking about taking photos. 🙂

Yeah I bet! Glad you guys had such a beautiful weekend! We did too. Lots of quality time as always. Back to the grind!

Weekends are the best! My week hasn't started so well, see last post, but it is what it is. I'm alive, have a roof over my head and Faith is cooking something to eat...Life isn't too bad despite bad things happening at times.

Have a good week, I'm sure I'll see you around.

Lucky you allowed out and about. I hope we can in the next few weeks art some point as this is no fun and wearing a little thin. Many times I was going to photograph some food for a post and thought nah as it was too late considering every time I was half way through it already. Enjoy the rest of the day or what is left of it considering you are many hours ahead of us here.

We were lucky here that the lockdown thing wasn't too strict. We had similar restrictions to other places but were able to move about a little. We haven't minded too much as we like spending time away from other people so it works for us. Yesterday was good though, despite their being people everywhere. Nice to get out for a walk.

I often do the same thing...Get half way through some awesome food and then think, I should have taken a photo for hive. Oh well, there's always next time.

If the lens you didn’t want took these perfect pictures, I can’t help but wonder what you would have done with the lens you actually wanted to take out with you. Thank you for sharing your experience.

The lens I wanted had a zoom capability which meant I would have been able to capture some of the boats on the water and people at a distance which would have given me a different aspect. It doesn't matter though, they still came out ok. Thanks for looking and commenting back.

You are welcome

The photographs dazzle the beauty of the place, excellent shots indeed.
An exquisite lunch well deserved after a three hour walk, and the inevitable dessert. What a treat. Lemon cheese cake. Congratulations on the splendid day you have spent. What a beautiful place where you live dear friend @galenkp

PS many people are seen walking, here in my province of Corrientes Argentina the streets are a desert

It was a nice day to get out and have a walk around and a pretty decent spot to go. There were quite a lot of people but it didn't bother us too much. We just did our own thing and had a great time. Thanks for taking a look and commenting back. Much appreciated.

Very nicely written

Thank you.

What a beautiful beach! I think you could have blamed the pelikan for eating the cheesecake😂 Those birds eat anything😂

Yeah, pelican's aren't fussy with what they eat huh? You have them there too?

At the sea we do have them. We have a place here The Danube Delta. Is amazing and I plan to visit it one day. It is one of a kind in the whole Europe

Ohh yeah, I just googled it...Looks amazing! Now I want to go there and see it for myself. Maybe one day when COVID-19 isn't messing everything up!

I hope you're well and your week started off that way too. :)

Covid will pass, my week started amazing and I plan to keep it that way, hope it is the same for you😊

We are 90 miles / 144k from each coast (Atlantic / Gulf of Mexico)

Do You ever worry about Typhoons. It is coming into hurricane season here. We always have to be prepared for that.

Great Fo-Toes. What an awesome area ya'll live in. I zoomed in and saw your house on the hillside...lol

We don't have typhoons here in South Australia but in the northern parts of Australia they have cyclones (hurricanes) which can be devastating. Oh yeah, that's my place with the red roof. Lol

I like it! Nice story connection to your images... I really miss the walking side of the beach... Wishing to experience again next week! I hope in God's will...

Hopefully you get to walk around the beach next week! Do you have one close to you?

Yes! But we are not allowed due to this situation of COVID... Or else we will have a fine of 50,000 Dirhams in Dollar is worths 13,612.85 USD! Very sad but it is true...

Ha ok, I see. Where are you? What country?

We are here right now in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi... The Middle East!

Ah ok, yes I know it. I've flown over it a few times. Never been there. Looks sandy.

Yeahhh Sandy... Soft sandy brown... (^_^)
