David Luiz's Woeful Performance For Arsenal Continues; What Now For The Brazilian Defender?

David Luiz has come under fire once more for being poor against Manchester City after the EPL resumed again after four months. He was responsible for fouling Riyad Mahrez and making a mistake that resulted in the first goal scored by Raheem Sterling and capped a frustrating evening by being sent off in the 49th minute. About last season David Luiz forced a move from Chelsea to Arsenal when Frank Lampard became coach and if you ask me I'll say David Luiz is not really the problem with Arsenal, he was a beast with Chelsea although not without the occasional erratic football behaviour.

I do believe the whole Arsenal set up is incredibly unfit to compete in games. Firstly players like Mustafi and Xhaka do not really need to be on the team anymore. Aubamayang is not totally commited, Nicholas Pepe is not really doing well and the team itself lacks the motivation to fight in games psychologically. The main reason why Arsenal fans fail to focus on the fact that Arsenal has huge problems is because David Luiz is the available scapegoat. Mind you, I'm not letting David Luiz off the hook and I'm extensively going to explain this.

David Luiz is a player who relies on better defenders to do well himself At Chelsea he had Gary Cahill, Ivanovich, Alonso and the likes, then at PSG he played with the likes of marquinhos and Thiago Silva and with all due respect none of Arsenal defenders are on the same level with the defenders stated above. David Luiz is not really a complete central defender. He's not the no-sense type of defender that you can rely on to give you a perfect tackle, a goal line clearance or a breathtaking stop. He's more of the player who gets you that audacious free kick, who drives the defence to attack and add that extra attacking bite from defence but he would only do this playing against good defenders.

David Luiz however overestimated his abilities to do well outside Chelsea and this of course became a downside to his dwindling career. He of course left for 50 million pounds and went to PSG that was building a great team attack wise and he was a decent player in his first stinct at Chelsea. Truth is, his flaws are being overexposed because he's playing with mediocre defenders at Arsenal and this is the problem Mikel Arteta might never solve soon which means he either fields Luiz or he doesn't. At Chelsea he was occasionally known for the blunders but you can't underrate the fact that he's a leader in the dressing room he's that player that never disappoints in a final game that matters.

In conclusion; I won't cut David Luiz any slack because he's been lazy and well more focused on his ego rather than developing himself as a footballer. He's old that's another thing. Currently 33 he's almost at the retirement stage and he shouldn't have left Chelsea at 33 to look for a new challenge like he termed it but we both know Frank Lampard is the reason why David Luiz left Chelsea. Needless to say, Arsenal can't get rid of him now until his contract is over and he can't be completely benched because he was promised playing time.

Way over rated and doesn't offer the basics of defending. I thought Arsenal were mad to sign him and are better off not having him at all. He is one player who has had a lucky career and relied on others around him. His time is up for sure and don't expect to see him having much game time moving forward. Rather off load him for a loss and call it a day.

Well Arsenal didn't really analyse him as a player before signing him. I believe he's been a lucky player myself and mostly erratic and mistake prone I believe he'll be sold soon at least in the coming transfer market to maybe the Brazilian league or something.
