Squirrel tricks and others!

The only one of the family that loves Avocados!

We have a family of squirrels here as some of you know by now. Mother "Squirry" and her 5 children. A car or a predator must have gotten "Scarface", the father, as he is no longer around.
We still have gloomy weather here and the rain is due to start soon again, but I wanted to show you some pictures of our day!
Come and have a look!

I think that we will name him "Hawaii", as he lives alone up in the palm tree and he likes nutritious avocados!

IMG_0123.JPG

Turns his back to me when I come closer to protect his avo lol.

Here we have a lady Sunbird on an outing to do some nectar shopping!

IMG_0092.JPG

While her husband the Red-collared Sunbird sits whistling to call his friends!

IMG_0082.JPG

Here's another of the squirrels about to bury a nut!
We are growing peanut plants all over the place!

Ah! That mountain peak surely continues to offer a beautiful sight, even in the wet and the cold!

Finally just to show you one of the interesting artworks by the winds as they play with the clouds at sunset.
Looks like a painting to me!

And That's it for now folks!

Between the Covid, weather and the bad economy it seems that most of us are facing some severe battles. There are many of us that have very little savings and also some that have no savings. Yet we have always survived and we will hopefully do so even amongst these conditions.
One of the good things that our struggles gift us with is the ability to fight, oh and also to endure.

That means we don't sit down and cry, but we rather roll up our sleeves and we say "bring it on". Yes, we have become very good "plan" makers and of course we see it through. All that it takes is to light that little rebel flame within.
At the charity we work with, many have given up all hope and we try our level best to get them going again; but this is the thing, if one has lost all hope one has nothing.

Yes, we have managed to get some going again, but the danger of losing hope is that it brings with it its cousin called Lethargy, which is just a fancy name for laziness. There are many that cannot be helped, simply because the don't want to help themselves. They will always be charity cases. If you don't know how, ask and if the drive is in you, the answer will be given!
Think about it!

We hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and thank you for visiting a post by @papilloncharity

"Squirrels don't eat avocados..." - @smallsteps

She said that?
Well some squirrels even nibble at small girls toys.

She has only just started being able to eat avocado herself - but she would likely donate one of her toys to feed a hungry squirrel :D

Sounds like a real little precious!

That is fine great sunset!!

A good day then? We saw a few squirrels today in the woods. They had nothing as good as avocado though!!

A good day indeed. Icy cold but thankfully no rain.
Raining now again here though, but it's good as we need the water.

Maybe you can get them to eat avocados :)

Here's a short video for you of Marian with "squirry".
"Squirry" is the mother of the 5 hooligans.

Show this to your kids!

Ha, this is awesome. I will take them it. They will be blown away and want the same with the squirrels we see in the garden!!

Just beware my friend, squirrels bite. It is a very gradual friendship to form that takes patience and many nuts lol.

I don't doubt it. The ones here are quite shut shy, then again for nuts who knows!!

Yeah, they absolutely like raw peanuts in the shell.
When you see them often in one area, it means there's either food or their territory.
Find an open spot and drop a few nuts there.
If the nuts are gone the next day then drop a few more and so on.

They are intelligent and will start associating you with the nuts.
Soon they will regard you as no danger to them and that's when the fun starts.

I think we will try it, there agree a couple nearby and one that visits our garden. Will try there first, although I suspect the bloody wood pigeons will be on the nuts first. We have loads of the buggers, then and crows!

Sorry that you are also experiencing hard battles. I think I am going through one of the toughest times of my life, financially speaking. That is why I am writing this comment at 3h36am. Can't sleep due to tummy ache... Thinking I might be developing an ulcer.
Luckily there is always a But God....
But God is good. He will provide and yes I will fight.... Ora et Labora.... Pray and work.
Hope better times is on the way.
God bless.

And I say back to you, A Luta Continua, the battle continues.
Worries and stress are terrible things to the body my friend.
What will be will be and yes, we are not alone as God can read this as I type it.
Hope that you get sorted out soon.
All of the best to you.
Blessings!

Thank you for your kind words. 🤗Blessings.

Just remember that you and I are fighters my dear.
Souls of light and not of darkness.
We will pray for you!

If everyone was as friendly as you Liz, this world would be a better place 😃

The squirrel is so fluffyy!! I think the avocado diet does wonders for the fur🥑😂

We are so amazed that he is the only one that eats the Avo.
Obviously his sisters and his other brother don't know what is good for them lol.
Marian's aunt told us that she gives the squirrels there avo skins and so we tried it here.
Better than throwing the skins away onto the compost heap.

Blessings and thank you for the visit!

Very interesting! It was my pleasure to read this! Have a lovely day!

And may your days also be good Lady Mary!

Thank you, that's nice of you😊

Expensive taste for a squirrel, very nourishing indeed, she will need that with the cold weather.

Such beautiful birds visiting, have not seen many of late, sure to be around playing hide and seek with me again.

Have a great day!

Easy to feed him avo, as we eat it almost every day Lady Joan.
Marian doesn't scrape the skin out and leaves a bit in it.

I stood outside today talking to an 80 year old lady, still full of life that lives here.
We heard an approaching commotion over head and as I looked up, the Harrier Hawk was fighting in flight with an Egyptian goose.
Of course I grabbed and lifted my camera but guess what.
Yes, it wasn't switched on!

Now you know the SX60 is not fond of quick snap shots, as firstly it takes a few seconds to switch on, then a few seconds for the settings and then a few seconds to extend the zoom and another few seconds to focus and...…!
At least I got a shot of the top of a tree lol.
Such is life my friend.

We had a nice cold and clear day today. Went to the river for some shots and will go again tomorrow if I get a gap.

Blessings to you guys!

Hi - have not seen you for a while - is Squirry hibernating in this cold?

We travel in time capsules here my friend.
No, the squirrels don't hibernate here. I thought that they do, but no, they only eat more and get fatter :)
Stay well my friend!

Sounds like me hahahaha
