Let's Make A Collage #101 - The Legend of the Wand in the Stone

Wow! It's been 5 weeks since I created a collage for LMAC! Time really flies when you're busy! 😅

I usually start out my collages by browsing the LIL Website and just kit-bashing a bunch of stuff (loading tons of pictures into my project) until I feel like I have a good amount of objects everywhere. I'll get everything positioned where I want, and then I'll start taking things away that don't really feel like they belong.

I really liked the rocks and water from @seckorama and I knew I needed to put that into it. The rocks around the top of the image and the grass from the template image blended incredibly easily. I was really surprised!

Then I found the dark mineral from @flowermari and thought that would be really fun to stick out of the water! But maybe something special should be sticking out of it?

I was originally going to go for a Sword In The Stone feel, but I couldn't find any swords on the LIL besides the one I had made. Then, after seeing @quantumg's wizard wand, I liked that idea better. Especially since I really try to avoid using my own assets if I can.

I really feel like it adds a bit of fantasy and magic to the scene! I tried making it glow a bit more and added a lens flare, but I couldn't get it looking how I wanted. Oh well, I think it gets the point across.

Enjoy!

This is such a wonderful example of lateral thinking (as you describe your process). You put all the elements in front of you and respond to what you see, almost intuitively. Then of course you use technical aspects of design to make an outstanding, spectacular collage.

It really works. I tend to be a lateral thinker more now as I grow older. There is freedom in that.

Good luck this week!

Thank you! I’m glad you like it! The process is definitely a lot of fun. I look forward to doing it every week, as it’s a nice relaxing distraction from the week. I’ve been kind of bummed out the last month because I keep missing it haha. Glad I was able to make time for it this week!

excelente composion muy campestre y natural

Thank you!

A great work, in this place I would like to be now. 😎

Thank you! It does seem like quite a magical place 🤩

@donroberts, your collage is very nice, it transmits peace and tranquility.

Thank you! I love that style of concept art. Open landscapes and magical places. Glad you liked it!

What a fantastic mystical place you have created. I like how my wand is stuck in the stone like Excalibur.I don't think any wand ever had this luck before. :-D
It is a great scene and technically very well implemented!

Good luck. :-)

Thank you! I was very relieved when I saw your magic wand! I had to give it the special treatment! 😂 glad you liked it!
