The Years Keep Counting...

I can still remember when I heard the news of his demise...I was thrown aback and torn into shreds within my heart. Sometimes I wonder why the good people go quickly and the evil people live longer. Sometimes I console myself with the fact that they are saved from the wickedness of this world because they were too good.

I wrote this poem I think last year or two years ago for this wonderful man we all call "Baba Ijo". He was a resilient, dedicated and hardworking man. He was everywhere. He never shied from anything. Anything to advance the gospel of Christ, he was at the foremost of it. He spoke with so much calmness. He knew how to win you over with words and let you listen to his words while patiently listening to you and diffussing any anger or reservations that you have.

Here it is...enjoy it... Those words still ring through every year.

It's a year already and it's hard to forget your influence
Even as tears filled many eyes I still don't want to cry the substance
It's hard to come to terms with your demise
It hits everyone so hard and it's one unpleasant surprise
I didn't want to say goodbye because I don't want to believe you are gone
Oh... You touched most hearts, see how hearts are torn
A thousand words to console still won't break through this heavy heart
With eyes filled with tears, I wish they are enough to bring you back to earth
I would say, "No more tears" because you didn't die, you simply made a transition
This is you leaving the familiar behind to embrace another location
We don't want it but what can we do to change this situation?
Your smile and kind words broke through, regardless of the duration
I feel your sojourn here was short but your impact will outlive your existence
It's hard to say goodbye knowing that's the end of the chapter
But alive you are in many hearts, including mine
Your words replay in my head...polished after the similitude of the gold
Constantly refiring and always revered... precious and priceless
Rest on...heaven just recalled another angel home, no tears

Thank you for your time.

My pen doesn't bleed, it speaks, with speed and ease.

Still me,

My tongue is like the pen of a ready writer.

It baffles me why good people really don't stay here longer because I can count great men who have passed away unexpectedly.

To comfort myself, I always said God wants them to enjoy more in his paradise but it hurts to see them go all of a sudden. I am touched as I read through the poem and I pray that his soul continues to rest in the right hand of the Lord.

This is a reminder to everyone, no one knows when the time will be. Now is the time to walk with Christ, accept him as your lord and savior because we don't know how long we have here.

It always hurt to see them go. God saved them from the corruption of this world. God called his army home to avoid the corruption of this world. It's painful but God knows better.

That's right, the world isn't getting any better and the end time prophecies are happening already. Baba Ijo is watching from above and one day, we will all reunite in love greater than what we shared in the world.

That's it. He is in a better place.. watching from Heaven. His job is done and it's left to us to make our own impact too.

God called His army home and that's very correct. That's a good way to see it and I love that. God's will will always trump ours. God knows what He is doing and why.

Very true and this is absolutely spot on, my brother. Indeed we don't know how long we have here and we should be more concerned about where we end up which determines how well we live in the NOW.

Very true...God wants them more than earth does.

Our work here determines our destination when we are done here. It's important we should right the things we choose to do while we are here.

We have a purpose and we have to live according to that purpose so we can influence the world around us too. Thank you, brother.

It is very sad when such people leave the world because they have worked very hard and made a name for themselves and these people also help the world a lot so it is a very good thing. He was a very famous person. I also read about him. So sad is the people who loved him.

Yes, I am glad you have read about him and known a bit about him too. That's one thing about people who live for others and Christ, we talk about them glowingly.

Yeah I totally agree with you.

I know this man. He was a wonderful person from my little encounter with him. He was lovely, lively, funny and very intentional. You described him very well. A great loss to the body of Christ but Heaven's gain. God knows best.

It's great that you have beautiful testimonies about him as well. No doubt, he was indeed a great man.

Absolutely, he was. We thank God for the opportunity of having him when we did and the lessons he impacted. Thanks a lot, brother.

You also described him so well. That was him for you. Never a dull moment with anyone. He knew how to uplift anyone's mood and spirit. He was a special gift.

This is a beautiful tribute to "Baba Ijo," and I must say, it's a real tear-jerker. I can imagine how hard it is to say goodbye to such a wonderful person.

But we do not need to be too sad, after all, Baba Ijo is just transitioning to another location, where he'll be surrounded by angels and good vibes. And who knows, maybe he'll even get to meet some of his favorite saints.

I also love how you mentioned his resilience, dedication, and hard work. It's clear that he was a true inspiration to everyone around him. And let's not forget his kind words and smile, which could light up even the darkest of rooms

So, let's raise a glass to Baba Ijo and his incredible life. Here's to his memory, and to the many hearts he touched along the way. Cheers

I believe that he is in a better places... He has touched many lives here and those are testimonies to his existence in the presence of the most high God.

That's the consolation. That's the thing that makes it less painful, knowing he is in a better place. Thanks for this, brother.

You couldn't have said this in a more better way, my friend. This is absolutely beautiful to read and so comforting too. He was a special person...a good Christian too. He simply transitioned as you have said and in a better place. To God be the Glory. Thank you very much, my friend. Love this.

When such people pass away from the world, there is a lot of trouble for those people who are having a good life because of these good people, they have to face a lot of trouble later because it is People who are poor people used to help people a lot and used to bring good looks on people's faces.

Helping people doesn't have to even be about the money. When you are a wonderful person, you are a wonderful person regardless of money or not. That's what we should strive to attain.

Yeah you are right.

I think this is the law of nature, God doesn't want the Good people to suffer more, that is why they die early. It's just my assumtion, i could be wrong.

It's a good way to think about it and that's a good angle. That's what I console myself with as well. God took them ahead of the evil days. Their death is more like a protection kind of.

yes agree with you sir.

Beautiful poem, it is impossible not to be moved as you read it, for what you express he was a great man of values and willing to help anyone who needs it, also you are usually right in what you say that good people leave before their time but it is God's decision and not ours, what will always endure will be his teachings and all the time lived with him, great tribute friend, happy weekend ♥

We judge God faithful. God knows best and as you have rightly said, it is God's decision and we can't question God.

Thank you very much, my friend. Deeply appreciate this.

Everything is under God's will, he always works in many ways that we at first do not understand but that will always be for our good, when a loved one goes ahead of us we just have to remember those teachings and apply them to others to maintain their legacy ♥

His ways are mysterious. We can't understand His ways and because we judge Him faithful, we have to trust His ways and then believe His plans. Very true.

From your description and the poem you have shared, Baba Ijo was a good man when he was alive. He is in a better position wherever he is and I pray his lifestyle when he was alive continue to inspire people.

Amen...I love that. His life that he lived was inspiring and that's what birthed this poetry. He was indeed a good man and I pray the family he left behind will be continually helped by God. Amen.

Amen to your prayers, I am sure he watching us from a beautiful place to there.

Absolutely...I believe he is too. Until we meet to part no more...we have a duty to make sure we also finish our race well.

Sometimes in life, it's not what we wish for that happens. God knows the best and he already has a plan for everyone.
It's so touching and painful that Baba Ijo left us, but we can't question God he knows the best. Continue t⁶o rest on Baba Ijo.

Very true. It's not what we want but what God wants and it's painful for us but it is Heaven's gain. We thank God for his life and all he left behind with the impacts he had too.

I think the same thing, I mean, good people leave faster so that the evil of other people in this world does not harm them, but understanding what you feel, death is something that is never overcome, you learn to live with the absence of loved ones, I for example will never get over the death of my mother, but I must let her destiny follow, live with her lack, there is nothing else to do.
A hug

I have lost a sister before now...followed by my dad and then mum. I can relate to how painful it can be. We don't always understand why but God knows best. Their journey has ended and their purpose achieved. I am so sorry about your mum too. She's in a better place where pain doesn't exist. A big hug to you too.

What a touching and heartfelt tribute to Baba ijo which I strongly believe he will be pleased even reading this. I strongly believe he lives a life of impact and no doubt that no doubt that wherever he is now, he is actually having his rest. He is in a better place. That must have been a great loss and for him to be celebrated like this, he lived a life of impact and growth to people life and destiny and this is actually one of the things we should strive to do in people's life

He surely lived a life of impact and he influenced the world around him the little way he can. He did his part. Fulfilled his purpose and we thank God for the grace of having him when we did.

Very well. He lived a life of impact and I strongly believe many of us can actually learn from that and be more concerned in impacting people's life instead of self. Thank God he fulfilled purposes and I am so sure wherever he is now, is a better place to be

There was a time I was looking for a job and almost all the company I got to their boss wanted to have something with me before they could give me the job, and that reminds me of my dad, if he was still alive I wouldn't have experience such and I know how much he loves to help people around him.

The first thing that came to my mind was why good people have to die young and the wicked and heartless ones stays longer.

May his soul keep resting in peace 🕊️

Thank you very much and I am so sorry about your dad. I knew how I would have scaled through so many heights faster if mine was still alive top but God knows best. He took them ahead of evil days. We are better for it and we thank God.

Thanks a lot, my darling.

I hope Baba Ijo rests in peace and I’m sure heaven will welcome him since he’s a good man and everyone knows that…

Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. He's at home and there is that rejoicing in Heaven because a faithful soldier came back home.

Thanks a lot for this.

As the days of life are going on and we all know that they are getting shorter and one day we will also leave this world, so it is better that we should live in such a way that May people benefit from us and keep helping people who need help. If we have so much money then we should help others because today the situation is very bad. Living has become much more difficult.

We don't even need money before we can touch lives and make impact. Life is short and what we do with our time is all that matters. Thanks for this.

When we are blessed with people like this who have devoted their life in helping and impacting people's life, they are always worth to be celebrated and reference. He might not be alive again but I strongly believe there is so much that his impact still tells and this is the type of life I strongly believe we can and we should actually live to bless the life's around us. This is what made life to actually makes so much sense beyond which we can ever imagine

May is wonderful soul Rest In Peace and like you said he’s not dead he just transitioned. I’m certain he’s in a better place now.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate this.

Over the years, I've heard people die and of which the thought comes to my heart -why are this good people dying and why are the evil ones refusing to die?
Surely it must be that God is saving them from this corrupted world...
May his soul continue to rest in peace
