One emergency changes everything

And we realize how grateful it is to be healthy and happy with family.

Last three days have been full of chaos with Dad being admitted in the hospital and these are the moments that makes me realize why we should be grateful to be healthy and alive. Mom always keeps an eye on him, but one small mistake and everything changed - he does not realize what is good for him and ate Dahibara aludam beyond his capacity that he could not digest. He has a very strong cravings for food (which is good), and this is not the first time he ate, but the only problem was he ate double of his capacity causing indigestion that leaded to stomach infection, fever and made him fell unconscious. For the first time we had to call the ambulance to home, because he was not in a position to be brought by even car.

Before bringing him, we did try our best, by giving him tablets, but then as things did not come into control, we decided not to take any more risk.

Admitting him in the emergency, I had to spend the entire night there, before he got shifted to a MICU. A young lady was brought dead by her relatives, after he took her life by hanging herself just because her husband told something. She has two small kids and the entire hospital was full of visitors creating more chaos. But I was silently thinking about the very moment that differentiates between life and death and why people often forget about the precious human life that has been gifted to us.

Leaving Dad in the MICU and coming back made me feel the consequence of being alone - the ambience is great, but still we don't like Hospital, isn't it ?

Can you believe this is hospital ? After taking rest for couple of hours, when I went back next morning, I was shocked to see so many people. A minimalist lifestyle and mindful living to be healthy and enjoy small joys of life is much more precious than this but unfortunately majority of the world is after all the greed.

Even by evening, the crowd was no less - people take it as granted to live by medicine may be.

For two days, dad was not even recognizing but once he got a little better, I asked the lady and the kid to visit him - it creates lot of positive impact and hope for life. These are the moments when you feel the importance of family and togetherness - the stress gets shared when life gets chaotic.

And now the fun - Dad was having the key of his box tied to his thread and they took out that and gave it to me, before taking him to ICU. As he got better, he probably realized the key missing and looked all around. When I went, he pointed to the fire alarm fitted in the ceiling and told me why do you have my key kept there ? It was looking like a key from distance and that ensured, dad is getting back to his normal....I could not stop laughing....Hopefully, we will have him shifted to a room today.

Unfortunately, such cases have been on the rise in India. Giving up life out of impulsive thoughts and extreme emotions. Take a pause, take a break from a normal, you would find it pitiful and petty after some time, and even you would laugh at yourself. Life is precious no matter how grave the situations and burdens are. Think about birds and other creatures; they dont commit suicide.

For the first time we had to call the ambulance to home, because he was not in a position to be brought by even car.

I pray for his early recovery. The good thing is that the entire family has come together with a sense of care and affection and delivered it from a position of duty and responsibility.

A minimalist lifestyle and mindful living to be healthy and enjoy small joys of life is much more precious than this but unfortunately majority of the world is after all the greed.

Seriously, I am also equally shocked by such a gathering at a hospital. We need to explore preventive measures that do not require hospitalization, except in extreme situations and conditions.

Hopefully, we will have him shifted to a room today.

I pray to Lord Jagannath for his early recovery.

Thank you.

Thank you so much.

Hope he is much better now!

Health becomes a big issue when you get unwell. Strangely enough, even overeating and indigestion can also cause health alarm (at any age, these days) .

Only the closest family members can really feel and understand it's implications. Therefore it's very important to keep a close watch, always or as best as one can, to avoid such situations.

Ironically, you cannot be strict with the parents as we can be with our children, since they feel offended. Such is life.

even overeating and indigestion can also cause health alarm (at any age

That's very correct, we even don't have digestion power like their generation, may be something related to stress.

I believe it's more to do with compromised eating habits and usually unhealthy and non-balanced diet that we all follow to a much greater extent these days, usually and above all so called junk food becoming integral part of our lives.

Therefore it's definitely going to effect and impact our digestive system to a greater extent, causing lot more other health problems and complications later on.

Over eating and junk food is a No-No for me as well, but I too easily deviate and dilute the principles.

That moment when he pointed at the “ceiling key” felt like a real turning point, you could hear the old spark coming back. Cravings are tough, and a beloved dish can make anyone forget limits. Maybe a small-bowl rule once he’s home can keep the joy without the scare. Did the doctors suggest a simple plan for portions or anything to help him pace it?

Today they did not allow to shift to room. Same hospital, two doctors have two opinions - the critical care doctor says he should not be given normal food, the gastro doctor said, he should be given normal diet. I decided to go with the gastro doctor - lets hope for the best, if he does well, we can shift him to room tomorrow.

That clash is frustrating, but trusting the gastro for diet sounds reasonable. Maybe ask them to note a clear plan in the chart and start with small portions to see how he tolerates, that keeps everyone aligned. If he eats fine and numbers stay steady, the room shift should follow. Fingers crossed for a calm night and a smooth tomorrow.

Wow that is crowded with so many people!

Glad to hear your dad is on the mend, and I hope he has learnt his lesson and knows when to stop eating so much in the future!

He will never learn, we will have to be more vigilant.

After coming to the hospital, we understand the value of maintaining good health. Any adult, regardless of his illness, likes to eat more of some foods. My father also has diabetes, but he secretly eats sugar without us knowing. We realize that it is affecting him only after the illness worsens. I express my condolences for the sudden illness of your father. May his condition improve soon. After coming to the hospital, we understand the value of maintaining good health. So sorry about what happened to your dad. Glad that he's already okay.

Good to know that he is getting better now.

The difference between life and death is a very fine line, my friend, that's why we must know how to appreciate every moment we have, so being grateful every day for breathing and seeing our loved ones is something that is priceless.

You know, my friend, I already had that same reflection over a year ago when almost the entire family spent over a month in the hospital accompanying my younger sister due to a complication with her Type II Diabetes. Her health was very complicated. We won that time, but we're always vigilant, monitoring her situation with tests every six months. The truth is, that experience helped me appreciate life much more and value every moment as if it were my last. It's only fair that I learned that life lesson by force.

"We are not untouchable; today we are, tomorrow we don't know."

This post really touched me. It’s a strong reminder of how quickly life can change and how important health and family truly are. The way you shared your experience shows the value of gratitude and being mindful even in difficult times. Wishing your father a speedy recovery and strength for your family.

Earlier this year, I needed to visit the hospital and since then, I have learnt to always value good health

I feel bad about your dad going through that. Nobody likes even going to the hospital. Hoping for quicker recovery for him.

heheehe.. where is the key?!?! :P

i wish ur dad a 100% recovery and lots of well wishes!

I sincerely hope your dad recovers properly soon, that was a terrible experience and that hospital , gosh there were so many people. Sickness is a pain, and even more painful is death and it almost seems irrissitible. It's a good thing that we have hope in a future where death and sickness will be no more and we'll all be happy as it was supposed to be.
My heart goes out to you and your dad, and it's a good thing he has you to take care of him.

health is the most important, if its lost nothing else matters.
so much stress hey, just for bad indigestion 😕

Yeah, health issues are always a tough thing. We are at the age where our parents face serious health issues and we ourselves starting to experience our own health issues and no amount of money can make those go away...

And that is why we should be grateful to enjoy small joys of life and be constrained.

Wow, that is pretty crazy. Very sad about the young lady. I hope your dad gets all recovered quickly!

Only those who have lived through the unpleasant experience of having a family member in the hospital can thank God that we are healthy, so I hope that your father recovers as soon as possible and that he can be with you again at home.

This definitely sad @sanjeevm . Health is wealth and life is very precious. I can't imagine why there are so many people wanted to take there life while others who are ill strive hard to battle against illnesses. Hays this make me so sad.

I won’t blame dad for eating double of his capacity
There are days when you may not want to follow the doctor’s advice
We thank God for life

This time is very difficult when a family member has been to the hospital, the whole routine is disrupted and the most mental tension is that the person in our family should recover quickly and return home so that life can continue with the daily routine.

Wishing your dad a full recovery. Moments like these really show how fragile life is and how important it is to appreciate family and take better care of our health.

Oh yeah, elders don't like to recognize their limits... Gladly it's all going well slowly

Hospitals in the early morning are all a chaos, i don't like it too, afternoons are way quieter

I was saddened to hear the news that your father suddenly fell ill and had to be hospitalized. It is a matter of joy that he is recovering. The feeling we feel when we are in the hospital is something that we should seriously consider. Health should be considered a noble treasure and protected.

Thank goodness that he is much better now

Health is the issue we need to pay attention to most in this life. It is pleasing that your father is regaining his old health.

So sad for the condition of your father. I pray for his quick recovery from illness. Hope he is getting better?

Yes, he is getting better.

Thank God🙏🏼
