Two firsts today! My first time to post in here and my first short drone demonstration!
We were on a sunset walk on the ocean Boulevard and I was taking photos as you will see in the pictures below.
Then we saw this guy busy packing up his drone and I asked him to give us a quick demonstration.

The next two photos below was taken with my own camera and not the drone!
Had to wait to get the leading bird spot on in the sun's white glare!
Right, here we go with my photos of the drone!
It is a Mavic 2 Pro drone and the guy was very good on the controls!
Keeping the drone steady and level facing the horizon!
Then he simply raised the drone and brought it back!
Bringing it in to sit precisely and tamely on his hand!
Yeah, it looks like a great little photography machine and maybe one day I will also get one. Especially to get the eagles on the mountain peaks.
He also explained to me how the little camera centers itself automatically.
But then again, I forgot to ask him if his drone could take a shot of the moon like this!

Amazing how photographic equipment has evolved over time.
I remember the days when people had to work in darkrooms, dip the photos in solutions and hang them up on what looked like washing lines lol.
Then Kodak developed an instant camera and all of a sudden everybody jumped onto the camera development bandwagon and the rest is history.
All for our own comfort of course!

Of course, Zac, the drone could fly right up to this huge round rock and take a close-up photo there and maybe also one of the earth 😀
I'd love to have a drone, but you are so very restricted here that you have to take care where you fly. And in the best areas you are not even allowed to fly it, unless you have a license. So I think it's best to stay on the ground or hike up to a mountain and take my shots from there 😉
I love it when birds fly in front of the setting sun - great shots, Zac 😃

Just returened from an AGM meeting and now need to catch up!
Hahaha, not in our lifetime my friend. Maybe in two or three generations, there will be a highway from earth to the moon and people will fly on it in drones!
Well, when we got home after that I Googled the Mavic 2 Pro drone prices and nearly fell off my chair. Did you see the price of those things!
There are much cheaper ones available, but I was told that thet are all rubbish.
So, no drone for me, but only my feet and my camera 🤣

I have gone early to bed yesterday - had a busy day and it will be like that for at least the next days.
I will try to be online in between as often as I can though ;)
If I would buy a drone it would certainly be a DJI, but as you say, they are expensive and I wouldn't be able to fly it whenever or wherever I want, so it's not worth the money at the moment.

Just don't overwork yourself my friend. Beware of burn out, as we have been there a few times and ir's a very unpleasant experience!
I have no idea what a DJI drone is, but will ask my mother in law, Mrs. Google.
Things are almost a car's price over here. Okay a cheap used car, but even that is too expensive 🤣

DJI is the brand and the Mavic Mini is one of their cheaper drones ;)

Hi Hannes,
I have the same problem with the replies and just run on faith that everything works.
Who knows, we might get lucky and one of our replies lands up in the biggest whale's messages. He might be so happy with it that he will give it a 100% vote!
I think both of us can do with a $1200 vote 🤣
Oh yeah I forget, your thoughts are permanently on the unmentionable people 🤣
Well if that Mavic Mini is so expensive, I think that I would rather buy another two cameras 😁

The Mavic Mini costs here from Euro 369 / USD 433, a camera would cost a bit more 🙂

BEER.Drone photography...Photos of drones. Lol, that's technology for you...Still, if things go the way they are headed birds may be extinct anyway so maybe this is the way of the future. I wonder when someone will invent a drone that looks like a bird so bird-watchers around the world can pivot their hobby. :)
A sobering thought here my friend. One of the things that we hate to see is dead bird on the beach. But then again every few steps at the rocky places one can see all kinds of plastic litter.
The day when they invent bird drones we should know that the end is near.

Yeah, I agree...However one can get robotic toy animals pitched as pets so why not birds...Maybe Mattel will come up with something to replace all the animals humankind have forced into extinction?

Yep, she's mobile but still in pain. She's got a follow up scan with the surgeon on Thursday which is all about working out if they got the job done. She's going to be in some pain for a little while though but overall she's going ok. Thanks for asking.
Oh man, let's hope that it was a success and that scan will show it.
I presume that they gave her medicine for the pain?
We can only hope that the news will be good on Thursday my friend.
Panadol for the pain, 500mg. She called the surgeon though as it was quite painful and she said to take some ibuprofen as well, to reduce inflammation. She seems a little more comfortable but still in pain. Let's see how it goes Thursday huh? Fingers crossed.
One day I will kick start my broom and get great shots from all angles 😄 just kidding...
Yes these drones are fun objects for photography, still not quite like hiking out and obtaining the photographs first hand being part of it all.
Developing room in black and white is something we had for a short period of time, hubby did his own photography and development, was actually quite good at it years ago.
Special post I have for you to check out later if you have a minute, sunbirds that visited whilst we were away, you can check and correct me if I have any wrongly identified...

Mountains ever changing in moods with cloud, waking up to see them daily you are spoiled...
We are indeed spoiled, especially as I have longed for so long to see what I see now milady.
As a very young child on the farm up north we were also surrounded by mountains before we went to the city and that image has stayed with me.
The extra bonus now is that we also have the ocean.
Spoiled indeed!
