Architectural Photography: Church of Our Lady Victorious in Prague - Repy

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

I´m excited to make an architectural photography collection for you again after some time. Now you may wonder why there is this weird location (Prague - Repy) in the title of this post. Well, the reason is quite simple - there are actually 2 different churches of the same name in Prague so it´s important to be specific when talking about the Church of Our Lady Victorious in this city. The church that I´m going to show you in this post is located in the Prague neighborhood called "Repy" while the other Church of Our Lady Victorious can be found in the very historic center of the city, in a place known as "Mala Strana" (sometimes translated as the Lesser Quarter or the Lesser Town).

The church in Mala Strana is actually more famous. Partly because of the central position but mainly because it houses the legendary statue called "Infant Jesus of Prague". The church in Repy, however, is an amazing piece of Baroque architecture and it´s also a part of a large architectural complex that includes a beautiful Benedictine women´s monastery and a popular pilgrimage site.

To be honest with you, we stumbled on this impressive church complex in Repy by accident last weekend as we were on our way to the nearby Hvezda Game Reserve. As you might be able to tell from the pictures below, the church was built in the Baroque architectural style, mostly in the second half of the 17th century. The whole complex is decorated with numerous beautiful paintings, statues and artworks. Picturesque, well-maintained gardens with trees and flowers can also be found in there, giving the place a very relaxing and cozy feel.

Without further ado, let me now share some of the pictures that I took there with you ;)

I hope you enjoyed this little photo collection dedicated to the Church of our Lady Victorious in Prague - Repy. I think this church as well as the entire complex can be considered a true hidden architectural gem as I never heard of it before but I was really impressed by its beauty and magnificence. Also, this must have been the first time for me to visit a women´s monastery. We got to see some of the most famous European monasteries when we lived in Krakow, Poland but as far as I remember, none of them were for the female members of the order exclusively...

Religious rituals always attract my attention. This church was made with a truly magnificent work of art. There are many buildings built in my country with the Baroque architectural style. But the church you shared is much more interesting. Great content congrats bro, greetings 🙂

Thank you! I guess there are not many Christian churches like this in your country so it was a pleasure to show you around ;) Greetings to Turkey!

Yes, there are not many churches in our country (I know between 10-15 in total). However, there are many structures similar to the architectural structure of the church in our country. Yes I really enjoyed visiting your drink too. :) Greetings to you too

What has build in the past generations is amazing…

Today is just…

  • Let’s so make money and let’s do it again…

Namaste 🙏

@tipu curate

Thanks buddy! You are right, the heritage of our ancestors from centuries or even millennia ago is amazing. I wonder what our generations will leave on this planetbut I´m afraid it won´t be this cool :D :/

I think we will have the pleasure to be witnesses/live to a great change in understanding of our reality...
🙏

Prague is one of the most beautiful cities that I have visited. In the past I published a lot of photos of this nice city. I remember that "Mala Strana" is a majestic neighborhood, where many embassies are located. Even during my visit a film was being shoot in one of the streets of this neighborhood. I do not remember to have visited the church that you wrote about in this post.

Thanks for your kind comment. I think I remember some of your Prague photos that you submitted in the challenge by CzechGlobalHosts years ago ;) It´s a beautiful city indeed and I´m glad you enjoyed your time here.

Indeed, I took part on the photo contests organized by CzechGlobalHosts. I miss those contests.

Such a beautiful church and it’s architecture 🤩 love the wall paintings/ murals. So colourful and the amount of details is stunning.
Great to stumble onto something like this.
Thanks for sharing 😁 have a great evening!

Thank you very much for your lovely comment, greetings to Spain from this beautiful city ;)

You are welcome @phortun 👋🏻😁
Thank you kindly, greetings back to you in Prague from Spain 💃🏻👋🏻☀️

These photos are so beautiful. You take these with a smartphone or camera. The use of colors is just perfect, saturation is just about excellent !

Thanks buddy :) All photos taken with my (4 years old) Xiaomi phone :D I never had a real camera, just phones :) Glad you liked the pictures.

I think this is the most colourful church I have ever seen. Thanks for the beautiful photos.

Oh really? That´s nice to hear, thank you :)

This is really nice and beautiful @phortun thanks for sharing.

Thanks for checking out the pictures :)

This only feeds my need to visit Prague some day. But it'll have to wait for the time being. Beautiful shots and church, always a very big fan of the Oxidized Copper Domes.

Hey, thanks for stopping by :) I hope you will make it to Prague one day, there is just so much cool architecture here dating back from the early medieval times through all the centuries until today... Oh and thanks for letting me know about another meaning of OCD hehe :D

Wait. Wai.. wai..wait right there! There's a freaking corpse in there and you didn't mention?

Ah, btw, I added cocoa to my bomb shake and I shall name it bombornado milkabomb. It's a bomb. And I didn't know cocoa could trigger anxiety effects just like caffeine.

Yeah. It´s actually not so unusual to have corpses in churches here and I didn´t even realize it may seem strange to some :D

Glad to know that my cocoa post helped to improve your legendary shake! But what do you mean, trigger anxiety effects? You get anxious after drinking your bombornado milkabomb? I feel good and happy after drinking mine :D

Well.. i began to feel anxious after 3 days adding cocoa to the bombornado milkabomb, so I read that cocoa has caffeine (?). So I stopped adding to see and anxiety went away.

It's either one huge placebo or it has some correlation.

Wow. I didn´t know that cocoa contains caffeine. I´m sorry that you had this trouble because of my post :(

That's what I read, though most websites say cocoa is actually good for anxiety. I'm confused.

Díky moc, no to si ještě počkám :-D, foťák teď tahám skoro pořád co kdybych náhodou narazil na něco zajímavého.
