I'm not that picky when it comes to the car colors, but above that and firstly my budget would be the judge if I'm going to spend an extra $500 or more (or less) just for a different color from the one (or two) that is offered as default one without some extra charges.
While writing this, my mind crosses Daica Duster SUV offered here on European marked by default in some shity brownish-orange color which I really didn't like. If I was buying that car, I think, I would at least consider that extra charge for a different color. Although, I'm still not sure I would spend some extra money just to change it, despite its ugliness.
Apart from that, picking the color, at least from my point of view, may depend on the purpose you are going to use your vehicle, the type of terrain on which the car will drive the most, etc. In that sense and besides it, I would always rather pick the color on which the dirt is less visible. (In this regard, bright colors, starting from simple white are more appreciative than the dark ones, despite a general contrary belief.)
More than that, I can't tell you. It's entirely your choice as from the budget perspective the same from your personal likes and dislikes. After all, you are the one who is going to drive that car and watch it every day, and you are the one who should feel comfortable with it as with the money spent for it, its driving performances, up to its appearance (including color).
I am not picky and would not spend the extra. To me a truck is a tool.
I agree the shitty brownish orange does not sound too appealing!
I have hear that white always looks cleanest and black shows every bit of dirt. Some people dont believe that, but I believe it to be true.

I had a truck, but, always had a car at the same time. I don't miss the truck . I only bought it to haul the horses and even though I have more horses now, I don't have a truck and if I need one, I borrow one. It is rare I need one anyway.
I had a gold truck with a crew cab, but, if I was to order on right now, I would probably bo pearly white (or similar) PS. I hate saying I told you so so I won't! Black is a color that is hands down the hottest, and gets the dirtiest, and white, despite what people think... stays the cleanest.
Agreed it is counter intuitive. I knew about black getting hot, but it looked so nice with that metal flake, I could be tempted again.

Try a white one... I have to replace my White Jeep.. All the new jeeps only come with black interior. May look for a used one to save money.
Used are really expensive @manorvillemike! They offer really good prices to trade a car in nowadays. The only problem is, of course, is that you have to replace it. I may trade one in and just keep the one, then buy another when the prices stabilize.
