I Am a Wimp

The older generation were some tough guys. My first time shaving with the Merkur Long Handled Safety Razor. These safety razors are a bit harsh. What sort of shaver do you prefer.

I will be the first to admit that I don't use a straight razor like that. It looks cool, but, I just use a disposable razor by Gillette. :) It is fast and easy and my legs feel silky smooth. That is what's important, right?

Do you use shaving cream?

First and foremost I was of course trying to save some money. Shaves are about a penny which is much cheaper than most other options. Second less plastic in the landfills has got to be a plus.

Generally I just use my bar soap for shaving cream (and shampoo as well).

I didn't know how much they cost so that never came into the equation. A penny a shave is a steal, but, only if it is a painless experience. I have to admit, for as anti-plastic as I am, I cannot believe I use them. Probably because I only use one every six months, it lasts forever, especially given the daily use.

Be kind to your skin. Unless you use a skin conditioning bar soap. You know, for that baby soft touch.

Talk about whimpy !

I have never used a real razor. When I was about 15 or so, Santa brought me an electric shavor. I had wanted to shave my legs, but had been deemed "not old enough yet".... so I was delighted that Santa put the go on shaving. Of course I didn't need to use it on my face, thank goodness, but legs and under arms. Because things were made better back in the day, it lasted for years and years and when it died, I bought another, cordless/rechargable that time. Using a real razor seemed scary. Who wants to drag something that sharp across their skin?? Not me.....

I lucked out on that.

I had a cordless/rechargeable Remington oh about 30 years ago. It did pretty good. Not as close as a blade. The nice thing is it didnt require additional blades to be bought of course. I am seriously thinking of going back to one again.

My electric shaver supposedly didn't shave as close as a blade either (but MY legs never knew).....and they felt smooth. The thing is, it didn't take long and I could do it again easily any time, so I didn't care.

I remember those. Learning to shave in the early 70's. Not fun at all. I would never use one again. Are they making a comeback? I shudder to think 😮

No I dont think they are too popular. I was just trying to save a few bucks :)

I'm going to look at electric. Might not be razor close but if the price isn't too high it might work out in the long run :)

I think I am going to go that way too. What they get for the 5 blades Gillette is stunning.
