Hive Died?

in #hive3 years ago

I don't check in to Hive often anymore. The whole blogging thing left a bad taste in my mouth because there was more drama about the rewards for posting than there was discussion about what was being posted. It's sad to see so many friends/acquaintances driven away because of the downvotes and drama.

Where is everyone posting now? Are people heading back to Steem? Never left Steem? What other places have people gone to?

Anyone get one of these bad boys? There were only 1945 for sale.

I'm not sure where people have gone. There has once again been talk about changing the reward pool or doing completely away with it. To completely make Hive like all the other coins and let the second layer social apps do rewards through Hive Engine Tokens or Through Smart Media Contract tokens. Problem is there are also people talking about not bringing Smart Media Tokens to the table and just tabling them altogether.

It is back to steem days of chasing the tail (reward pool). I was hoping we could avoid the chase the prize( reward pool), of all the steem hard forks, but I think it will be a difficult thing for people to do.

As for where people are posting they are likely posting on twitter since people seem to be pushing twitter more than they are Hive, and you can get rewarded in Hive evidently for posting on twitter, so maybe that is where some people went.

As for myself, well I'm not really much of a blogging type person, or an entertainer type, I do still post sometimes though. Are you one of the 1945 people that was able to get one of them? Not real sure about the artistry of the engraving but I guess for a coin it's not to bad.

I don't foresee myself getting a twitter account. Ha ha.

No, I did not get one. They sold out quickly!

That small a number I would guess mostly insiders got the coins. They should have done a lottery draw, then had a big venue place for all the ticket holders, and then when the last name is called that person gets to dump the pressing mold into a vat of liquid iron so no more could ever be minted again.

Some entities just don't think big enough.

Nope. I don’t overpay for something just for a privy mark. The prices they are asking is stupid. Another money grab.
I have an idea US Mint, how about you get with the 2000’s and use the outrageous new technology and produce some hot new designs that would blow off the shelves

Ha ha ha. The resale values on them are insane right now. The $83 silver one is selling for $400+. The $2,600 gold one is selling for over $10,000!

Total waste of money, I’d flip them instantly and buy 4x the gold weight with it.

Hey, @themanwithnoname.

Greetings and salutations!

I guess I've been more like you over the last now quite a few months since I haven't really been producing anything, but I still check in nearly daily for several minutes at least, mostly to peruse my feed and see if there's anything on trending worth reading.

Otherwise, I'm finding myself still burnt out from writing, which is something I didn't think would ever be possible. I think with the right incentives or motivations, the desire to post here would come back, but the physical real requires tender that people will accept for bills, food, clothes, etc., and since material commerce hasn't arrived on HIVE (though a few brave pioneers have tried to some degree or another), I'm stuck with chasing the old mighty dollar. The right people aren't just there yet as far as making HIVE, or for that matter, any other cryptocurrency into more than something worth investing in for a day or two, or whenever the next uptick loses steam.

I don't have one of those coins, but it's awesome. Has to be one of my favorites. :)

Sorry to hear you got burned out. Blogging was fun for a while, but it went downhill at some point. Are you still working the same gig or got something new?

Hey, @themanwithnoname.

Just realizing I failed to reply to this. My deepest and sincerest apologies for that.

Yeah, I'm still working for the coin-op machine company. After being laid off for close to two months thanks to the governmental reaction to the coronavirus here in Oregon, I've been more or less back to working the hours I was before it happened, less a couple hours a week.

I've been given more to do, so I guess that means they want me around, and I have been slowly picking up on how to toubleshoot and repair things, though I need to figure out how to do that at a faster pace. The way things are done, it's just not conducive to learning other than on site, which mostly isn't where you want to fumble around for an hour or two trying to figure out how to fix something.

Other than that, I find myself liking a lot of what I do, so I think that's cool. I'd rather have my own business, but this one has been around for over 40 years and so has a lot going for it just by inertia. Me starting out now, though I would it keep it really small, would be kind of hard, unless I could figure out that niche everyone dreams of finding but never do.

Anyway. Glad to see you around, even if it takes me five days to respond. :)

Protocol dies when it’s runs out of true believers.

HIVE Network has true believers

Glad people are still around. The mood is more sour on Discord.

I don’t Discord groups and I like transparent communication with everyone in our community

Nice to see a familiar face! I don't think anyone would go back to steemit. True, some never left. Maybe people moved to Publish0x? I don't know.

I doubt many are going back to Steemit as well. Hadn't heard of Publish0x. I might have to look into that. Thanks,

People left? No one that I have missed! All my friends are still quite active and busy collecting Hive at these great prices!

Glad to hear that your community is still active!
