Soon all of the rafters will be closed off with a ceiling, and then blow in insulation can be added to help regulate temperatures inside the building. I am looking forward to this as wasps and birds keep finding their way up in the rafters so closing this area off will be nice.
The walls will have insulation added as well, not as much as the ceiling but that is fine, you need more on the ceiling than the walls anyways. The wiring seen is going to be power to the workshop from my solar array that is a work in progress.
We need to add some more wiring so I can get 240V in the workshop. And we are also adding a ethernet cable so we have wired internet in the workshop. Wireless would be difficult with the steel walls of the workshop. But we can surely make our own network inside the workshop once its powered. Just works alot better than trying to use wireless repeaters I find.
With the insulation on the way we need to move some of the big tools around here. That is our trencher, we use that to run water lines for irrigation and to run power cables and what not.
The side insulation for the walls arrived and place in a corner, its compactly wrapped and will expand once open.
Since the ceiling was not completed at this time the insulators started on the walls.
Straps were added first, so they can then attach the insulation batts. This is solid form insulation, not the same as the blown in.
Lots of prep work before they can add the insulation.
Adding insulation to my workshop:
A few weeks later the ceiling gets installed and all of the side insulation is up.
The ceiling took a few days to do, along with a lift rental. Since the ceiling is around 13 feet tall doing it by ladder felt a little shaky, so by using a motorized lift we can move it and by battery power and have a safe platform to stand on.
The lights have been installed as well, waiting for solar power now to use them.
Next is to cover the insulation on the walls, I am thinking of using metal roofing material.. like what I used for the chicken and duck house.
Adding insulation to my house:
My home is in need of more insulation, unlike my workshop it had some already but it needed more. So some work was done to improve the shielding from the elements.
A reflective barrier was adding, its like a space blanket that goes up against the walls.
We can see some of the old insulation, its not doing much so they add more by blowing it in once done adding the wall barriers.
With the reflective wall barriers up its time to blow in the insulation.
An access door is used to get to this unfinished area of the house.
Inside we can see there is no insulation, but adding some will help.
The company I hired uses a machine that takes packs of insulation and breaks them up into a blow in form.
A pipe is ran up the stairs and feeds the foam like material coming out that fills in the space really well.
We can see the blow in material passing through the hose.
Now we can see the insulation has been added but still room for ventilation.
Seeing how this machine works was quite interesting.
Hopefully when it gets really cold our heaters will not need to work so hard to hold the temperatures. Now we need to find a material to cover the walls with.
I realized how important thermal insulation is in the house I lived in while studying at university. Later, when I moved to a house with thermal insulation, I paid less for electricity and natural gas bills and got more warmth. I think you made a very good decision. 😀
Glad you got to experience that, it surely does make all the difference.
Hopefully long term I will save much money using less power and heat.
And I believe, it must be quite expensive as well ?
Yeah its thousands of dollars, but if it saves us energy I do not mind making that investment in my dwellings.
Looks like you are a pro at these sort of works.
Hah thanks man but I paid other people to do this work for me, I am just writing about my experience with it.
I see :)

Success is what awaits him, given so many good things he has built, so that the animals do not disturb his greenhouse. Greetings and thanks for your visits to my publications.
thanks bud, hopefully it will indeed be all successful.
You are welcome
Thanks to you friend @solominer for being very consistent with my publications. Grateful because you offer us good posts. Congratulations from Venezuela.
Workshop ceiling looks great. Side wall insulation also.. That was a lot off work. Hope you had some help. Sorry I have not been around to view & comment on your posts. Hope to be here more often.
Thanks man, yeah its all coming a long over here. I hired out the insulation and building work so yeah had lots of local help around here.
No worries man, its the bear market right now. Take it easy and come back strong when Bitcoin halves next year.
Great mate, all very well done and as I always say with specialized equipment for each task, I love the structure, and what a nice job and ease with the piping to get to the right place.
Thank you, having the right tools for the right job really matters.
You are building up a lot of infrastructure... you are getting a lot of things done and I love that thing about you. It is hard work no doubt but all those small and big changes are going to help immensely. !LUV it bro.
Btw, you put up a stand for vultures or similar predatory birds if I remember correctly, did they ever came and settled there?
!PIZZA
Yeah sure am, its been lots of work in the last year but I think it i will all add up to something nice.
Sure did, and no not yet. Most birds look for homes in the spring time, since I put up the platform in late summer I will just need to wait until early next year to see if any visit it.
Soon I am putting up a second bird house, will do a post on that soon.

If you mentioned it and I missed it, sorry man, what was the insulation for? Does it have a specific purpose or did you do it for soundproofing in general?
Keep heat in for the winter, and the heat out in the summer - a barrier from the outside elements....
Thanks dude!
yep like @dario-mavric said it helps keep in the heat or cold. It may help with sound proofing a little but I live so far into the woods I would just be blocking out bird sounds lol.
Nice shop - totally jealous!!! lol....
thanks bud, it sure is.
Should pay for itself before too long through savings on heating and cooling costs!
There's this stuff called 'InsulAdd' which is a paint additive developed by NASA back in the 90s (I think) which adds insulating properties to any exterior paint. I don't know how hard it is to get hold of, or how expensive it is, or even if it's worth using in conjunction with synthetic insulation, but it is interesting! I must look into it when the time comes for me to insulate some spaces at my place...
